  1. I was 100% NJ and loved living in, being from, staying in NJ nearly all of my 33+ years. Moving to Florida has been a *revelation* ... a lifes-breath of fresh, free air. Things are so much different in a good way. I used to read countless gun forum posts bashing people who allow themselves to live in states like NJ and think, these idiots don't understand anything. Now, having been carrying a firearm everyday, everywhere, for 3+ months, plus having the ability to have had a gun in the car in my center console with no license necessary since I got here in April, ... the freedom and feeling of security cannot be properly quantified with typed words. I am lucky enough that my Dad, being retired LEO, can carry in NJ, but most people are just soft targets to an ever increasing segment of society. I can't wait for him to move down here, where its much more favorable for defending ones self/family/property/etc. If these mobs happen in Jersey, the victims will be responsible for replacing the pumpkins smashed upside their heads. It just keeps getting worse. I for one feel 10x better knowing I have a firearm with me, because I will NOT become a victim due to lack of preparation. But God Bless these poor people, none of them deserved animal attacks while minding their own business.
  2. Yes I did in fact I considered it quite a bit. Without offending anyone with a too-long-answer, please let me attempt to explain my rationale. I am a big fan of three laser/light companies for firearms: Streamlight, whom I'd probably buy exclusively if all things including price were equal; Viridian, whom I believe make the best green laser products there are and also have light/laser combos; and LaserMax, whom I have had success with as well and consider a top player in the industry. (Their green guide-rod laser is a game-changer and I firmly believe it would be wildly popular if it was less expensive, but apparently it is so difficult to make a green laser in that small of a package with any sense of battery life at all, they have to charge what they do). For the Shield , there were a few options I considered worthwhile: Both were Viridian , a green laser called the Reactor 5 Shield , and a tactical light called the Radiance Shield. Both were products that attach forward of the trigger guard (The Shield doesn't have a rail). I liked the idea of a laser but in the Shield I actually considered the light more... For a few reasons: I actually bought an extremely-low-priced-deal on a LaserMax Genesis (a micro-sized ,USB-rechargeable green laser) for my Sig P226 MK25. It works great but I can basically write-off the idea of carrying it because there is basically no holster options for it. I put the day/ night sights on the Shield and thought I'd like the idea of these sights plus a tactical light better than a green laser in this carry gun situation. But you have to buy a specific holster for the gun with these specific lights or lasers, and I Didn't want to limit my options or say, spend the money on the laser, then buy the holster that fits the Shield w/ that specific laser, and be tied down to using it exclusively. I still may someday, as I've only owned the Shield for less than 2 months and this holster for 2 weeks. So far I am extremely happy with the Shield and furthermore I very much enjoy carrying it in the Galco King Tuk, and expect it to get better with breaking-in and conforming to my body etc. Plus I am extremely happy with the TruGlo TFO sights as they are very bright during the day and still good at night with the tritium. Now if LaserMax makes a green guide rod laser for the Shield, I will be very likely to want it. (I am of the opinion that green lasers are the only way to go; red lasers have been around a long time but when you use a good green laser, you see how amazingly different and better it is and will not want a red one again>) if you get a laser for the Shield, please let me know your experiences. And if in the future i do I will of course give a review.
  3. That is the model I bought (to the best of my knowledge) in April 2010 for something like $425~ ... great great gun, love it, you're likely to love it, and this is an unbeatable price. I would buy buy buy before they jack that price up.
  4. Now that I have spent some time and incidentially, some money, on my Shield, I thought I would give a few updates and some of my experiences with the S&W M&P Shield 9mm. This continues to be an absolutely amazing, awesome "little" firearm that has become my literal and figurative "Shield" - it comes with me every day, nearly all day, yet never is an encumbrance or problem. I had initially spent up most of my available money on the Shield at the time, and actually bought an $11 Blackhawk pocket holster @ Walmart. I pocket carried the Shield for a full month, every day, with no problems whatsoever. And to those who have or will say the Shield is not a pocket gun, while I might agree it is technically not, I can assure you even with shorts and t-shirts, in Florida heat, I pocket carried the Shield all day every day for a month on my 5'8" 140lb. frame. However I am now lucky to own a Galco King Tuk IWB hybrid holster. This is just an equally amazing, awesome piece of kit. I had bought myself an Alien Gear Holsters "Cloak Tuck " IWB hybrid holster in June, which took me 7+ weeks to get. And while it made carrying my Glock 23 easier than before, it didn't resolve the issues of size, weight, and printing ... and when I bought the Shield , I considered another Alien Gear holster but decided to go in another direction. Big-time win here because while Alien Gear produces very good holsters for $30, the Galco is 5x nicer and better. Plus, the Alien Gear starts at $30. You need to pay $5 more for a black piece of leather rather than the tan standard. $5 more (or more depending) for metal clips . And shipping is like $9 bucks. So I paid basically $50 for the holster for my G23. Galco makes the King Tuck a $75-$80 MSRP product, on sale most places for $57.99 .. I paid $50 even with free shipping and am happy I did.. it is much more refined yet more rugged than the Alien Gear. The Kydex shell locks the gun away yet presents no problems at all upon drawing the firearm. And when you don the holster , with it still being new and as-of-yet "not broken in", it still feels incredibly comfortable and the gun disappears. I carry the Shield in the King Tuk w/ the 7rd flush fitting magazine in the gun, and two 8-rd extended mags in my pockets for backups (I bought a spare 8-rd in addition to the 8-rd they supply with the M&P Shield.) ... Even with my pockets full of every-day-life things, plus two 8-Rd mags, and the Shield/Galco on my hip, I am absolutely comfortable and don't even realize I am carrying. I have to walk my Aussie Cattle dog many times all over the place, and I'll go for 20 mins before it even crosses my mind I have the Shield back there. Highly recommended, and I believe the King Tuk is made by Galco for many many pistols. One last part... I decided to have the sights swapped for night sights and went with TruGlo TFO day/night sights. If you are unfamiliar, TruGlo TFO is a Tritium & Fiber-Optic sight designed to both collect and amplify ambient light during the day, while using the tritium to illuminate the sights at night in low-light or no-light conditions. I hadn't owned these before, having Trijicon Green/Yellow night sights on my G23 and the factory-supplied SIGLITE Night sights (Green/Green) on my MK25. While I always love Trijicon, they are not cheap and particularly expensive for the M&Ps/Shields... and I was particularly keen on trying the TFOs ever since i saw how absolutely bright they are on an older Hickok45 video. My ideas on this are that as my Shield is my dedicated, every-day-carry gun, I could be deploying it in the defense of myself or my family at any time, any place, in any conditions... whereas a target pistol might fare very well with fiber optic sights and a purely home defense gun might use traditional night sights well, I think that the combination of the two is particularly suited to a CCW firearm . So far so great. While the LGS that sold me the Shield offered to install any night sights I got for free, he actually declined due to the fact "he doesn't have the M&P Shield tools, sorry" .. hmm. This gave me the chance to find out that there was a master gunsmith 10 minutes up the local highway who is actually a really cool dude. He charged me $40 bucks to drop everything he was doing (a 2 month delay due to his significant backlog, as he builds custom rifles and 1911s in addition to regular "work" on guns) and had them installed by the next morning... I did okay ,because I got the sights for $70 which was the best price on the internet, but another $43 hurts. But in for a penny, in for a pound, and now they're on and they work great. My only issue is this: The TruGlo website and the box of the sights indicate yellow is "supposed to be less bright than green" because "they're designed to allow the green brightness to align with the less bright yellow rears" ... well they are significantly less bright. This is okay, because truthfully the green is as bright as I have ever seen. Glowing green ball of Kryptonite. But the yellow rears are a lot less so. Again, no big deal, because I prefer this setup, but I might have gone Green Green if I realized how different they'd be. All in all I am very happy... I have found the Shield shoots great and as up to now, has been flawless. It loves the 147gr Winchester Black Talons I carry and is great to shoot, great to conceal, great carrying, just everything is awesome. And it's an extremely reasonable package, when you can pay less than $400 for this beauty (Stock). I hope to maybe get some refinishing done one day, personalizing a little bit, with either an NP3/NP3+ slide job or perhaps a colored Cerakote but that takes money I am not ready to dump yet. Again- this is one great gun, anyone in need of a CCW firearm (even in NJ lol) or a backup to their bigger guns, etc, I highly highly recommend this.
  5. It's a great price, so depending on if you know a gun shop w/ a gunsmith or a FFL who can do some work, the pinning of the stock and permanently attaching the compensator are not exactly advanced gunsmithing-level jobs, so it's possible. As mentioned, S&W does make specific NJ (and MA? is it?) Compliant models which have a fully-extended, pinned stock w/ a target crown-style, non-threaded barrel. I bought myself on on 4-1-'10, on a whim because of a different gun forums highly highly sought-after postings and glowing recommendations... and it has been awesome ever since. I have about an extra $1000-$1100 into it w/ a complete Magpul accessorizing and an Aimpoint Micro w/ Daniel Defense mount, it's like the absolute best little property patrolling rifle, critter killer, and tactical trainer you could ask for. I had to STOP taking it to the ghetto little range I used to go to across the river in PA because it drew people begging to get a look and try EVERY TIME. These rifles are just the bomb, really great firearms and really great fun, with plenty of training and ammo savings thrown in if you shoot 5.56 ARs. It's funny I was just thinking about taking it out today to my land to bust a few caps and have a little fun, and I saw this thread right after - highly recommended rifle.
  6. Yup I have the factory Remington +2 extension on my custom 870 Tactical ... comes that way from the factory and has been flawless since. I did buy the Wilson Combat heavy duty tactical spring and follower which I guess helps reliability and ensures proper function with loads from heavy 00 Buck to birdshot, who knows how much it ACTUALLY does. I bought the 870 Tactical to make it a project and convert it to an 870 Tactical Magpul Police - however, one thing I didn't realize at the time was the factory 870 Tactical Magpul actually has a six round magazine, not an 870 receiver (4+1) and +2 magazine extension. It's a 6-shot tube w/ a cap. (Plus they Cerakote it. I probably would have bought that version but it came out just after I bought my 870.). I will say this: I recently (for Father's Day) had occasion to buy an excellent Nordic Components +2 for a Benelli SuperNova Tactical. It is much "nicer" than either the Remington factory or my Choate for the M930SPX. It's nicer, and on a Benelli that is pretty damned nice already, you notice it, but otherwise, how "nice" does a shotgun magazine extension need to look? Especially on (at least MINE) 870 Express models, which have ridiculously terrible finishes anyway... and if I ever get around to paying for a nice refinish job, it would include that extension anyway. I would go with the factory, especially if the price was any significance less.
  7. I clean often, I re-clean after cleaning (a few days later) just in case, I utilize multiple brands and types of cleaning products, and I mix and match sometimes. I keep clean guns, i was firmly raised and trained your weapons must be perfectly clean (and therefore ready for action) at all times (physically possible, of course. In the middle of a battle notwithstanding etc.) and it's further important to check on the cleanliness of guns not fired but stored... if anyone here carries concealed they can tell you how, a perfectly cleaned gun , only a few weeks carried every day, becomes a disgustingly dirty lint-magnet with fuzzies and funk in the bore etc. I also believe you get the best cleaning and protection by using different products or rotating etc. I am probably in the neurotic category myself but, I have never had a problem being neurotic about cleaning (even myself/clothes/etc.) Much much better to be extra clean than not clean enough.

    Ruger lc9 s

T Bill beat me to it, I was going to say, Hickok45 really really likes it. I am not a Ruger guy myself, and for full disclosure even if I was, I recently got a S&W M&P Shield 9mm which is about the best concealed carry gun I could ask for, I absolutely LOVE IT and could not be happier. And as far as the fact that *I MYSELF* bought it to be my dedicated every-day-carry gun, but others might have a different use for it- it totally serves a great purpose as a general purpose defensive, shootable, useable gun... With the 8-rd magazine installed (which features an integral grip extender/enhancer) the measurement is actually almost the same as a Glock 19 , which I'm sure is easily agreed that is a very controllable, grippable gun. The angle of the grip is designed after the 1911, and the bore axis is pretty much perfectly placed for accuracy and shootability. The whole package is just amazing and perfect for me. ... BUT I would be lying if I said these Rugers are junk, many many people loved the LC 9 and now this LC-9s is going to start a new wildfire of purchases, I'm sure.

    Magpul SL line

I honestly was wondering what these were - I got the email and got intrigued but, to be honest, was too lazy to research what the difference was. So it's a Magpul-branded Keymod style but not actually going to work with Keymod?
  10. As others have said, DO NOT BUY THIS. When I was first looking, back in Jan/Feb '10, DSG had Remington 700s SPS Varmints (26" Heavy Bbl .308's) w/ a scope combo for $499.99 ... and I thought , that's a sweet deal (I was a novice and figured it was the same thing as the Remington 700s the Army/Marines used so it would be a sweet deal and make me a sharpshooter in no time!! lol). However, they then showed me the $349.99 770 which looked JUST LIKE the SPS Varmint but a bit smaller, like a Jr. version if you will. . .and I thought, this is perfect and I mean PERFECT for me, not a big guy by any stretch, I'm gonna look into this. That was Feb 2010. I have been reading HORROR stories on them ever since. I have since bought a 700 AAC-SD .308 and spent a ton of time, money, and effort making it a semi-customized $3000 build... and I am so happy I stayed away from that 770. On one forum, a guy who claimed to work for Remington pre and post freedom group said that the 770 was literally given rejected parts from the 700... rejected all sorts of stuff. (And I am not talking about second-labels like wine, we're talking about substandard metals and springs and etc.) Maybe it's not true, maybe it's a little true, maybe who knows. But I can tell you equivocally, the net is FILLED with horror stories about them.
  11. The S&W M&P15-22 is really an amazing firearm... I was lucky that I took a few recommendations and bought one on a whim during their initial appearance on the market back in early '10. Amazing gun. I am not sure if mine has had a failure yet, and @ 25 yds (which is the length of the normal, indoor pistol-caliber-only type range) they can "shoot out the star" and display crazy accuracy. Be careful- you think you've saved money because they're very reasonably priced, and you believe you're paying for the rifle with ammo savings vs. firing your .223 AR. However, you will find you customize it more than a "real" AR.. Mine is worth about $1500 now with ~500 or so of upgrades plus an Aimpoint Micro w/ Daniel Defense mount. But seriously, it's amazing. Just an amazing little rifle that feels great in your hands and fires .22LR like it was laser-guided. I recently got to add a M&P 22 Compact to my S&W M&P collection and feel like they're perfect partners in both training, property patrol, and plain old fun. So highly highly recommended.
  12. I just wanted to agree with bhunted, I bought two packs of 4-each night lights from Walmart when we moved into this house in FL in April- both were like $5 bucks a box or something, awesome. Automatic with a sensor for coming on, one is a 4-pack of "Soft White light", the other "Daylight Light", they use LEDs and the total energy expenditure, if ALL 8 WERE ALL ON, 24-7-365, is like $5 for the year... it might be less, I did the math when we bought them, it was borderline negligible. And they work great, they light up enough but not too much. Now it's not a weapons light but it's a heck of a "force multiplier" to use the familiar term, it really increases your readiness posture and defensive capability when you combine it when a great dog, weapons w/ lights, etc. Another layer of protection and help for bare bones minimum cost. So I totally agree with my esteemed colleague.
  13. Streamlight is my personal favorite as well... Imho best value for dollar there is and as I have posted before, when my father was on the job, he carried Streamlight on the streets as the patrol commander and he said the vast majority of his guys were choosing Streamlight. The TLR-1 is their full-size weapon light, they make a strobe variant, a high powered variant (say for long gun hunters etc.) the TLR-2 is the full-size light and laser combo, they now make a TLR-2G w/ Green laser, TLR-3 is a compact light for smaller guns etc., TLR-4 is compact light w/ laser, TLR-4G is w/ a green laser etc. Excellent values... really a great product for the price. I have 'many' Streamlight flashlights and I love them, really great. The one time we had an issue, they handled it extremely well and extremely fast. FYI- Walmart has a $40 light that has got some rave reviews online... I believe the company is "Nebo" but they go by PROTEC... The PROTEC Elite HP190 is like $39.99 at my Walmart in FL, and there are a few different threads online full of great reviews, ppl who bought one and went back for all their firearms, some guy who could not break one on his 870 despite his best efforts, etc. I will be getting one soon for my new S&W M&P22 Compact for fun and will post back, its not a Streamlight of course but, it's supposed be be the truth for it's price.
  14. For a long time it was .40 S&W in the Glock 23 but also 12ga. which is what I'd probably be grabbing- I still have and use the Glock but have bought a dedicated home defense 9mm in my Sig P226 MK25 (and am carrying a 9mm S&W M&P Shield just about everywhere, every day)...but still have 12ga. shotguns in various stashed locations in the house for use in the defense.
  15. Yeah I'm quite familiar with it, I didn't mean to suggest it was different for a civilian or the FBI, what I meant was, if someone gave me the opportunity to buy any handgun from the gunshop, aka civilian legal, it'd probably be that Professional 1911 by Springfield Armory. If I had the chance to buy ANY, it'd most likely be an MP5K or even MP5K-PDW etc. I just meant there are plenty of guns not available to the civilian in the country, but as of regular availability to normal folks, the Professional would be my probable 'dream gun'.
  16. Amazing- but you're going to pay for it, for sure. You might be independently wealthy so it could be not a problem in the world, which is of course gravy baby, but otherwise, it's a lot of cash. However, it's probably the handgun I'd get if I was offered to be bought any civilian-legal handgun. Awesome, congrats, keep posting the process and then pics.
  17. If you go to Harbor Freight, they have quite literally the perfect thing(s). There are 2 sizes, I have like 10-15 of the smaller and 10-15 of the bigger, and we use them for all sorts of things, I have all my cleaning supplies in a larger one, plus a smaller "essentials cleaning travel kit" in a smaller, medical kits both large and small , tools etc. Plus I happen to like the black and yellow color scheme so it's cool - they're basically cheap plastic "tackle boxes" type containers. Smaller ones are $5, bigger ones are $10 - these prices are fairly consistent because I believe we bought our first few in like '12, and got some right before moving in April, and as I Said, I have a ton of these. Are they cheap? Yup, not exactly Zytel-framed M&Ps or Glock-inspired thermoplastics... but they do what they're designed to really cheap. http://www.harborfreight.com/12-inch-polypropylene-toolbox-96602.html http://www.harborfreight.com/19-inch-toolbox-with-top-compartment-66491.html These are what I use.

    S&W M&P22 Compact !

So I busted some caps earlier in the day- actually high noon, in the sweltering Florida sun and heat actually. Good news is, the M&P aspects work great- my land is a sandy, wooden area of pine trees forest w/ sandy dirt. Between sweating and the sand the gun got gunked the heck up and worked great. Started with 11 rounds of Federal AutoMatch I had had in a mixed bottle of ammo- perfect function and straight accuracy. 11 more rounds of CCI Standard Velocity- same result, perhaps straighter accuracy. Switched to a box of 550 Federal Value Pack 36gr HP ammo- we probably put somewhere between 150 and 200 rounds of this through the gun. Accuracy was fine, function was fine. We probably had a handful of failures to feed, failures to eject etc. I honestly believe it could have been a few things- the gun was brand spanking new, it needs a bit of breaking in. It ONLY had a problem with that ammo... I put a few more mags of different ammo through after the Federal Bulk- including CCI Mini Mags HP (loved them), CCI Standard Velocity (ate them like chicken chow mein) and some more AutoMatch, never a problem. Just a few problems with the Bulk Pack, which again I attribute to being a new gun and even possibly gunk in the gun, I had cleaned it and used some Hoppe's Oil Wipes on it, they leave A LOT of oil on the gun- and that just makes gunk of rimfire residue. All and all I am psyched, it was a TON of fun, I killed some cans , the exit wounds of a Diet Coke can hit by a 36gr HP .22LR is hilarious. Rapid fire w/ 10 round mags was as fast as you can pull the trigger... and all the CCI ammo was deadly accurate. Plus I failed to mention, it has a threaded barrel- and with my ears ringing from failure to bring any ear protection, and now living in FL, I could really see the benefits of a suppressor for it!!
  19. I am absolutely a no-know at trap, skeet, and sporting clays and I also have bare bones knowledge in the area of those high-end sporting Over/Under shotguns used in gaming etc. But I wanted to chime in for a few points- Re: Remington 870- There is ONE Remington 870. This has been confirmed by several industry experts across the internet you can research for verification and citations. There is only one Remington 870- same receiver, same just about everything- the differences in the models are Finish and Furniture. ie- Wingmasters get rich, shiny, (and admittedly beautiful) bluing and rich, shiny, (and admittedly beautiful) wooden furniture. Police models get parkerization and specific polymer furniture (Stock and forend when I say furniture). In the case of the 870P Police models, there are 4 parts (springs basically) different than a "regular" 870 and you can swap them for about $30-$50 depending on source. However, Express, Police, and Wingmaster, same shotgun. There are those who will tell you that due to the fact Wingmasters and Police are made in "separate areas of the factory by the best specialist gunsmiths with the best tools and undergo more '(lol) hand assembly and fitting!!!' they are completely better shotguns" and you can take that however you want. Same shotguns. Pumping a Wingmaster is the same as pumping an Express and pumping a Police. That doesn't mean I wouldn't buy a Wingmaster as a dedicated hunting or gaming gun or a 870P for a specialized combat gun purchase. But they're basically the same shotgun. I just wanted to clarify that, not take a position one way or the other. Someone mentioned Benelli, it is no secret I think Benelli might be the best value in shotguns.... they do make very expensive stuff but they have shotguns that are comparable in price to regular old Remington/Mossberg shotguns but they are just so nice...they really do LOOK & FEEL so much better, smoother, silky and sexy and nicer. So if you wanted a fair priced pump but a NICE one for gaming, I cannot see how you could go wrong. The difference between the Nova and SuperNova is basically an integral stock on the Nova, it's permanently bonded to the receiver.... the SuperNova can change stocks out easily w/ a screw... and there may be a few different models and options on the SuperNova. (colors of finishes, sights, etc.)

    S&W M&P22 Compact !

45D, hey no probs brother I didn't mean anything either, I just worried I sounded a little too much like a showoff kid with a new Nintendo tape. Although that would not be too far from the truth sometimes lol. Hopefully I am going over to my property to shoot it soon. I can't really do much as I haven't yet setup a proper target system & backstop (Out of the ~30 acres, only ~2/2.5 are 'cleared' as of yet, and we have just started staking out where the house will be, and while way down the road we are planning on building a REAL range, in the interim we are planning on building a good but only semi-permanent backstop but that has yet to happen.) - I have one mag loaded w/ CCI SV 40gr RN, the other with Federal AutoMatch 40gr RN, and I hope to also test out some MiniMags and/or CCI Stingers/Velocitators or some of the real premium CCIs I have tucked away (The type of stuff I'd leave loaded in the mags for emergencies or critters etc.) I don't think I'll be able to put 500 rds down the pipe but I will have a bit of a better report later, I hope. Thanks again- Those that are interested, definitely get your permits and talk to remixer etc. because they're pretty cool and by all accounts great little guns for a good price. And I think the fact that they're actual S&W will make them really popular and sought after vs. Umarex's and such.

    S&W M&P22 Compact !

I haven't live fired it yet, so I can't give you real-time info, and I have only dry-fired it a few times (Due to several reasons- one, obviously it is not good to dry-fire a rimfire firearm and I certainly don't want to bust up my new gun; but also ,it has a magazine disconnect safety so it's a pain to even dry-fire it purposely, you need to insert an empty mag. (I don't really keep empty mags lol.) However it's designed to be just like the trigger of the newest M&Ps.. like my new Shield has the newest trigger out of the M&P lineup, it has an audible and tactile reset (which apparently was a big feature request from M&P owners) and they have a newer, crisper trigger pull that is advertised at 6.5lb - they were going to put the newer Shield trigger into all the M&Ps (I am not up on the M&P "generations" so this is the extent of my knowledge on the subject) - but apparently this M&P22 Compact, which is made in house by S&W and not by Walther ,is designed to have a trigger feel very similar to those M&Ps (as close as can be with a rimfire and internal hammer vs striker-fired centerfire cartridges.) I've got tons of good .22LR, I should be able to put it through its paces when I get a chance and report back.

    S&W M&P22 Compact !

Yes it is very different ... it has a fixed barrel... I am surprised by that, or at least was surprised shall I say. I personally have wanted a Walther PPK/S .22LR for a while, which is supposed to be the same thing as a regular Walther PPK but just in .22LR... same with the Colt 1911 .22LR i have also looked at heavily ( the FDE Rail Gun version, which is like the Marine M45A1 but not a $2000 .45 ), 90% same or something like that, so I take your point. And I am sure your sarcasm of being on the cutting edge is a little bit deserved, but sure, come on, it's nice to have something brand new that I am sure not many others have yet, I mean I know it's not an HK416, but in my smallest corner of the world, it's cool and fun. I couldn't get out to shoot tonight, as it was already getting dark before I even got it cleaned and sat down to have dinner, but soon enough, I suspect it will be fine but we shall see. In the interim I snapped a few poor quality pics, just to show it in real life as opposed to advertising pics. Great gun- and a pretty great price OH YEAH, I forgot, until December, every one purchased will get a free box of Winchester M22 222rds sent to them if you send them the form.
  23. Just got back from my first gunshow in Florida and I am happy to say I have a new S&W M&P22 Compact... it's pretty cool! It was the ONLY ONE in the entire place. Once we saw it, it almost was bought on the spot, but I figured, lets take a minute, cool down ,think about it, and see if it's cheaper elsewhere. I started to realize , it shouldn't even be out yet! ALmost every vendor said, "Wait isn't that the brand new one? It's not out yet!" and when we told them, "Yes it is, someone else has one" I got a few mutters of "Yeah ... right.." to "Well why are you asking me for it then??" to 'Wow!!! Where?!!? I want to go get it!!!" Got it from an awesome family business, I literally just got in (The gunshow as in Orlando, about a ~90 mile, 1.5 hour trip) and got it broken down and cleaned, so I can't remember the name. The husband, wife, daughter, and daughters significant other ( i didn't ask lol) were great, they have a shop like 10 mins from where the place was, they apparently do a brisk business with S&W and signed up for receiving a new product without knowing what it is, so they got it during the week and I got it at the show. Was born on 7/29, you cannot get guns newer than that if you try unless you're plumb lucky. So far so great, it's great in the hands, as some may know I also just recently got a M&P Shield so I am pretty happy with the ergonomics, it's bigger than the Shield but not quite a "full size M&P" ... two 10-round mags, it's a single-action internal hammer, ambi-safety... and a nice pic rail up front. This is basically the PERFECT critter gun and great for tucking in the waist for protection on the property. And of course I'm sure it will be a blast just plinking and even shooting with the M&P 15-22. I will try to get pics up later and if I can get over to shoot tonight or tomorrow i will update.
  24. Now that I got my collection sorted out down here in FL, I took a moment to snap my 4 babies laying next to each other. From top to bottom, Mossberg 930 SPX, Benelli SuperNova Tactical, Saiga-12, and Remington 870 Tactical (Magpul/Police) Each one will get some more TLC now that I'm in FL... Just yesterday I installed some upgrades on the Benelli- a Nordic +2 extension and the LimbSaver precision-fit recoil pad. The Saiga-12 has a sweet Viridian X5L-RS w/ remote switch tape on the foregrip, and hopefully soon I can get that converted. The M930SPX can now legally have the factory +3 Choate extension that I had to get rid of in Jersey, and had replaced with a Choate +1, I just need a spare $50 bucks to order it... And the Remington is good as is- I dropped a ton of time and money and effort installing each and every Magpul piece of furniture/accessory on it and then converting it to the 870P specs (with the two exceptions of the finish- has not been parkerized yet, and the polymer trigger guard- I got a few professional opinions that it's actually much preferred to have the polymer trigger guard which will not incur damage that the metal one can and often does). I will say, the Aimpoint Micro on the 870 (which had been on the 930 until I gave it fiber optics) is amazing... Until you shoot a shotgun with the reflex sights, you just don't realize how quick you can acquire and shoot ... literally and figuratively a blast.
  25. 44Mag.com ? I have always liked them and found just about anything mag-wise I needed through them.
