  1. Crap- there goes a lot of Work Weekend down the drain. I wonder what it looks like by the steel target range with that little dam there.
  2. thanx for info- of course its not posted on the hotline.
  3. Jeez guys- turn off the sound, ignore the urges to proofread the text and crtique every move- enjoy the view.
  4. Remember The Blob from the 1950's?- it just may come back so thats all good info to know.
  5. Oh yea, the law. It does seem unusually specific on this one subject(thanx PK90).Again its just ANOTHER example of the stupid shi* the state lays down when it can be circumvented fairly easy and legally buying out of state
  6. Hmmm, I'll take door #2 please: This Week.....there isnt a porblem with you giving your friend ammunition, happens all the time in fact, people reload for others, make road trips and so-on, the FPID is only needed to Purchase Ammounition, not to possess it. THAT SAID..many online sources will require the FPID before they will **** ammunition to NJ, so if your friend ever plans on doing any real shooting, he is going to need that FPID, or be willing to drive to Pa
  7. Stupid question, maybe, but I dont know so I'm asking.Say a buddy of mine is in NJ and owns a handgun obtained legally out of state via prior residence. Its NJ legal but he is without a FPID card and thus unable to purchase ammo here.Putting aside the common sense aspect of him obtaning a FPID can I buy ammo and give/sell it to him or is that a no-no.I'm gonna guess that as long as the gun and he are legal its not a problem but in this state....
  8. Nice choice. I've been told its well liked in the military for its utilitarian use out in the field for all around abuse. Not practical for combat all tho its hacking qualities could work very well!
  9. so ya got there just in time to eat lunch and leave? Was there all yesterday and today-probably sat near each other at lunch.
  10. Dont you get to review the order+shipping before you pay?
  11. Best laugh I had today. Before I saw video I thought " now theres an oxyMORON"!
  12. Allright I found them, must have blown by them with the remote before any audio/video came thru, feel kinda stupid!Im very impatiant. Just dont use those tv's much but it dont sound nearly as good as the downstairs surround sound system, that really rocks!Thanx for helping.
  13. My big screen tv in the family room has the HD hook up which has a lot of music channels way up in the 1800's and I really like some of them. However upstairs we have Fios but not the HD options and thus dont get a lot of the same music channels up there. Is there a way to route some of those music channels, without upping the fios package, to the upper part of the house, maybe via the computer speakers, etc? Not too savvy with that stuff.
  14. Finally got a chance to stop at the official Marines history museum in VA. You may have noticed it about 1/2 hr South of Wash DC on 95 North. Kinda looks like a giant fighter plane going vertical or modern art even. Its only 5 mins off the hi-way and a suprisingly big and well done modern institution. Anyway lots of nice museum quality guns(of course!)Springfields,M1's,M14's,M1A2's(00001 serial#),Jap and Commy guns as a lot of the Marine action was in the Pacific theater but some Euro stuff also. Even got to see an improptu(?)Marine promotions ceremony take place. You walk outta there feeling very proud just to be an American.I know its too easy to pass up because you're typically flying up/down 95 but if you can spare a few hrs its worth it IMO.
  15. So is it like the OP was the first applicant in his town to be handed this extra form? Either it was newly impemented or nobody else cared.
  16. appreciate the offer but I've got my own. Great choice and you wont regret it.
  17. Someone's been sleeping with their Mausers too much!
  18. When we(wife!) got our 1 yr old Chrysler T&C I insisted(its a Chrysler) on a very extended warrenty, 70,000 miles worth and negotiated the price. Over that time the warrenty covered new plugs/wires(early), struts, bushings, links(twice),broken axle, engine mount, new gas tank, fuel pump and probobly a few more things I dont remember.Well we're well past that now and just waiting....
  19. Being reletively new to using long guns I'm way behind on the optics associated with them. I do know about standard scopes but all these Aimpoints, Eotechs etc I'm out of the loop. I could cruise around all over for bits and pcs of info but I'll throw it out here to the experienced people who use these things. Are they magnifiers, just fast target pickups, night vision whatever.Pricey stuff so whats the big deal on them?
  20. Usnmars- thanx for the info, pretty much what I thought just wanted to hear it from a pro. Mgrallay- thats the Boltman. I've been in touch with Jim there and they're out of stock on xtra bolts and 10-12 weeks out on turn around time with your bolt, good for him.
  21. If I'm going to mount a standard scope setup on my 91/30 theres really no other option but to modify/ruin(depending on your point of view)the bolt handle so its turned down.I'd prefer not to do that as this rifle has all 4 stamped matching numbers and would like to keep it intact historically. So if i get another bolt body to turn down the handle is that going to affect the headspace? Or is it the actuall bolt head that determines that? Or should I not even worry about it.
  22. Speaking of care packages you should see my basement, looks like a Costco! We go begging, organize and send the care packages, maybe 10-15 a month to Astan where our son is deployed. They are all so very gratefull not only for the supplies but its a great moral booster. We've got a bunch of thankyou letters and they can be a tearjerker at times. Tops on their wish list- American tobacco. Fortunatly my father in law is a vet so we go to West Point and get it at "cheap".My son was able to skype me recently and it coincided with a special box full of cigs and chew, they were hootin and hollerin like they won the lottery!remember there are a lot of men/women out there in harms way, keep good thoughts for them.
  23. Interesting. I'd have thought the weakness would run parallel with the receiver not perpindicular. I'm also wondering if the crack in the stock is a tell of a past implosion that faulted the receiver at some point.Whatever, odds are with so many of them gotta be defects somewhere.
  24. The Darrell mount is rated highly from everything I've found on it and have yet to see any negative feedback on them. Some guy makes and markets them himself, its not some floppy rail blowin in the breeze.Thats why I was hoping someone around here familier with it. Having said that I am also familiar with the Jmecks but didnt want to do the bolt bend. However I was not aware they made a hi mount see thru to iron sights model, somehow overlooked that one and will look into that as its reversable for a scout setup. Fugly, maybe but i'm looking for practical function without any mods. I think this rifle is a lot better than me and want to give it a chance to show it.
  25. That FA sound always puts a big smile on my face
