  1. Why?????? IMHO, I disagree. What's wrong with a healthy discussion about something I think we can all agree will be an issue in the near future if HR 822 passes? My opinion is this, while I believe in my right to defend myself and loved ones, and my rights end where yours begin, ANY one who owns a gun should respect its power and get proper training to use it. Its the same thing as learning how to use anything else you own. There have been great points made in that reasonable eventually becomes unreasonable when it comes to guns. I also understand where others are coming from when they say no training period because its a right. However, I don't at all think the "wild wild West" situation will ever occur, but I DO believe more people will carry if HR 822 passes the senate. I mean it is a GUN afterall. When it goes boom, something will get hit. Wouldn't you prefer it be the intended target?' Sure not all targets will be hit as Vladtepes kinda made the point, but seriously, who wouldn't want to learn how to properly use what they trust to help them defend their life? It makes no sense to me to not train. Its the requirement part that is up for debate.
  2. Seriously, we all know this will probably be one of the next key items of controversy regarding CCW. To require training or not. Where do you stand on the issue and why? Me personally, I know my rights end where other's begin, however, i'd feel a little bit more comfortable knowing CCW Permit holders at least have the bare minimum training with a handgun. I say keep it at the level of the Basic NRA Pistol Course. Cost me $35 bucks and 8 hours of my time and I had fun while doing the class!
  3. We should all aspire to have the level of common sense and mental fortitude that Jim Moran has............. NOT!!!! Radio host rips apart Jim Moran's HR 822 hearing speech
  4. I think they already have the ability to check the validity of any state's CCW permit/license.
  5. HOLY SMOLY!!! Now she's asking for an amendment asking that anyone willing to travel to another state using their ccw permit must give the destination state 24 hours notice that they will be entering the state and carrying concealed!!! Where do these people come from????
  6. Now the Black lady from Texas is calling for an amendment to create a national database of ccw permit holders!

  8. I personally have been involved with one but know quite a few that have gone through it. Still pales to your almost 1000, and you're probably right about practices varying from area to area, but from the ones i've seen, it doesn't take much to get a TRO issued. Maybe its an Atlantic County thing, I dunno. Just telling you guys what i've seen and heard. I knew a girl who was pissed at a guy for dumping her. She got a TRO by lying and saying the guy had called her several times over the weekend and it scared her. They issued the TRO just from her accusations alone, no documented proof at all (Ventnor City). I know for a fact this was a lie because she told me herself it was a lie after the fact. She said she wanted to teach him a lesson. Needless to say I never spoke to her again!
  9. In my experience, all it takes is an accusation of being afraid and the order is granted. I am not a lawyer but i've seen it happened and been a victim of it.
  10. No they can't. You must attend a Temporary Restraining Order Hearing 10 days from the day the restraining order is filed. I know this because I went through it! I prevailed in the end!
  11. One of the most important things your friend must do is ATTEND THE Temporary Restraining Order Hearing. Tell him to get a lawyer and make sure he wears a suit, and keeps his calm. If he misses the court date, say goodbye to his gun rights for a minimum of 3 years AFTER he gets the Final Restraining Order removed. Furthermore, the evidence standards for the accused are higher than the accuser. IIRC, the defendant must use the Preponderance of Evidence Standard while the plaintiff s accusations are enough. Make sure your friend gets a GOOD lawyer!!! A lot of these bogus restraining order cases are usually thrown out at the TRO (Temporary Restraining Order) Hearing.
  12. Wow! So Californians can no longer open carry???? California Governor bans the open carry of unloaded handguns in public. http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-brown-guns-20111011,0,5655548.story (Added a better link where there are comments)

  14. How'd Sweeney get an "A" rating? I thought he was an anti?
  15. Lets say the House passes this. Can Obama Veto it? Can anyone else stop it? Also, I think H.R. 2900 respects a states Constitutional Carry laws. Also, whats the timeline on this? When will final vote and implementation happen if it passes?
  16. I'll be on it as soon as its up on the 360!
  17. Honestly, I think i'd have had my permits at least 30 days sooner had one of my ref letters not got "lost" at the station. What I'd suggest is to go and pick another reference ASAP if the other reference is holding her up. All the station will do is mail the letter out to the new reference. I had my references bring their letters to the station and one STILL got lost. So my friend filled it out in front of me and I took it in myself. 60 days later I got my permits.
  18. Geeez, I keep forgetting to go over there and get that form..... Will do tomorrow.
