  1. Is having your weapon concealed part of the rules? It seems like everyone was wearing clothing that was getting in the way.
  2. I live an hour away so I called first. I would just a call just to be sure.
  3. 525 Route 22W HIllside, NJ 07205 908-686-0960 Cell: 908-267-0227 Weekdays: 12-5 Sat: 11-5 He fixed a worn sear on my Colt 1911, works perfectly now.
  4. Got a quote through this board from Vinny of Hunting World Guns & Ammo.
  5. Bah, he just stood there... he needs to do some pull-ups like (skip to 1:55)
  6. So on Monday I picked up a new Sig Pro 2022 in 9mm and thought I'd share as it's not that popular. I guess it's kind of the bastard child of the Sig lineup. They were going to cancel it this year, probably in favor of their other polymer pistol, the P250, but it got brought back. I wanted a 9mm and always liked shooting Sigs in my childhood, and for <$500 this was an affordable option into the Sig world. After I had placed the order and waited 2 months for my permits, I was curious what was going to come in the box. I had read online about them coming with different combinations of mags, finishes, int/ext extractors, LCI, backstraps - not that I would care too too much about what I got. This model came with only 1 mag in the box (boo... so I picked up another), Llaflon finish (I think) and no extra backstrap. The 9mm mags are 15 rounds, so no worry about not being NJ-compliant. I've always liked Sigs, I remember enjoying shooting my Dad's P226 and P220 over 15 years ago because of the nice trigger pull. I really like this trigger and think it still has that same 'Sig' feel I remember - very smooth. The grip takes some getting used to coming from a 1911, as the slide release and decocker are where I normally put my thumb. Not sure why the release was made so big. The sights are standard (non-night) and have a dot on the front and single white line down the middle on the rear - not too crazy about this setup, so I might need to upgrade these later. (I think my rear line is not very centered - looks off to the left to me) After 250 rounds, I left the range happy with my purchase. Had 2 stovepipes in the first 50 rounds, had no troubles after that (maybe it was the 30 year old ammo I was using up). I picked up a Sig STL-900L light for $90 to go with it. A bit bulky but is bright, mounts solidly, has a strobe mode and a laser behind the glass. The laser is actuated by the red button, so it's not easily accessible with your index finger like the light buttons. Anyway, I've enjoyed reading the forum and wanted to share. If I get my butt out to a meet-up anyone is free to check it out and put some rounds through it.
  7. A stupid question - will the rifle load/fire 22 short and wouldn't that make it a >15 round capacity?
  8. I just pieced together this franken-AR with some parts my Dad had around and some parts I picked up. Essential Arms lower, Bushmaster barrel, Midwest free-floating handguard, MagPul rail covers, YHM sight/gasblock, MidwestPX 15/20 mags. Hopefully I'll get to sight it in soon.
  9. Sinkholes are crazy, check out this one in Guatemala.
  10. According to this article, he was stopped as part of a 'welfare' check, as his mother apparently thought he was suicidal.
  11. I took it up to at Armament Gunsmithing in Hillside and he adjusted the sear... works flawlessly now, I definitely would recommend him.
  12. Damn, I could have saved another $20.... oh well, I'm always lousy with timing.
  13. Hmmm... Do all new 700s have the new X-Mark trigger? It's only listed as a feature on some of the models on their website.
  14. I've been trying to find a company locally to move a safe upstairs if I ordered one... one guy said 500lbs is the max they'd move upstairs without using a rigging company. As much as I'd like to put one upstairs, I'm probably just going to cram one in the garage somewhere.
  15. If you want to try something different and like avocados, I highly recommend Alton Brown's Avocado Ice Cream recipe.
  16. Me and my buddy are probably going there for the first time that night. I usually shoot at shore shot, but figured I'd give it a try. Probably be there around 7-8.
  17. How is CJRPC with guests? I am considering joining but I have a friend who I like to shoot with, but wouldn't really be able to afford the membership.
  18. Ugh, guess I have another 6 weeks to wait for mine. I had hoped only the FID took that long. My Sig is just waiting to be picked up...
  19. Is there a reputable gunsmith in Monmouth County that could look over a Gold Cup 1911. I've had some double fires and would like it checked over before I fire it again. Thanks.
  20. 1) FID + 3 Pistol Permits 2. Wall, NJ 3. Kevin Pressy 4. just shy of 90 days 5. Sheet with general questions (domestic charges? Military status? References.) and previous addresses Link 6. Nice guy to work with, I have 3 new permits in, hopefully they will come in quicker (UPDATE: PPs took 2 months and 8 days)
  21. Looks like there's a mechanical issue. If I lock back the slide and release it with the lever, the hammer falls to half-cock... Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith? I think they do it at Shore Shot, so I might just talk to them next time I'm there. Thanks.
  22. @creeper, I field strip, clean and lube the gun after every time out at the range, but I don't strip it down further than that. @pk90, if I press the hammer forward - with decent force - the hammer does fall
  23. I checked the function and everything works as it should. Looks like I will have to work on my grip and pull I guess, just strange it is happening more frequently. I don't think I'm holding it too light, and I pull very slow (too slow?), no jerking. It's probably my follow-through and reset I need to work on. Would adjusting the trigger stop help with this? So the fully depressed trigger is 'further away' from the release point? Thanks for the help.
  24. Hey everyone, I'm just getting back into shooting. Used to do it a lot when I was a kid with my Dad. I've been shooting a Colt Gold Cup Nat'l Match MK IV/Series 70 and most of the time it shoots great, but last time I was out at the range I was getting an unintentional double-tap when I would fire. I'm shooting reloads that my Dad/Grandfather had made. Last time I shot it only happened once or twice, but this last time it was almost once or twice every mag (I usually put 50-100 rounds through it each time out) My buddy shot off 3 mags or so and it didn't happen to him. So I can only think it's one of a couple things... 1) user error - I'm doing some thing to cause a bump-fire because of the light trigger, though I feel if I squeeze too fast I'm gonna throw off my aim, it's usually very deliberate 2) ammo - it's 20 years old, but some boxes fire just fine, no definitive correlation 3) mechanical - some part is wearing out (it's a 28 year old gun). Though if I pull the trigger, hold it, and manually rack the slide, the hammer stays in place. (read that on another site) (EDIT: while the gun is empty to check if the action is working properly) Next time I'm out I'm gonna check to see if the primers are being dimpled after loading to indicate if the firing pin is hitting the next round (perhaps it's getting stuck?) So can anyone offer any insight to this or perhaps give some tips on trigger squeezing? I usually do a very slow pull, with my left hand cupping my right and my left index finger on the trigger guard. Thanks in advance!
