  1. Thanks a lot, discussion over. Nice work on those mags.
  2. Many of us here use the common clip-on type of couplers to join 30 round magazines (In our case, 30 reduced to 15). Unfortunately these aren't always compatible with 10 and 15 round magazines. Or, if you share my preferences, the added width of side-by-side magazines is annoying and you'd rather join two low capacity magazines end-to-end. I know of two options for joining 10 round GI-style mags end to end: Caldwell Coupler MagWedge Coupler The Caldwell coupler works like the common clip-on coupler in the sense that it takes two complete magazines and binds them using mechanical force and resulting friction. It does not modify or replace any existing parts of the magazine. So, no obvious legal issues here... The MagWedge, however, replaces the base plate on both of the magazines in order to join them. This means that when connected by the wedge, both magazines share a mutual component which is necessary for proper function (the magazines can't work without a base plate). In this condition, can the coupled magazines effectively be defined as one magazine? If you were to take a fully assembled unit and remove the MagWedge, you would be left with two non-functioning magazines until you reassemble the wedge or reintroduce their original base plates. This is a trivial thing to fret over, but I want to be sure I don't get hung up on some technicality before I go and join two GI mags with the MagWedge.
  3. We all know that bringing air guns that were purchased out of state into NJ is fine provided that the guns are NJ compliant. (Ex. drive to Cabelas, buy a pellet rifle, drive back to NJ) We also know that interstate shipping of firearms to yourself is legal as per the ATF. (https://www.atf.gov/content/firearms-frequently-asked-questions-unlicensed-persons) The question is: Can one ship an air rifle that was purchased out of state while on vacation back to himself in NJ? This is virtually the same as the "driving back from Cabelas" scenario except that a third party actually transports the air gun.
  4. Here is my brand new P227. I can't speak for its performance since I've yet to shoot it, but the build quality is superb.
  5. Is this step really necessary? Without pinning it, sure, one can argue that you have the "potential" to put on a flash hider and create an illegal arrangement. But if you were to dispose of said flash hider then that problem disappears.
  6. Nice choice with the streamlight. I just got the 600 lumen light-only version. It's almost too bright to use in a dark setting. I might swap it for that one which has a laser and lower output.
  7. I called Bullethole again around 6:00. They immediately called NJSP to ask what the delay was about, then my approval came in around 6:30. I now own my first pistol. I heard that the NJSP allowed LGSs to complete transactions for those people whose permits expired while waiting for the NICS check to come back. They later retracted that statement and demanded that those people return their guns immediately or be considered felons. There is a pile of returned guns at Bullethole.
  8. Bullethole in Belleville. I am under the impression they submitted it the day I purchased my firearm, 5/13. They have been very courteous and they are checking into the delay as of yesterday. Something must have gone wrong somewhere.
  9. I call the LGS daily for updates, nothing new. It doesn't feel good to be an outlier.
  10. It's a good act. Thanks for telling us about it.
  11. On 19 days now. Apparently having an uncommon last name does not help your file move through the system faster.
  12. A deep carry clip is a must. And always avoid exposed polished steel. Also consider that thumb holes, as opposed to thumb studs, are great if you're ever wearing gloves. That said, I suggest the Spyderco Sage 1. It's around $110, but it's fantastic. http://www.amazon.com/Spyderco-Carbon-Fiber-Plain-Knife/dp/B0013AW8Y2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369173158&sr=8-1&keywords=spyderco+sage
  13. Mchosi, have your references received their calls? If not, you may want to call up the detective's office and ask if they are having trouble contacting your references. That seemed to get things moving in my case.
