  1. It's not bad. Really. It's just making my head spin for some reason. I normally don't let crap like that drive me nuts as long as it's functional, but this gets under my skin. Don't know why. I'll try to whack it with a mallet and see if I can improve the situation. Will post pics when I get home tonight, so you guys can see how OCD I really am! Lol
  2. I sent off one of my Colt 6940 uppers to Adco to pin/weld a Battlecomp on it. Received it today. And found the crush washer is like .5mm offset to one side. Makes my OCD kick in and my head spin. Normally, I'm a 'it's just a tool' kind of guy. Don't know why this is bugging me so much. I know from a functional standpoint it's no big deal. The comp and threads are perfectly concentric to the bore, but it drives me nucking futs. Should I send this back or just get over it??
  3. All 4 of my Colts have MPC marked, full auto bcg's. 2009-2012 production. I just bought a recent (2014) build Colt bcg and it has a white inspection dot as well as MP_C markings.
  4. Convinced. I'll put it in the marketplace this weekend.
  5. I'm pretty well convinced in going to sell this AR. It's a pretty simple Colt 6920 with some upgrades. I can always buy a new upper and swap it onto another lower if I miss that particular configuration. The 901 makes sense for my usage, I like the idea of having a 7.62 AR, with the ability to change out the upper to 5.56. Put the 901 and a 5.56mm upper in a Pelican case and I'm able to deal with anything out at the ranch without taking 2 rifles with me. Less gear to travel with. Ed, I'd be very interested in seeing that Colt 1911. Been awhile since I have owned a nice 1911, and I kind of miss them. Traveling this week, wife has plans for me on Saturday, but may be able to slip in some range time Sunday morning.
  6. Thinking of selling one of my Colt AR's to (partially) fund a Colt 901 Modular Carbine. I'm a bit on the fence about it, as I regretted the last gun I sold. It won't leave me 'AR-less' by any stretch of the imagination. Have any if you guys sold an AR to fund another?
  7. When I'm on the ranch in Tx, I always have one of my AR's with me for hogs, coyotes, and whatnot. For whitetail season, I have an old Remington 700 in .243. It was my Mom's hunting rifle. Love that little bolt action!
  8. I have a metric assload of the converted PMags from Midwest PX. I prefer the 15/30's, but have some 15/20's
  9. When they thread the muzzle, the 'smith will turn the end if the barrel down to the proper diameter. It's part of the package. https://www.adcofirearms.com/shopservices/shop_qnew.cfm?code=Barrel%20Threading
  10. Maybe I didn't understand your question. Do you already have a pinned and welded muzzle brake on your rifle, or do you have a bare muzzle? If bare, you will need to have your muzzle threaded, and a brake pinned and welded on. Correct brakes for 5.56mm AR's are threaded 1/2"x28. Adco firearms does an excellent job of threading/pin/weld. There are local NJ shops that also do excellent work. If you don't want to thread your muzzle, you can buy bolt on brakes.
  11. Standard 5.56mm muzzle brakes are threaded 1/2"x28
  12. I know SJSC does not allow .50B BMG on the 100 yard range, but don't know if it's allowed or not on the 300 yard range.
  13. The front sight is supposed to be in focus, the rear sight, and the target are supposed to be blurry.
  14. There are no classifications of NJ legal muzzle brakes. Totally subjective in many ways. Rule of thumb is exit hole should be caliber sized, and not open ended, like an A2 flash suppressor. I would also be careful of a brake that advertises flash mitigation, as it might be construed as a flash suppressor vs a comp/brake.
  15. This one: https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=30805 It's machined as one piece.
  16. Another member here has a couple of those brakes, and 'the front fell off'. Apparently, that is an A2 flash suppressor with a washer welded on the end. His weld failed, making it into an A2 flash suppressor again. As we all know, that's bad news in NJ. He had to remove and replace the brake, a pain in the ass. I use a similar brake on mine that is machined as one piece. https://egwguns.com/wecs.php?store=232536056986&action=display&target=30805 I have been very pleased with these brakes. They control the muzzle well, without being obnoxiously loud.
  17. I bought a complete, brand new MT6700 5 years ago for $1050 OTD. I see just the uppers on gunbroker fairly regularly. I have toyed with the idea of selling the upper on mine, since I don't use it all that much, but haven't committed to it.
  18. You ought to find yourself a Colt MT6700. HBAR, 1/9 twist barrel, A4 upper. Very accurate. I have an upper laying around I enjoy swapping out on one of my rifles from time to time. It's a pig to carry around, though.
  19. If you were closer I'd invite you to shoot my 6940 and 6920.
  20. I'm a HUGE fan of Colt's monolithic uppers (6940/901 series rifles). They are simply outstanding. Out of the box, the 6940 has a ff barrel, flip up fsb, and the monolithic upper has a continuous rail that is an excellent optics platform. If you prefer a carbine length rail (I do), then the 6940 is damn tough to beat. It is surprisingly light, too. If I remember correctly, its lighter than a stock 6920. Both of my 6940's are extremely accurate, and with good ammo, will shoot MOA or better. I have recently put 10 rounds of 77gr SMK's in a quarter sized group at 100m with my ACOG equipped 6940. The down side for some, is that you are married to that rail configuration. Not a big deal for me because I don't have use for a long rail. Some people prefer the ability to install a longer length rail. If a longer rail suits your needs, then buy a 6920, and bolt on the rail of your choice. If carbine length does what you need it to do, I highly recommend the 6940.
  21. As soon as I sell a kidney, I'm in.
