  1. My 2 yr old pit recently got "Happy Tail" syndrome, which contrary to its name is not happy! She had a cut on the tip of her tail that would not heal and I was finding blood all over my house. Ultimately, the decision was made to cut the tail off, $760 for that. Then a week later, emergency surgery because the stitches split open. Doctor was great and only charged us for the the drugs to knock her out and not the surgery, but it was still $250. She is a rescue and a really great dog, but I've never had so many health issues with a dog. In the past 2 years we've spent at least $4k on different ailments. It never seems to go without complications either! I've been looking into pet insurance myself, thanks for this post it's been very helpful!
  2. Great pics Rob, looks like you guys had a great day!
  3. I have the Cryo and I love it. It has become my regular carry. I also have the scallion and leek by kershaw. Price on the Cryo was good, knife is sharp as anything and fits very nicely clipped in the pocket. With the flat design i always forget it's there, but the clip is very tight and holds well to both jeans and smoother pants like khaki and suit paints. I bought the CRKT shenanigan, also a good knife. A lot bigger than the Cryo both length and width of the handle, I definitely notice this knife when I carry it around. If your looking for a good smaller starter knife, can't go wrong with the scallion by kershaw. Nice blade, not to big, has the speed safe design and fits well in pocket and hand. I actually bought my wife the purple one also.
  4. I have the kershaw leek USA, Scallion USA, and Cryo china. All have been good knives. Also picked up CRKT shenanigan which is a Ken Onion design. He designed the Scallions for Kershaw and others. Also a decent knife but not USA made.
  5. I have a Remington 870 express with mossberg rifled barrel and adjustable Nikon scope. It's a great gun fairly inexpensive and I've shot a ton of deer with it. A couple people I know recently picked up Savage 20 gauge shot guns and used them during 6 day firearm. They all raved about the gun. I'm actually considering picking one up in 2014.
  6. The only thing I'm concerned of is using the metal sights and how accurate they are close in. I've had pretty consistent groupings at the range. My AR has iron sights as well, so I'd be in the same boat. I was thinking of my 12 gauge 870 with scope or a 30-06 with scope. At this rate I may be traveling down there with everything lol! Not sure yet, I may be leaving from work Friday and heading straight out there it's about 45 min closer. We were trying to figure out the logistics. It's a 3.5 hour drive from my house, is I am definitely gonna stay over Friday night so I'm not a zombie in the morning.
  7. I'm heading on the hunt also, was actually thinking about using an Argentinian Mauser model 1909 with 7.65x53, or my AR. Not sure about a sidearm. Gonna be fun chasing hogs through the woods with the possibility of 15 different guns on my back, lol!!
  8. Yes, hers are in there also and she is trained on a majority of mine. Those that she's not trained on she know's not to mess with.
  9. Everyone should get out and vote Tuesday!!! If your not registered, here's a link: http://www.njelections.org/voting-information.html
  10. We'll see where it goes from here. Unfortunately, I had no doubt in the outcome today. Very depressing!
  11. I purchased my PPQ m1 9mm last year for approx $600 with tax/nics. Recoil is more prevelant that other 9's I have shot, but not a huge issue. The grip is very comfortable and came with interchangeable backs for different hand sizes. The paddle mag release took a little getting used to, but I like it. Very easy to hit with you thumb and drop the mag out. I have put approximately 1,000 rounds through it and had zero issues. I have been happy with the purchase and really enjoy shooting it. Good luck with you choice!
  12. I will start by saying I am by no means an expert and there does not seem to be a straight answer. From what I have read so far there are a couple things it could be. Argentinian surplus ammo is sometimes stamped 7.65x54 even though it may be 7.65x53. There seems to be a belief that the surplus ammo may have been 7.65x53.5 and they rounded up to 54. I've also seen that 7.65 Argentinian, 7.65x53 and 7.65x54 are all the same thing, nust different names. At this point, I will hold off on shooting the 7.65x54 surplus until I get a straight forward answer. Many of the posts where I found info are dated, so no one actively watching them.
