  1. I'll go a little against the previous posts and say, it depends. Some garages will have extreme temperature and humidity fluctuation that a home's interior doesn't. Now if you only plan on storing polymer/parkerized/stainless firearms, then no big deal. But if some of your guns have fine wood stocks and gloss bluing, they may do better in a more temperature controlled environment.
  2. They actually do glide very well. They kinda have to, since ejection isn't really a great option.
  3. Good luck! I keep reading on this thread that any qualification is pretty much impossible to pass with anything short of a scoped target gun.
  4. Montana Gold uses a gold color for their bullets as well, although they are a very good quality.
  5. Probably the best IPA out there right now IMO. Wish it were easier to find, I've only had it from tap. Doing some "Imma head out" right now. Really wish they would bring back "Flyin Hawaiian". Punch flavored IPA sounds nasty, but its really an incredible summer beer.
  6. Some online instructors advise to just tell LEOs that you have a CCW permit, and let them ask the questions about if your are carrying, where, etc..
  7. I consider Mas Ayoob an authority on the subject, and its definitely worthwhile to watch his videos or read his books on the subject. For example, in his 20 year-old video, he explains that a woman running down the street screaming rape and being chased by a guy could very well be a hooker trying to escape from an undercover cop. Would not be a good idea to draw down and shoot. Or the guy knocking at your door at 3am could be an officer trying to inform you of an emergency/accident, etc..
  8. Am I reading this right? You shouldn't be able to carry a handgun because you have a higher chance of being shot by a police officer? Is there a secret hand signal that we should know about? And in the same document, CCW holders are a risk to injuring or killing innocent people due to density?
  9. I've been enjoying Kicking Horse Cliffhanger in a superauto machine lately. Easy to find on Amazon.
  10. You could also use: Gold Dot G2 Nosler Tipped Bonded Winchester Ready Defense Most folks go with Hornady because they are easy to find, listed by NJSP by name and is a proven, quality ammo.
  11. I think the overwhelming consensus on this board is that there should not be any qualification requirement. You will also not find many that think practice and training, at least to the level of most of the qualifications courses, is a bad idea. With that said, I can't remember the last time I went to the range and didn't hear folks talk about how badly most LEOs shoot. Ironic.
  12. Some IWB holster use specifically designed j-hooks to wear a shirt over them. Crossbreed is one of those, and it works "just OK", but is completely dependent on your build and the fitment of your clothes. H.E.'s recommendation is better. I do know of several LEOs that swear by ankle holster for BUG sized guns, but I just can't...
  13. If you're not in too much of a rush. the Ruger-made Marlin 336 is being reintroduced in the next few months. If Ruger's first go-around with Marlin rifles is any indication, it will be one of the better 336's ever made. Might be worthwhile to wait on that.
  14. If I am understanding the requirements correctly, it sounds like you're looking for something to bring to the range and shoot little tiny groups on paper. I'll second the Model 41 as arguably one of the most accurate handguns currently made. For something in 9mm, take a look at a Sig P210. I don't have one, but they do have a cult-like following for accuracy and build quality. Of course, those tiny groups would depend on your own skill in shooting iron sighted handguns. If end result is the only thing that matters, then just plop a red-dot on just about any single-action gun and you should be golden.
  15. For years we have been hearing from the left and media that gunshops and manufacturers should be held legally liable for the misuse of firearms. Suddenly I keep hearing on MSNBC/CNN, etc., that he made a mistake and shouldn't be charged. Our honorable politicians should be posed with the question of why he shouldn't be prosecuted and gunshops should.
  16. I've always been taught that a holstered gun is a safe gun. But I do agree with you in that drawing/holstering is likely when an issue with AIWB can happen. Carrying with an empty chamber, if it makes you feel better, is fine as long as you realize its downside and practice accordingly. There are many other options that you should also be able to utilize. Learning all of the features of the gun you plan on using, and exactly how they work (transfer bar, manual safety, drop safety, trigger safety, etc.) goes a long way. You could then choose a firearm or feature that makes you most comfortable to carry. Some options include a manual safety, or an exposed hammer D/A gun, or add a striker control to your Glock, etc..
  17. Did a similar thing with rocketry. Oh how times and technology have changed. Sending a rocket past mach1, and hoping that everything works as it should. Good/expensive times.
  18. They used to have several locations, in both NJ and CT if I remember correctly, but now one one. They are partnered with Hudson Farms, which is the gun club mentioned above. Also, as mentioned, both the club and gun shop are very expensive. I visited their Bernardsville store several times before they closed. In addition to manufacturing their own line of guns, they also had a very impressive lineup of other brands (both new and used). Many of which ran into 6 figure territory. Their gunsmiths are considered to be some of the very best, at least in NJ.
  19. https://www.gunbroker.com/Revolvers/search?Keywords=Taurus Raging Judge&Sort=13&PageSize=24 Shipping to a NJ FFL has never been an issue for me. Also, If heading out west, keep in mind that a very large caliber is seldom needed in most states. I would actually forego anything larger than 10mm/357mag except where you might come across brown/grizzlies. You'll see that their current ranges are quite small pockets in Montana, Washington, Idaho and Wyoming. Of course, the Canadian Rockies and Alaska are a different story.
  20. I actually think he's looking at a presidential run in 2024. Reinstating the bear hunt, growing-out his hair, and slowly fixing his teeth leads me to believe that he's thinking about a national campaign (as funny as that all sounds).
  21. Not a knock on active officers. The union should not be allowed, or should have at least been challenged in their endeavor to get RPOs exempt from the proposed bill. They are essentially creating 2 classes of citizens. A savvy politician would have argued that retired State Police are exempt, but other agencies would be subject to sensitive places.
  22. You do realize that there is a six-figure position waiting for every retiree to provide "security" services. Gotta keep that cash cow.
  23. Absolutely right. The softest brushed leather will eventually acquire some grit and produce a "shine" on your gun. Even rubbing on your skin and clothes will polish the sharp edges on you sights/slide/etc.. Some finishes are more resistant than other, but ultimately, they will all wear down with frequent use. With that said, might as well get the one that performs best and forget about the finish wear.
  24. Same here in Morris County, MO was cashed today. Application was sent to court on 10/25.
  25. The Walther CCP has a similar recoil-reduction system. Might be worth it to take a look.
