  1. Great guns - break it down and give it a good cleaning, real good, then lube properly. Take her out to the range and shoot as many full power, high brass loads like 00 Buck to get it going and start the break in process w/ the springs and gas operating system working from the full power loads. Then put 100s of cheap target loads like Federal bulk pack birdshot to keep it going. I have done this process on all 4 of my new shotguns, all 4 flawless and perfectly reliable, including my Mossberg 930 SPX and Saiga 12 which are both gas operating autoloaders. Which model and what is your intended use overall? I always liked these, wanted the Police model at one point,, came close to buying a few different models back in Christmas 2012 because DSG had some great sales on them and I thought itd be nice to have a top quality autoloading shotgun for hunting or games and they had I think the Sportsman Synthetic, Sportsmans Super Mag, and Sportsman Camo all from like 599-699 which I thought was good during the height of The Panic. Get some pics up
  2. Congratulations I am "hella jelly" bro- something I have always wanted. In fact since I was a kid I've wanted a Desert Eagle but I just couldn't do it... and then I decided the Baby Eagle in .40 S&W ... could never decide.. I would go back and forth with the .357 Mag D-Eagle, sometimes I'd want a .44 Mag D-Eagle (I really wanted a .44 D-Eagle when I was in college lol.)... then I'd go back to Baby in .40 etc. Then I convince myself into saying, if I am going this route, I just am going to go w/ a Glock in 10mm. ANYWAY, Congratulations, looks like a great get you got there... good luck good shootin stay safe.
  3. Yes sir my brother, so far I do love it. Obviously even I would not try to convince someone that 24, make that, 30? hours of ownership is enough to render a final opinion but- so far so great. The size is pretty much tailor-made perfect. I admit I am not a big guy, and I was specifically looking for something for every-day-carry and while "CCW" is a term applied to many things and many guns, I needed something specifically made for daily carry- small, thin, light, etc. BUT- the thing is, I did not want what I would call a strictly "back up gun" - IE, I didn't buy a NAA mini-revolver because while they may be incredibly popular and absolutely useful etc. it's not the type of thing you can "just carry"... I just wouldn't feel safe and certainly not satisfied going out in public with 5 shots of .22LR in my pocket. Maybe it would save my life someday but maybe it would get me killed, like the guy who tried to intervene in the Walmart shootout w/ the girl-and-guy-badguys a while back. I needed something small but I was adamant I would buy something that was "enough gun" - not a war-fighting gun, but "enough gun". Anything below 9mm was not that for me... I absolutely love the Walther PPK and someday would be psyched to own one but, just the PPK .380 would not make me comfortable. This gun, with 7+1 and 8+1 of 9mm qualifies as "enough gun", "enough shots', "enough power" etc. for every-day-carry (With the stipulations that I understand it's not the be-all / end-all; I do have a bigger, more powerful, more capacity gun I can carry if and when it's necessary; and again I am small and my body has tough times concealing so while someone else might live and die by a Sig P229 I couldn't carry it the way a bigger guy could.) In a short, concise statement, the Shield fulfilled every requirement in my list and made me very happy to buy it. And bro the Benelli - you never came back to that thread and said how you liked yours.. I am hoping it worked out well, and wonder about that ComfortTech.. I admit I would probably 'prefer' the ComfortTech but I am totally happy... The gun is great, every once in a while you get lucky and I felt that finding that SuperNova Tactical for that price was very lucky (Both those guns, hell, the ComfortTech is a more expensive gun and it was what, $279? Can't beat that with a stick!) - I haven't seen it in a while because I moved to FL and the Benelli stayed with my father for home defense until he himself moves down to FL .. I did buy him a +2 Nordic Comp extension and a LimbSaver precision recoil pad for Father's Day, but I am sure I will be installing them myself ... Can't wait to run it all dolled up.
  4. So far so good - today being The Day After, I have no regrets that I bought this and am very happy. I am luckily using a Galco Walk-A-Bout holster I have for my Glock 23- basically, back in summer '11, I bought a Galco Leather Gun Holsters "Sto-N-Go" off the shelf at Cabelas for my G23 for like $30 bucks. It was actually a great little tuckable holster... perfect - but it was incredibly stiff which I didn't realize was desirable. So I ruined it with Leather Conditioner products ... within 12 hours it was smooth as butter and so soft it was no longer a good holster. I still used it for carrying around the house for a year or two but I learned my lesson... about 1-1.5 years back, I bought a new Galco "Walk-a-bout" ... which is basically the same holster as the Sto-N-Go but it includes an extra leather pouch for holding a magazine spare. It has been a great holster and I love it but it's designed for appendix carry and especially in the hot Florida summer heat, I have noticed that the G23 was very noticeable with most of my clothes. That was why I bought the Alien Gear Holsters Cloak Tuck IWB... which is currently what my G23 is in and it made a big difference (But it didn't magically solve the problem - that is why I bought the Shield). I figured, it can't hurt to try - and low-and-behold the Shield slides right into this holster with minimal tightness. While I don't see it as a permanent, long term solution, it certainly is serviceable for now and until I decide on a new long-term (do I want to wait 7 + weeks for another Alien Gear? Do I go cross-breed and if so which one... do I go Kydex and if so do I go with a Kydex appendix carry or full-on IWB 4'oclock etc.) -- But the Shield is definitely concealed and totally perfect for EDC CCW duty. Very happy! And basically $400 out the door.
  5. If you can wait the wait, I highly recommend Alien Gear. Their IWB holster has just changed apparently. I got one of the last remaining "original" which is a nice leather backer, with a facing of plastic "sandwiched" to the leather backing. Then it has a Kydex shell to hold the gun - now they have a new 2.0 version which is a whole new "sandwich" , which uses a few layers including a neoprene backer rather than leather. Now mine is basically a Crossbreed SuperTuck, if not a better version, at 20% of the price. The only reason I wouldn't go with them for the Shield is because they take so long and I am not real satisfied with the way they talked to me and interacted with me, that's a new story. I did see an appendix-carry kydex holster reviewed on The Truth About Guns which looked intriuging, and I found a guy local in this area of FL who makes Kydex IWB holsters, if I can get a decent deal I might try him too. The Alien Gear I got for my G23 really is great, it's just that the Glock 23 (especially when I carry 2 spare 15-rd mags in my pockets) is too heavy, and too big. It shows big time on me. If I had one of those IWB for the Shield . I could go in a muscle t and no one would know. The Shield is that tiny from it's thin profile.
  6. H Becwith - Nice nice, are you also moving/have moved to FL? As far as the holster- I WOULD go with Alien Gear again because I am very happy with the holster I got, but I am absolutely furious with their company. There was *ABSOLUTELY NO* mention of any waiting period when I ordered - then I get a confirmation email saying Thanks for your order etc yada yada.. then another email saying, "Thanks- we have charged your credit card, and now please know you can expect a 4-6 week wait as of today." I think that is ridiculous and I told them so on a Florida forum several times- when a bunch of other people agreed, they apparently changed their website to let you know there will be a wait as soon as you place your order, but still, ridiculous. PLUS, They offered to rush someone else's order to immediate production (this person agreed with my post about how ridiculous their conduct was and how they could care less et.) for complaining, but not mine lol. So I have a serious problem with them but I admit their holster is great and it was cheap, dirt cheap. They start at $30, mine was like $45 with some options and shipping. EDIT - I am considering the Galco King Tuck - I have used Galco many times before, they make great leather holsters for a lot less than other people. The King Tuck is exactly like my Alien Gear, leather and Kydex, I think they want $75 but you can get it for $57 or so at MidwayUSA etc. So either that or I might go with an appendix carry, there are a few reasonable choices. Please also let me know what you go with etc. Thanks to everyone else, and farmer I am indeed aware of the no-thumb-safety version but I made a conscious decision to choose the Thumb-safety version for several reasons. I am cool with it. I know others would not be, my old man for example would not buy that one, he is a big DAO/no manual safety guy.
  7. So I just got myself a new Shield! I am pretty happy and excited - they seem to be great guns and it's exactly what I needed and just what I wanted. I am going to type detailed thoughts so if you're not interested you may choose to skip this thread. I needed an "every-day-carry" piece for CCW... Obviously back home in Jersey every-day-carry was not a major concern. I always thought that when I got to FL I would be able to buy all the guns I wanted or needed, and of course I could carry my Glock 23 concealed every day. In reality, I am a smaller guy at 5'8" and 140-145 lbs... And Florida has a policy that "concealed means concealed" - there is no open carry, and when carrying concealed if a citizen or police officer can tell you're carrying you can have a complaint filed against you and/or citation issued. So when you figure that I am having trouble concealing the G23, plus it's in the 80s every waking hour here, and in the 90s 6+ months out of the year if not more, shorts and t-shirts are standard-issue attire. I realized I would need a dedicated, EDC/CCW firearm. Without going into too too many details, I studied the many options, sought after information and experiences, crunched numbers and prices and rounds per/caliber of, etc. And I just kept coming back to the Shield ... especially in 9mm. It just made a ton of sense, it checked a lot of boxes, so to speak, and it really just continually jumped out at me and repeatedly came back to the forefront of my mind/my search. Now I am not going to say it's the be-all/end-all or it's the best gun in the world or everyone has to have one etc but I could probably make a pretty convincing argument everyone needs one in their arsenal lineup, and if not NEEDS than pretty seriously WANTS to have... it's really a great gun. It was only in the store for 2 weeks according to the local gun shop owner, and in fact the gun was only made in mid June (they actually list the production date on S&W boxes). If you're not familiar with these fine firearms structurally , they are 9mm single-stack subcompact striker-fired with a 7rd flush-fitting magazine and an 8rd magazine with a bit of a polymer extension... so while my pinky curls under the bottom of the magazine with the 7rd'er in there, the 8rd'er makes for the absolute perfect size in my hands. Nice, 3-dot stainless steel sights are standard but I will be definitely replacing with TruGlo TFO when I can spare the cash. On that note, I'll also want a dedicated holster (also when I can spare that cash as well) but I really lucked out - the Galco Walk-a-bout I had been using for my G23 [which I recently replaced with the Alien Gear IWB Cloak Tuck] is a perfect, tight fit- so I have a perfectly serviceable if temporary holster. All in all I am psyched... it's everything I need in a price I feel is both fair and not too much/not too little. It's not necessarily a war-fighting pistol but it's not for that role, but I feel like if I had to get into a shootout with it, as long as you kept feeding it mags it wouldn't have a problem fighting ...but again, it's not the reason I got it. Anyway - so far, so great, highly recommended.
  8. Bros this thing is the truth- quiet as all get-out... I am totally into this. I have about 30 acres of Florida woodlands and while the neighbors appear to be cool, and the laws down here specifically say you cannot be prevented from shooting on your property (provided you are not shooting into an unsafe situation or over a paved road etc; common sense safety rules) ... the fact is noise can piss people off and of course let people know what you're doing. From a tactical-practical point of view, this thing is awesome! You can shoot up and down the neighborhood without a sound.. for a Survival & Preparedness enthusiast, this thing is awesome. I haven't even begun to mess with the NFA down here yet, but this thing gets my blood pumping. On a Saiga-12, this thing would be so cool.
  9. no problem btw, I forgot I typed that, I hope you find what you're looking for and then enjoy every round from it. All accounts say it's an awesome gun, enjoy and best luck.
  10. I think this is a pretty sweet deal, very sweet really. Thanks for the post good sir
  11. I don't think you will get the info you're looking for here- I don't think there is a right or wrong answer as neither the 9 nor 45 model of this carbine has a flaw or benefit that could be quantified in the way you want. Now if you just wanted a 9 or 45 type debate, of course that could happen but that is neither what you or really anyone wants i would think. If I may be so bold and offer unsolicited advice , (which you can of course pay no mind to or curse me for etc) I would suggest you decide on, what is a better choice (of caliber) For YOU. Do you use 9mm or .45 at the moment, because that could be a big deal. I recently bought myself a 9mm handgun over a .45ACP handgun for many reasons but no small part in the fact I use 9mm already and my family member I shoot the most with/ plan survival with also has 9mm but does not have .45ACP so it was a plus for me. Ammo price and availability can always be in the conversation, in this case I do not see one having a big go/no go over the other because they are both two of the most popular rounds in the country/world. But small things can be compared. 9mm is invariably cheaper. Usually easy to find. But because it's so popular it's also one of the first to be selling off a shelf. .45ACP definiely hits harder but its more expensive. I will say, however, everywhere *I HAVE* shopped since 12/'12, has always had .45ACP on the shelves, but always much more expensive than other pistol calibers. This includes the Walmart in Florida I just moved to.. they always have plenty and I mean plenty of .45ACP ammos on the shelf but it's not cheap in the least. As far as specific to this carbine- keep the comparison simple. The .45ACP version will definitely have more "oomph" but it will have more recoil as well... I have read people not liking .45ACP carbines because of the feeling and others of course swear by it. me PERSONALLY, I would like my pistol caliber carbines in 9mm. The only real reason I do not own an HK USC is because they were .45ACP only. there was 3 separate times I really wanted one, and all three I wound up passing. If they offered it in 9mm I would have owned one in early 2010 easy. However I know there are people who would say, "I would not own one if it WASN'T in .45ACP' And I totally understand. To me the pistol caliber carbine is all about fun shooting, cheap ammo, convenience, and the possible use in the defense of the home, homestead, or if the world changes into a SHTF situation. In all of those scenarios I would prefer it to be 9mm so that would be my answer. You just figure out what works best for YOU. because I can not see either the 9mm or .45ACP version being better than the other or worse, only better or worse for a particular person.
  12. If you want an SPS Varmint I would go to Dick's Sporting Goods... Back when i first looked at them, in early early 2010, Dick's Sporting Goods has a distributor-exclusive model Remington 700 SPS Varmint which has a military-colored Olive Drab Green polymer stock, the 26" heavy barrel, and a combo-package scope for $499.99 ... I believe they still feature this model quite often in sales. (I wound up waiting, and right after Election Day Nov '12 I bought a 700 AAC-SD Tactical with the 20" heavy-contour 1:10 bbl and used it as a base for my customization build) I Googled "Remington 700 Dick's Sporting Goods models" and got the page on Remington.com for DSG Distributor Exclusive models: 700 ADL Stainless- 24" sporter (regular, fairly thin-normal) stainless barrel, grey polymer stock, stainless steel sling swivel studs 700 ADL Varmint Scope Combo in Mossy Oak Brush Camo- this is right up your alley, a 26" heavy varmint barrel, Mossy Oak Brush Camo-colored stock, and a 'Remington' 4-12x40mm scope included (Remington sources many low-level scopes for their scope needs and they change the actual brand given often so it's hard to say what you'd actually get but it's free at least). 700 SPS Bone Collector in Realtree AP Camo- apparently this one is chambered for different hunting calibers, has a hinged-floorplate (BDL) magazine, Hogue OverMoldings on the stock, etc. All of these are very reasonable and on sales can even dip below the $400 line when they do Holiday Doorbuster-type sales. I would check them out, if you want a 700. Or just order exactly what you want online, as others have said, you can get exactly what you want at the price you want delivered to your FFL. I like to buy my guns over the counter as much as possible so I can see and feel what I am about to buy, but I recently ordered my SIG P226 MK25 and am as happy as I ever have been with a gun
  13. Well there is a $40 light sold at Walmart made by NEBO that is supposed to be amazing for the price... basically a budget Surefire/Streamlight but @ $40.. as I said, I was going to buy but I don't actually need it, but I may buy one for a long-gun just to check it out, the reviews are overwhelmingly great.

    Colt CK901 7.62x39mm

I guess I would prefer a piston AR over a non-piston AR if I had to choose between the two, and when I was spec'ing out a 7.62x39mm AR I was going to go with a piston, but I would be fine with this rifle- and I have a strange, strange feeling that Colt knows what they're doing, and if they're happy with it as a Direct Impingement gas system I would bet they know it's going to work fine. I don't know stuff about stuff but I am sure Colt does.
  15. SixtyTwo that is not "per se" my style of shotgun, however it is beautiful and I would be very very happy to own it! Just has a great look, the forend really has great lines in it... really caught me eye. Screwball, beautiful gun as well. I cannot help but notice, is the light you have there one of the NEBO PROTEC lights I see at Walmart? I had one in my cart yesterday and literally was going to buy it , because I read great things about it and they're only $39.99 - and people complaining that they were having issues out of the box, Walmart has one of the best return policies on Earth, where is the risk?! But then i realized, literally, the day before I got a Lasermax Genesis green laser in the mail lol. There is only so much you can use! However, I heard they were great lights, and I also am thinking about a long-gun implementation in the future... so is that one of them? (And your gun looks great, absolutely great.)

    Ruger MINI 30

Again id never fault someone for purchasing this or owning it because many people love and enjoy theirs, and its not like it's a Saturday Night Special brand someone is defending... generally everyone likes and certainly respect Ruger. I just can't get the thing to pass my internal pro/con test or even want one, because again, I surely agree just plain old WANTING is plenty fine, and enough justification for buying anything that goes boom. I also have a nice bit of 7.62x39 ammo and id get a Zastava M92 AK Pistol (some wrongly call them the made-up word "Krinkov" which is literally not a word in Russian, theyd think you were making noise not describing a Kalashnikov variant) for $399.99 on sale way before a Mini. And if Im gonna spend the real money we were talking here for a Mini-30 Id MUCH RATHER go Arsenal or Vepr, sweet rifles, any way you look at it theyre some of the best of the best.

    Ruger MINI 30

I had a little nickel to burn and considered one once too.. the thing is there is a lot of reasons NOT to get one and not many if any good reason to get one, certainly not any overwhelming or solidly good reasons. They don't like steel cased ammo, they can shoot it but some straight up cant digest some better/worse than others. Also I have heard or read of problems with soft pointed or hollow point ammo feeding poorly causing jams et. They are maybe more accurate than a run of the mill AK But not exactly an M1A either. And theyre not cheap, but again they are a lot more than an AK without a ton moreto it. I wanted to get one and put it in a Tapco stock, do some Magpul customization to the stock, put an Aimpoint up front and a3X Magnifier in the rear... basically a copy of an awesome Sage M14 w/ eotech and 3x an Australian SAS trooper and their-MoH winner ran in Afghanistan. It would have cost thousands to build a real copy with an M1A, Sage, etc. But this copy would be a lot less dough, in 7.62x39, with a Mini-30 and Tapco stock lol. In the end I realized it wasnt really worth it. You have to really really WANT a Mini 14/30 andi didnt, I was bored and wanted a cheap fix to an expensive dream project gun ... but hey if you really like and want one, let no one stop you because if you really do like and want something, that is always sufficient in buying a gun lol.

    Colt CK901 7.62x39mm

Man I am very jealous that is a hell of a rifle!!! I never owned a Colt but I really would love one, something about Colt, in all things, just sets them apart. A Colt 1911 has prestige, a Colt M4 /LE9240 etc. is just different than even a comparable quality AR, etc. Congrats man that's a great rig. I am out of 5.56 and into the 7.62x39mm and .308 Win calibers so I also would be very interested. Especially if it was both!
  19. Colt has debuted an AR-AK hybrid ... a 7.62x39mm rifle with a direct-impingement operation system, monolithic upper & 16" barrel with 13" SBR in the future, supposedly compatible with all available polymer and metal 7.62x39mm AK magazines, and of course it's made by the Pony Express of Colt. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/06/30/colt-ak-7-62x39-colt-ck901-released/ I am a fan of both 7.62x39mm and AKs and I would probably love to have one of these. If I could afford an ACOG to go with it, (Many do not know there is a 3x30 ACOG in 7.62x39mm -calibrated BDC made by Trijicon) I would be very happy. No word of price or civilian availability yet. HOWEVER- I DO REMEMBER , I myself saw an article of Texas Gov. Rick Perry firing what was thought to be the LE901 in 7.62x39mm and no comment was ever made on the picture of him firing it by Colt or anyone. Maybe this was that rifle? I mean it had to be.
  20. So I just got my Lasermax Genesis in the mail... actually FedEx Ground was ringing my doorbell at 9:13 this morning, I was shocked ( Almost all residential delivery is FedEx "Home Delivery" - and 99% of the time, even if your package somehow shipped "FedEx Ground" when it gets to its destination hub it goes out Home Delivery. This did not... so they could have delivered on Saturday but because it was routed through Ground, it sat around all weekend [FedEx home delivery delivers on Saturdays for free, its awesome] ). I found this per chance on eBay and I don't even eBay much. It was at $50 bucks and had 50 minutes left in the auction... I found out, the deal was it's a pawn shop that does eBay. Someone apparently bought this brand new, and like the day they got it needed immediate money so brought it in and must have taken a BEATING on it. Because I had said I would bid $55, then decided, let me go to $65 and that is IT... well it went to $64.99 in the final 30 seconds... I won by a penny. And if you are not familiar, the reason I did this at all was PayPal has a new program where you can pay, without paying for 14 days. the Seller will get their money but you don't get charged for 14 days so if there is a problem, when you are disputing it , you haven't even lost your money yet and it makes it much safer to try things (like an open-box sale ... this is a $200 retail product I got for $65 so... a steal really..but you wonder because when something is too good to be true... but that PayPal 14-Day float really mitigates any risk). The Genesis is a green, miniature rail-mounted laser for firearms that is also rechargeable. It is a 2.5 hour charge, 2-2.5 hour run time. I didn't realize at purchase but it's a pulsating laser, it's not steady, it pulsates that's what it does [this is how they get excellent battery life.] It is very small and while it could probably fit nicely on my Glock 23, it is now on my Sig P226 MK25 as my G23 is my primary carry gun now in FL and it' s hard enough to conceal... plus I do not think I will be able to find a holster for it. As my MK25 is a home-defense gun that I am not really worried about a holster or CCW for, I can use the laser most of the time. I have not fired it but it's looking pretty good as far as the zero/vs my sights so I don't think it needs a ton of adjusting. I definitely feel comfortable saying if I was pointing this laser at a bad guy in HD/PP distances it's going to hit the person near the aim spot. So far I am very happy... I have to admit, in a perfect world I would have a Lasermax green guide rod laser for the Glock 23 and either a Streamlight TLR-2G or Viridian X5L [both are full-size, high power light/green laser combos of the highest quality] for the MK25 but all of these are in the $300 to $400 range and especially the TLR-2G/X5L are very large in size... this doesn't even take up the space of the rail provided (The MK25 has a FULL SIZE 'milspec' rail ]. Here is pic or two- So far I am very happy and while I am not actually able to say it's battle-worthy yet it's pretty awesome so far.

    590a1 worth

I was going to say, I probably got $200 for it if it comes down to that
  22. Just wanted to say this is a beautiful choice and something I personally am very interested in. I obviously have a huge list of firearms I want to buy now that I am in Florida... shoot I have a list of stuff I wanted back in Jersey lol. My first purchase was something that fulfilled absolutely no real need other than a big want. I wanted to make my first purchase a pistol, because I simply couldn't do it in Jersey (I mean i COULD but couldn't, know what I mean, I could not just wake up and decide I wanted a hand gun and I was going to buy one) ... and there was that ridiculous deal for the Sig P226 MK25 that I believe mikka showed us on this forum... I want to say I saw it the night before I moved... we we supposed to leave on Monday but we spent the entire day loading up and then decided to leave Tuesday morning. So Monday night I am laying on the floor of my bedroom with one blanket and another blanket rolled up as a pillow lol... almost all I own packed away save for the clothes I'm wearing and the clothes I'll change into after the morning shower, and some personal stuff in the bags I'll take in my Jeep the drive down...and I read about that MK25 for $774.99 ... significantly cheaper than wholesale cost. Well I had to have it, I wanted one for a long time, and every forum I posted on all came back heavily in support of that handgun as an immediate purchase-need. I wanted a handgun, I knew I could go get an AK (not an AR guy at the present) w/ all the features etc.. but this called out to me. I *really* need a CCW gun for EDC because my G23 is a little too big & noticeable for my size, and the P226 is definitely not a EDC gun... I should have spent my money on a G27 but no... MK25. I'd really like a few .22LR pistols like a 1911 .22LR, PPK/S .22LR, and GSG-5K .22LR.... and could use an AK and AR-308 for my new yard.... but nope , I leave NJ and buy me a full-size 9mm combat pistol lol. Ahh well. It looks great and feels even better in the hand, and it made me happy so what more can you ask, right? But that AK you got there, very very tempting.
  23. Ok then I will not be much help, so I bow out gracefully. I will say, I came very close to dropping about $5000 in a complete clone Army SF SPR , Mk 12 Mod 0, with just about all the trimmings and a few personal upgrades and probably would have had about a $1000 scope (I was most likely going with the Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5-10x56mm) .. things happened that influenced me in life and I would up spending most of my money on a .308 bolt-action build. ANYWAY- I was really into the SPR 3-4 years back, and one thing I remember is, the muzzle brake is almost always the Ops Inc. Muzzle Brake (and collar) which go with the suppressor for the MK-12 mods 0/1... I knew I couldn't have the suppressor but figured it would be accurate, it looks badace, I knew I would be able to deal with getting a suppressor someday when I moved, and again it was "the muzzle brake" for the SPR. Did you give any thought to this, as if you're going through the trouble to build an SPR You must not be totally against spec'ing it out, no?
  24. My AR had the AK-74 -style compensator /muzzle brake on it, but it was a specially designed piece for ARs that was just designed off of the AK-74, not an actual AK-74 rigged onto the barrel. However, two things, the AK-74 compensator, while great for reducing the muzzle climb during full auto fire (A 5.45 AK-74 on full auto is awesome to shoot) it is absolutely the loudest thing you'll "hear" and it shoots fireballs so it's not very desirable. The slant brake is also the most rudimentary of brakes, simply attempting to vent a little gas to offset the natural climb of the muzzle. On a rudimentary weapon designed for field-expedient use and abuse like the AK, it's just fine and natural, but on an AR, I can't see the attraction... you'd be better off with the standard flash hider for free, IMHO.
  25. I thought I posted on this forum the other day, I guess not. .,,, I think I posted a long rant and deleted it at the end of it because I figured no one cared about my frustrating struggle with them. They still have not even updated me on my backorders.. nearly $650 in 2 cases of .22LR which were overdue the first week of January. The guy told me on Tuesday that "it can take FOUR MONTHS!!!! for the orders to get fulfilled!!!!" and I said, oh nice, so when I am going on 7 months, I should then get mad right? IT CAN TAKE 10 MONTHS!!! for ammo he tells me, lol you just told me 4 months!!! And that was that. Half apology half screw-you-be-happy-we-let-you-order it.... And again, it's not chump change. I had to change the address because sheesh, we will be selling soon and the last thing I want is my $650 .22LR cases to show up at my "former" doorstep and the neighbors get hooked up. That took another 20 minutes, just to change the address.
