  1. There is no such thing as "high capacity magazine" It's a political term, coined by politicians 20 years ago to vilify an entire class of firearms. When these guns were designed they were meant to used, 20, 30, 35, etc. round magazines. That would make a 30-round AR-15 magazine a standard capacity magazine. 5, 10, and 15 round magazines being used in a gun designed for 20 and 30 round magazines would make them low capacity magazines. Here in NJ, we are only allowed to have low capacity magazines. At his house, police found standard capacity magazines. If you could go back in a time machine to 1980-something, walk into a gun shop and ask for a "high capacity magazine" the guy behind the counter would probably look at you funny.
  2. Hey, Prohibition wasn't a complete failure. It was great for the Mafia
  3. I'm not disagreeing with the bottom line. I'm merely correcting semantics.
  4. No, they do not. See McDonald v. Chicago, where the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment applies to the states. The reason NJ does not have shall issue CCW, etc. is because the state is refusing to comply with the Supreme Court's decision.
  5. You have the right to carry, as per the constitution of the United States. You know, keep and bear and all that jazz. However, local laws state that you cannot. Court cases and advocacy groups work to repeal that law. What part of that don't you understand?
  6. Let's see... i qoute the Constitution and get -3 No wonder we are in the predicament we are in
  7. Yes, I believe there are some people with weapons like SCARs etc. that they have left in standard configuration because of this logic. Let's just say that they possess a lot more testicular fortitude than I..... And yes, I can't imagine a court case to determine the legality this being very fair, or cheap.
  8. I think you two are misunderstanding the constitution. No, it is not a legal defense in a place like NJ. That's not what I'm saying and I'm not sure why you would think that. What I'm saying is, the constitution holds that all people have inalienable rights, whether they live in Florida, New Jersey, or North Korea. Rights are not granted by our government, or any government, they are given to you by the creator, whomever you believe that to be or not be. Governments do, however, restrict those rights, or prohibit the exercise of them, but they cannot take them away unless you have done something to warrant that (i.e. you can be deprived of 10 years of liberty if you are found guilty in court of robbing someone, etc.). So, no, you cannot walk outside around NJ right now carrying a gun. But that is not because you do not have the right to, it is because the local government has decided to prohibit you from exercising your rights. Words mean things, choose how you use them very carefully.
  9. Carrying a gun is not a privilege, it is a right.
  10. Me personally, I am just glad they did not hide bombs inside their anuses. I already have to take my shoes off and be X-ray strip searched when getting onto a plane. I really don't want to have to get a prostate exam too every time.
  11. If you buy a Saiga, as imported, you can do whatever to it as long as you do not add a pistol grip or magazines over 10 rounds. If you add a pistol grip or magazines over ten rounds, you must add/remove other parts so that the final configuration has no more than ten foreign parts. If you decided to convert your saiga, using a US made stock, pistol grip, and FCG would satisfy 922r requirements.
  12. Because we have a legislature that decides to ban guns based on cosmetic features, imaginary powers guns are said to possess, or because "scary people" had one.
  13. Yeah, that one is screaming ninja.... You want one that that is very light, and preferably "blank" with MOLLE webs to add pouches as you desire.
  14. Project guns? You mean like this? Sorry - Someone had to!
  15. Old article is old. I believe that measure failed in the house. PA is about to sign Castle Doctrine into law, they are headed forwards not backwards.
  16. You are correct, I don't Thank you for the info.
  17. 1: Keep it light. If you can't run, kneel, squat, and walk around in it for a couple hours, all you have is a mall ninja costume. 2: I see a lot of them have pistols on them, I would say don't bother. If things are so bad you need to wear a "war vest", then a pistol isn't going to be very useful. 3: Look up airsoft forums. I'm not a fan of airsoft, but those guys do run around in the woods and play hard with their gear. 4: "Tactical Vests" are fun to play dress up with or play around with at the range, but if you're truly concerned with emergency preparations, buy a nice backpack or rucksack and fill it with lots of stuff useful to you in an emergency. Mad Max fantasies are fun but in a real crisis there are things that will be a lot more important to have than guns and ammo, like food, water, first aid, clean socks, gloves, etc.
  18. They're looking at us. Unfortunately, we're so vastly different than almost anywhere else in the USA's gun laws, that they need to first set precedents with pretty much every other gun control state before they can even start to work on NJ. The only other state in the entire USA where you need a permit to buy a rifle or shotgun is Illinois, and Illinois's FOID system is nowhere close to as bad as NJ's is (done by mail, only $10 in fees, tied to Driver's License) No other state allows local officials to hold complete power over the citizen and arbitrarily deny/delay the exercise of someone's 2A rights for ridiculous amounts of time, or has the "cluster-fugg" of inconsistency from town to town that NJ has. And don't even get me started on the hilarious mess of laws that classify a Daisy Red Rider BB gun the same as a Barrett .50cal sniper rifle.
  19. Yes, it does. However, it won't come overnight, and if it ever does get to a point where NJ has gun laws that are similar to the rest of the country, it will be after several legal battles and probably almost another decade of work. In NJ you have one hell of an uphill battle - from politicians who never change the laws willingly, to a large majority of citizens who have no experience whatsoever with guns and know only the bad things they've been told, to even gun enthusiasts who are perfectly complacent with and in some cases even supportive of NJ's highly repressive laws. I would contend that NJ's mix of people and extremely well-thought out gun control is the most difficult fight of all. For example, did you know we do not have an "assault weapons" ban, you "just" need a special may-issue license to own them. Same with CCW. Places like Chicago and DC were easier to fight in court because they outright banned things. NJ was more clever in their wording and accomplished bans through may-issue instead.
  20. Meh, shotguns are a very poor choice for zombie hunting. If you're looking to hunt zombies, get an intermediate caliber rifle.
  21. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a shotgun that you can actually use for something besides shits and giggles. You will be much happier with your purchase down the road. Look into a standard Mossberg 500 or Remington 870. The muzzle brake on that looks cool but doesn't really do anything for recoil, shotguns have far too low pressure at the muzzle for muzzle brakes to work effectively.
  22. I believe a professional version of this process is used in the automotive industry to paint cars.
  23. How many cops have I read about leaving their loaded gun in someone's yard for a child to find (couple days ago...if a non-LEO did that here they'd be facing prison time) leaving a loaded, fully automatic M4 assault rifle on a sidewalk (remember that one?), shooting themselves in the face with their own duty weapon trying to clean it (couple weeks ago) the list goes on and on. Cops have training but are far from perfect either.
  24. Well said. Sometimes I stop and wonder "how did NJ get this bad?" Then I read the way some people on here talk, and it all makes perfect sense.
