  1. I think Glock missed the boat by not making a full-sized single-stack .45ACP. Something like a grow-up G36.
  2. I heard the .45 GAP is in a wax museum in the extinct cartridges section. .45 Gap is a great cartridge, and will be around as long as Glock and various LEO agencies support it. I think it's a great cartridge because it mimics .45ACP ballistics. The "size format" is the selling point but I couldn't for the life of me see the need for it. Guess I'm old-fashioned and think we have enough good cartridges out there aleady. The NYSP seem to think it's a good round though, dropping the G17/9mm back in 2006. I just don't know a soul who shoots one. Maybe I don't have enough friends?

  4. Great little gun. I've shot the blued-steel version of this revolver. I'm a big fan of all K-frame guns. All S&W's can be "worked" to lighten the trigger pulls. Usually it's a matter of a replacement spring kit or simply backing out the strain screw a tad that acts to hold the mainspring in place. Just tune the action to ensure you get solid ignition with both SA & DA pulls. Replacing the trigger return spring inside the rebound slide is another tactic. Once you're inside there you'll see what areas you can smooth a bit. I've been working on S&W actions for years. They are great revolvers. Here's a link to get you started in the right direction: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-revolv ... -pull.html Brownell's sells a spring kit. So did Wilson at one time.

Do they sell anything under $1000? Seems like the guns there are waaay out of my budget. Yes, check their website periodically. Oftentimes they will have guns that sit a little too long and they'll mark them down for a sale. The really nice ones or those that fall into the "affordable" category get picked up pretty quick though. Remember, they have a couple of stores. http://griffinhowe.com/reduced-pricelist.cfm

They do have an amazing selection, and certainly have an established reputation. But, I have found their prices high on some items and there is no doubt you are paying a premium to shop there. A careful shopper/buyer can find good deals elsewhere if they are willing to hunt around for them. I question whether the travel to obscure guns shops out of state are worth it but sometimes a good find is rewarding. It helps too to have time and your hands and be retired.
  7. Change.org is Ben Rattray's social networking site. It's like a political Facebook. If you go to their website and view the causes they support, do they sound like a liberal or conservative front to you? Anyone ever hear of anything being resolved based upon its polls? It's a waste of time, and so are 5,000 signatures. If you want attention, 50,000 phone calls and letters to N.J. state representatives will garner some attention. Until that happens, nothing will overcome the sentiments of the Sup. of NJSP or the N.J. State Assoc. of Chiefs of Police who support lawmakers in Trenton. They seem content with the N.J. ranking 16th in the nation's murder rate (FBI's 2008 statistics) and the fact that not many people in New Jersey are gun buyers/owners. New Jersey ranked 16th in the nation in the murder count, according to FBI statistics in 2008: http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2008/data/do ... 8tbl20.xls I'm basing that other assumption on NICS check tallies since it went into practice in 1998. (Note New Jersey's transactions compared to other states. This doesn't necessarily imply actual purchases, but is a good starting point.) It is a matter of common sense what statisticians and politicians think when they view certain statistics and apply their views accordingly. 8. True! The jack-booted authorities in New Jersey seem to be able to have their way with us.

    Yay or Nay?

We used something like this years ago for a "gold fill" look on engraved shotguns and rifle lettering: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=6633 ... HING_INLAY The lacquer stick is a cheaper alternative. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=7778 ... _STIK_reg_
  10. Does the NJSP have anything posted on their website to clarify the M1 carbine yet? When they add it to their page like the exceptions they've noted for the M1A and Colt Match Target I'll feel more comfortable. http://www.state.nj.us/njsp/about/fire_ag1.html
  11. Just don't rob a bank with a BB gun.
  12. If you like peep sights, take a look at Skinner Sights. They advertise on the Marlin Forums and members there speak highly of them. I'm thinking of getting one for my .444. http://www.skinnersights.com/
