  1. I was under the impression that the job of a prosecutor is to file charges, not make arrests.
  2. So basically every time i turn a corner and meet a new officer i have to stop and show him my paperwork... we'll see how far that goes until someone gets pissed for being stopped and harassed 5 times in one day. 2-3 mins is a joke... a routine traffic stop should only take 2-3 mins and they take 20 mins on avg.
  3. Now that you know it fires, throw it in a safe and forget about it! an all matching ruger with mags are in the thousands of dollars range. Go buy something u can shoot and not worry about significantly depreciating its value. Firearms like these are a good investment.
  4. They should issue you a small pin or badge which you can wear, this way it is not something that can be easily ruined and its not an eyesore. I've actually seen them before which is what makes me think about it. You could keep it pinned to your belt right next to the firearm so it's hard to miss. The question is... is it really necessary?
  5. :thsmiley_deadhorse: Grammar Police... we have enough Police presence in here. :thsmiley_deadhorse:
  6. Youtube sucks.. its good for BS videos but i have had voice audio deleted from a video for no reason what so ever, and the people on there are crazy.
  7. Oh your soo close it hurts!! We have to basically teach to the bottom learners and the disruptive kids. Not only that but they require teachers to make modification to these lower learners. That means your grade A student gets nothing unless he/she is in a advanced class. Believe it or not testing does not take into consideration whether a student has a IEP or 504, the report card for the school will say how many students are classified, but it is not factored into the testing stats..you get 3 levels.. above proficient, proficient and below. Most schools keep kids out of these programs because they cost a sh8t load per student, child study teams get paid along with a handful of other people. Schools whom get low scores generally have issues across the board. The problem is that teachers are required to spend more time on the lower learners leaving little time to the rest of the class... how the state deems this fair education i have no idea. Kids who need help should get it, but not at the expense of other students. Schools with lots of money don't usually have issues with this, but schools just getting by are locked in with very little room to make adjustments.
  8. Of course, just giving some info on how other state departments handle their business... god only knows what this little black book will reveal..
  9. Yes, it was on last week, i believe is was the self-defense show. They showed three scenarios on how to handle a police encounter while openly carrying. I thought the same thing when i watched it... it was on pretty late though. Only problem i noticed is that it teaches you how to handle the situation when the officer knows your rights and is not violating them.
  10. The point is that you yourself cannot follow the laws that you swore to uphold... It's not about i break a law but dont write up other people who break the same one..It doesnt work that way, in the peoples view. The rest of your post is basically personal opinion, i see no real facts in there... The problem with younger people on the 18 age group and up is that we treat them like children and they act like children, a small fact that you should probably know is that if your at age 20 and still immature, chances are you will never mature. You came to one of the most pro-gun sites in the country, oppressed and stepped on by our state, you couldnt possibly expect any less from us?
  11. These are things that people have been illegally and maliciously prosecuted for in NJ. You should know that he is not the only LEO present on this forum, in fact many LEO's are currently active in this thread.. I cant believe you just said you trust someone you don't even know..... From the hypocrisy that has been dug up i wouldn't want this guy patroling my streets. Being an officer is a privilege, it's not something you become so you can dictate the law, and hold yourself above the law. Infact you could learn a thing or two from our LEO community here and how they actually hold themselves to higher standards then the law..Not a lower one..
  12. The lawyer said New Jersey’s strict gun laws require him to show an urgent need for self-protection, that he was subject to substantial threat of serious bodily injury and that carrying a weapon would reduce that threat. ....You would think these dumb assess have been living under a rock there whole life..
  13. What they hell permits them to carry when in office let alone retirement?? That is under NJ's current BS system of carry permits...
  14. The problem with this is... outside of NJ in a free state, having a gun is legal and a right, unlike nj where it is illegal but legal under exemption. There's nothing about outsmarting the system, its just that there are different systems and you must follow the one which has jurisdiction.
  15. The whole who files the permit issue is null. Like said, there are plenty of officers at most if not all PD's who can take time out of there day to file them.. Hell, some of the worst towns have 3 OT officers managing a road detour due to construction. My town has 3 dedicated officers to the firearms unit, and my guess is they each handle a little here and a little there, and they get everything done on time in 30days. Like said this is just part of there job, they should be able to find time to do it, and its not like everyday they get people applying, or like its some huge task that takes hours to complete. The state has purposely made the process more difficult then it should be. For instance like mentioned in another thread. The Dep. of Edu has an online system that allows you to archive your file for a BG Check, the state takes care of the leg work and sends out the approval letter to where ever you want it to go...they have codes for municipalities.. Your PD would have to do nothing on it's end in regards to BG checks but wait for the confirmation, and you can even check online when you get approved!! Now of course they wont be able to BS you with that type of system. The idea in a law suit like this is not to just complain about of F'ed the system is and force it to change... but rather have solutions to the problem that will benefit all. By cutting the work the PD's have to do will gain there interest, by implementing a electronic system that allows you to apply keeps **** organized and people pleased.. basically we need to cut out the middle man.
  16. I do agree that my statement was very general, and i kinda disregarded the scope of my statement as i didn't take into consideration some instances . There are a few circumstances where they can detain you, but there must be a justifiable reason. Like stated before, you must basically fall under some instance of suspicion in order to be detained if you are not doing anything illegal..ex..fit the description of a suspect or something similar....if your driving a white car x make and y model they can stop you.. Again, unless your being charged with something your compliance with the police is really up to you.. Do you have to comply in these types of situations, no. Will it benefit you to comply absolutely. Can we all just get along...lol. Yes of course we can, and i feel like these conversations are very healthy for society.. people need to be aware of there rights and how to act in certain situations... The #1 way to exercise you rights is to know where they start and end. I feel like if people knew there rights we wouldnt have these problems or they wouldn't be so exaggerated since citizens can keep the police in check. And again, you actually bring up a good point. Is it illegal to carry a firearm openly in Philly and the license/permit allows for an exemption? If so you may actually be required to show your ID.
  17. And i was upset they asked me to do two in the same year.. i feel for ya man. I had one done in September changed schools and they said it was out of date...I also had to pay morphtrack twice and get fingerprinted twice 1 for firearms 1 for EDU, so stupid.. I have paid over 200 bucks in the past year just for FBI and State checks.... and they say their broke..
  18. I'm interested to see where it is stated that if an LEO gives me an order i have to follow it... maybe my statement was a bit general. A Lawful order may be a grey area, im not sure... I know a person with a permit to carry is not obligated to show it, no matter how many times an officer demands to see it. You could construe many different things from a lawful order, and what separates it from harassment? The word here is lawful order.... not an order given by a police officer, They can give lawful orders, but every order may not be lawful.
  19. FYI, criminals tend to hide there illegal weapons... Have you listened to the tape? The fact still remains that you have ZERO grounds to check anything...No matter how much you dislike the way the guy walks talks and acts. YOu ever hear the word profiling? how its illegal? Becuase i look like a criminal.. i am in your eyes a criminal until prove otherwise? How a** backwards is this?
  20. I'm also tired of hearing that LEO's act this way because of stresses related to the job. Were they somehow unaware of the dangers that inherently comes with being a police officer? You picked the profession, you should live with it, why i and others have to deal with your SH8tty attitude is beyond me. I know plenty of guys on the force who can put on there game face without sacrificing the rights of others. It's just easier to blatantly disregard peoples rights in the name of your safety. With that said, every encounter i have had with LEO's takes into consideration that i do everything i can to make them feel comfortable and not threatened, but i still reserve my rights. This isn't directed at your fear, but you should understand that people are much more friendly and cooperative when they are not being threatened by LEO's just like you dont enjoy being threatened by others. If the officer approached the man and said, Hi good day sir, i see you have an holster weapon, it is you right to carry, do you have a permit do so? Reply... yes i do. Can i see you permit? he can answer yes or no, and will probably comply since the officer understand his right and is being friendly.
  21. Like stated before, what gives you the right to conduct a formal investigation upon a law abiding citizen? Your basically saying that you have the right to stop and detain anyone not breaking the law?
  22. Is this what happend? were they specifically looking for a criminal on the run? a crime must be committed for a formal investigation to take place.... You cannot open up an formal investigation if no crime has been committed. If a formal investigation is already in place and you look like a suspect that is a totally different story, but this is way far from that scenario.
  23. I archived my NJDE file a week and half ago and it was cleared on the 11th..... that took 3 days for them to do a background check... New Jersey Department of education lets you archive your file for background checks automatically, theres no reason the state police cannot do this for the local PD's, you submit an archive online on there website, pay the fee, and off it goes...when it clears they send a letter to your PD... why the PD has to ask for it is beyond me. Also you check the status of the BG check... so you know if and when it clears. We have a great system is place that the Education department uses for state and fbi checks, why oh why they don't use it for firearms is absolutely beyond me... So far the only issue with bg checks...like u said, is the fact that some PD's wait and wait to submit the archive. They cannot offer up the excuse that BG check did not come in on time when there not sending them out in a timely manner. If i had to guess, if your waiting 3+ months, they probably do them ever 3 months.
