  1. You could try looking around Upper Black Eddy, PA. It is pretty out in the sticks, but does offer everything your looking for. The down side is that the house prices out there have gone rapidly up as people have been moving out of Jersey. On the plus side: - 1 acre plus land sizes are normal. - A lot of that area is state game land. - High speed cable internet is available. - Its right across the river, so that area is about 5 mins from Milford or Frenchtown and approx 1hr from PHL. On the down side: - Not as cheap as other parts of PA. - Not likely to be natural gas, so oil or electric. - Not likely to be public sewers, so septic. - Not likely to be public water, so well water (although this could be a plus).
  2. I should know the answer to this question as I live in Flemington myself, however I dont. I would imagine there is a "no discharge law". Not to mention Flemington is such a small town that you couldn't discharge a firearm without hitting something around here. Are you having a vermin problem? I only ask because you mentioned an air rifle.
  3. lol, Congratulations! Yea local politics is weird. My brother is running for Mayor of Flemington. Hes running as an independent conservative. Hey Mak, maybe you can hop on over to the republican committee here and tell them to get off their butts and nominate a replacement. The current mayor (republican) has decided not to run and we are still waiting to hear who is going to run under the republican ticket.
  4. Well there are definitely two sides to this story. As far as I am aware, if someone comes onto my property and refuses to leave I must retreat to my dwelling before I can use deadly force in side my dwelling. With that being said, if he was trying to run her over with the front loader, that could be different as she felt like you life was in imminent danger and being 70 years old you could expect her to run to her dwelling. I would normally agree, however being charged with 4th degree Aggravated Assault is better than Murder.
  5. So what do you think? Does she have a case for self-defense? Bridgewater 70-year-old woman who fired shot at neighbor was scared, lawyer says BRIDGEWATER - Her attorney says there had been prior run-ins between the neighbors in Bridgewater, so his client a 70-year-old woman who lives alone was afraid. But a recent encounter ended with the woman being accused of firing a gun to scare her neighbor, a 43-year-old man. Rosalyn Valachovic was indicted this week on charges of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree aggravated assault in the June 1 incident on Mt. Prospect Road. Police received two calls, said acting Somerset County Prosecutor A. Peter DeMarco Jr. The first was at 10:43 a.m. when a woman said her neighbor attacked her. Minutes later, a man called and said an elderly female neighbor had fired a weapon at him. The male caller said while he was operating a Kubota front-loader tractor on the roadway near the end of her driveway, Valachovic left her house with a loaded .22-caliber revolver, DeMarco has said. The man says she fired one round into the pavement near the tractor, then pointed the gun at his head, DeMarco has said. The man jumped off the tractor, grabbed the gun and a struggle ensued, during which another shot was fired, DeMarco has said. The man disarmed her and went up the hill to his house and called police. Valachovic's right arm was injured in the struggle, DeMarco said. The indictment was handed up Wednesday, with Assistant Prosecutor Merrill Mezzacappa representing the state. Valachovic is free on $15,000 bail. Her attorney, Steven Lieberman, said they are not disputing she fired the gun. "She was on her property at all times and she was protecting herself and used it solely in self-defense against somebody who was unlawfully on her property," he said. "She did not fire a shot at him, she fired a warning shot." She first ordered the man off her property where she lives alone, but he refused to leave, Lieberman said. "There were run-ins between them in the past and she was afraid of him," he said. In New Jersey, justification is the legal term for what's commonly known as self-defense, and firing a weapon is considered use of deadly force, even if no one is injured, said Darren Gelber, vice president of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey. "If the defense raises a justification defense at trial, then the jury is going to be asked to analyze whether the use or the threatened use of deadly force was reasonable under the circumstances," he said. What's considered reasonable is subjective, he said. "That's the type of thing we entrust to the judgment of a panel of 12 jurors. It requires the jury to consider all the circumstances that were known at the time to the person who's alleged to have used this deadly force and say, "How would a reasonable person act under these circumstances?" 6. I wonder what the time lapse on the bayou is. I watched it and I dont think they spent more than a couple of hours there at most. If you are truly in need of food you should be sending 3 people everyday all day to the bayou. That place has food in it if they actually took the time to look and setup traps and snares. These people are like a bunch of scatter brains. One person doing this one person doing that. Seriously, sit down and work as a group to complete things quicker. Also as soon as night time starts these guys sit around a fire and do nothing. They should be draining vehicle fuel tanks at night in teams of 3. The only thing they did right this time was to barricade themselves in the house.
  7. Any reason you didn't do this by county? Central Jersey here
  8. No he didn't. I just watched it again and they show him raising the gun with the hammer forward and then as he is squeezing the trigger you can see the hammer cock back a little before the gun fires.
  9. +1 +1 or like an "Edged Weapon" section.
  10. I can't speak for around Albuquerque, but my cousin and his 5 kids are moving to PA from Albuquerque, because it is going down hill fast. He was telling me how "people" are stealing anything not nailed down and some things that are. When he first moved there 15 years ago he moved to a nice suburb with lots of familys. Now just last year that same suburb had 5 houses raided for meth labs.
  11. Thats an interesting approach. In essence it undermines the most basic principle in our system of justice. You are innocent until proven guilty.
  12. Well I would say #2. My brother got denied and won on appeal. If you go with #1 and change your answer you will be back where you are now in 6 months. #3 is the worst option and you should absolutely NOT do that. Like you said, the cards are stacked against you and if that "Doctors" evaluation comes back with anything negative it will be used against you like it was a murder conviction. A denial and appeal is really your only option here. If you appeal this, I would say you have a 90% chance of winning.
  13. I found on of the articles: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/0 ... ad_we.html They called it a grenade launcher, but I think I read that it was in fact a flare launcher. Edit most recent article I see: http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/0 ... ed_ro.html
  14. Did that guy who got arrested near 3 bridges have one of those? He was linked with al-qaeda in some round about way. I will try and dig up the article.
  15. A bit late to the party, but I just got to watch the DVR tonight. It sucks that this show is on at the same time a Rescue Me. There weakest trait is security and defense. Like bbk said they got broken up and conquerd. They would have been better off permanetly blocking all entrance except one and blockading themselves into the building. Open up the hole in the roof, for roof access to defend from above. I will give them credit regards to using the materials they find. It appears that in the future they use chain link fence to secure the windows and using the hand rail as a fire-pit grate, was smart. Although daily tasks are important, more time should have been spent securing the building and exploring the environment. Im sure there are a lot of items scattered about that they could really use if they go and look. Last but not least they better get on the ball with the food or this is going to end quickly.
  16. Congratulations! Must be something in the water
  17. Call me crazy, but I don't think it matters if it is locked up or not. When the law states firearm dealer or gun range, I take that to mean not just the physical dwelling or range, but the property as a whole. So since the gun range and gun store own or at least have rights to the parking area, the walk to your car is no different than the walk from the counter to the door. That's my take on it anyway.
  18. Mind you that's with hands at shoulder level. That guy has his hand on his firearm ready to draw. If he shoots from the hip and even manages to "wing" the aggressor, I think he would halt the attack. With that being said, when adrenaline is at max, who knows.
  19. Quote. Of. The. Day. Thank you, I have my moments
  20. including zombies? pfft, zombies have nothing on marriage :hand:
  21. Hey Congratulations! Just know, if you can survive marriage you can survive anything
  22. I would add Other to both pages as a "catch all" for services and events that may not fit in any particular category.
  23. They already did: http://www.pbs.org/mediashift/2010/07/what-the-viacom-vs-youtube-verdict-means-for-copyright-law183.html Now that makes sense because 1 viewer is copying material to show to millions of others. TV stations make their money by the amount of people watching their channels and seeing the commercials.
