  1. I would do what I do now: Ignore them. Plain and simple.
  2. They do, but mainly so you don't stock pile them. The main reason those are on there is because many people do not take all of the meds prescribed for them, and that is their way of "encouraging" people to take them all. Also, most meds have been known to be effective for 7-10 years and still be effective. Some exclusions to that are in the cillin, like Im pretty sure amoxicillin is bad right around their expiration date. I have to look all of that back up. Everything else (outside of the cillins) There was a study done a while back, bout 5 or 6 years ago. Basically when we went to war in Iraq the first time (1991) we were stationing most of our supplies and forward medical facilities in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. We did the job and left a lot of gear there for whatever reason (we were stationed there for a good long while after the war) and a lot of the connex boxes were left, and never opened up until we went back into Iraq. They opened up a few of them and found a TON of meds that were left in one or two boxes. It was estimated those boxes got up to 160 degree (in the desert sun) at some points. They decided to send back sample of all the meds and found that something like 80% of them were still usable. Finding this information is a bit hard, as the Army owns it and refuses to let most of it go. However, it has popped up occasionally. As soon as I can find the sources I will post them up. This book was one of the most amazing books I have ever read. Scariest book too, within the first 30 pages or so; and that's just because I have some previous knowledge/training on what to do and what would happen should everything come to a grinding halt. There aren't to many meds out there that can do harm after too long, as far as I know only the cillins (like I stated earlier) but I wouldn't take my word for it. Also, unless you're lucky you would die trying to get through the wall of any modern building like that. you could try the front where the windows are, but even then most places would have metal gates that come down and you would still wind up killing yourself or injuring yourself to badly for it to be worth it. Not to mention that you would be seriously damaging the vehicle that might be used to get you out of a hot zone a **** ton faster tan walking or carrying someone. I ask this question a lot, and most everyone who doesn't have a clue says they would go to one of 5 places: Gun store Grocery Store Police station National Guard armory Pharmacy/hospital Almost everyone comes up with the same answers. That tells me a lot of people will die very quickly, and everyone will be going to the same locations. Me, I'll sit here and wait till everyone leaves, then do my own thing.
  3. Transparent, yes, honest, by no means. Time and time again they are caught lying to their audience about most everything. Lying to to the public is bad enough, but then lying to their own base (and getting caught) is pretty pathetic. It's almost as if they don't even try to fabricate even believable lies.
  4. I was recently wondering how many of you with medical conditions that require medication to live have actually planned or prepared for a SHTF situation. If so, how have you done so? I know this is especially important for those of you that have heart issues, asthma, and diabetes.
  5. I'm concerned about the apparent lack of eye protection displayed, and that the product doesnt come with it. This product will not end well.
  6. You dont need an FID or a permit for any airsoft guns. You are usually required to be 18 or older though.
  7. No matter what it was, the man earned his position in the department, something like that isn't given to just anyone.
  8. I'd talk to a lawyer, and have the chief (or his secretary, I suppose) issue a written statement as to the purpose and reason behind the extra form. I'd also have the request come directly from your lawyer, with a notice of a possible lawsuit in regards to the infringement of your privacy (and the privacy of others that would potentially be involved), 2AR, and various other laws that "require" this process to be completed within 30 days (which we all know never happens). The amount of "investigating" they keep trying to do, there is no way they can complete it in under 30 days, meaning that they technically can't create anything (forms or investigative research) that would create even more back log than they already have. Also, I would like to see whether or not this new form was approved by an judge or other law governing official; especially since the Chief doesn't create policy for civilians, he enforces it, as far as I know. I could be wrong, but it sounds like he is trying to govern over civilians instead of the police force.
  9. Such a shame it had to come to this. But if this guy had as many problems as the article indicated, he should have never been allowed to be on SWAT, let alone training them, in the first place. Especially with a restraining order against him.
  10. Dont currently have a pick, but the whole point of the system is to prevent accidental collapse and rattle/wobble.
  11. If you look closely at it, there are 2 teeth (one on each side) that are cut into the main stock that surrounds the buffer tube. When you engage the friction lock, it essentially squeezes these teeth together to form a tighter seal to the buffer tube. Basically it looks somewhat like this: ╚¯¯¯╝ Those would be the teeth on the outside. they simply get pinched in towards the buffer tube.
  12. right click the link, copy url then copy the last few characters after the link, paste it in.
  13. Not so sure about that. Aaron played his role extremely well, all the way down to the ticks right after looking death in the eyes (gas station scene) and they were believable. Its a small part, probably going to be looked over, though.
  14. Loved it. Pretty accurate on a lot of Marine personality bs, but the movements in the streets were WAYYY off. Outside of that, probably the best alien invasion movie to come out in a LONG time. No retarded a** weakness like bacteria, water, or someone learning their language, their computer language, and then hijacking their fighter to fly all the way to the mothership to upload a human-made-computer-program-based-virus to kill all of the species.
  15. Sadly this thread did do what it was designed to do. Ideally I would wait until everyone starts their looting and exodus. I'd star going through everyones places looking for whatever I might need (meds, water, filters, weaponry, batteries, ect) and head back to my place (as long as it was protect itself). Eventually I would go to one of my pre-planned rally points (not written down on a map) and meet up with my group of trust worthy friends. All of these friends have skills or equipment that I would need or want in a small community. From there I would start making my way off of the peninsula (figure on 60 days or so, depends on the activity level) and then make my way into no-mans land somewhere. If things were too hot Id stay in the Pine Barrens somewhere, deep where it's hard to get to. Couple of things to consider: Law will more than likely be completely gone Money = paper. thats it. Barter trade with addictive substances Medical supplies; most pills and prescriptions can be used LONG past their "shelf life." Most people will need these for one reason or another. A minor inconvenience now WILL be a disaster in a SHTF situation. Something as little as a cat scratch or diarrhea can kill you easily. Water is typically clean when it gets to us. When everything shuts down, water will be contaminated everywhere you go (that's populated). People will get desperate, and they will lose all morals, values, and respect for the common person. Just look at Katrina. You can NOT rely on government services to help you. One YOU know this is a SHTF situation, count them out.
  16. I dont think anyone actually believes it will ever happen. Not everything is always completely serious. But, the questions still remain. Have any of you thought of how prepare for these variables?
  17. Something that has been on my mind for a while, and I wanted to see if anyone else has thought of this. If the ZAOD (Zombie Apocalypse of DOOM!) does occur (or something else on the same lines like a disaster or collapse of society) where will you go? Most of NJ is a peninsula, especially in the south. The only evacuation routes are bridges, and you can bet those will be clogged to the point where you probably won't be able to use them. So a few questions: Where will you go if you have to evac? If you decide to stay home, why? And what provisions do you have for water, medical, food, and defense? Do you have routes planned already? What roads/highways? If you pick main arteries over back roads, why? Have you made a list of medical problems for the people that you would be living and traveling with? Have you started to prepare for their needs?
  18. So morrisville and levittown are basically creim ridden and meth junkies? I live 10 minutes from Camden, can't tell though. This area has a decent amount of crime, but you cant tell.
  19. Hey guys I need some help here. My lease is up at my current apartment April 30th, and I need to find a new place. This place is great and all, but its got a lot of crazy things about it, like everything being electric. And then theres the $350 electric bill; even though I keep my heat set to 65 degrees (since then its down to 60, and thats dropped my bill to @$240. Anyway, I want a place, preferably a small house or 2 bedroom (for all of my survival, firearms, airsoft, and business equipment). It needs to be near Trenton or Brooklyn, and I was thinking about moving to PA. My target price is about $800, flexible +/- $150. I dont NEED a 2 bedroom, but it would make life easier. Anyone know of decent areas like this? Also, I have 3 cats and a car. So car insurance can't be to insane (like inner city). Any help is appreciated.
  20. The MUT looks awesome, but ehhhh its a bit limited when using it for anything other than basic jobs or working on a rifle. The SOG Multi's are great, just need to take care of them. IMO the SOGS have a LOT more functionality than the leathermans, mainly because of the designs of each tool. They don't typically come with as many tools as the Wave, but then the Wave has been lacking quality lately. Also, the pliers on the Power Assist model have more power than the leathermans due to their "Compound Leverage" design, which is EXTREMELY useful for the thicker stuff you want to cut or grip on to. Check it out: http://sogknives.com/store/B66.html I have the Leatherman Core, which is great, but it doesn't touch the SOG in many ways. Looking to get the MUT and maybe
  21. Im currently working on a lot of other topics right now, and trying to maintain a website for airsoft in NJ/north eastern US, while researching some other items. I am however still working on this stuff. As soon as I get more projects completed I will be posting them up. I will ask all of you, however, to think about everything that surrounds you, and how much of it is made of petroleum (plastic, rubber, latex, fuel, ect). Now think about whats going to happen when (not if) it stops flowing. Not saying this will happen soon, but it's going to happen within the next 50 years (Im being extremely generous here).
  22. Leave it to the Hippie and the Actor to decide the Marines are supposed to be PC and friendly. Thats like putting a red bow on a junk yard attack dog. (ps: I actually like both of those Presidents for different reasons. Both did a lot of good, but both also screwed a lot up.)
  23. Thats insane. I don't know how long I'd last with that policy. Everytime they gave the orders to guard and never gave me ammo I'd just laugh in their face. Pretty sure I'd get NJP'ed inside a day.
