  1. Is this what happend? were they specifically looking for a criminal on the run? a crime must be committed for a formal investigation to take place.... You cannot open up an formal investigation if no crime has been committed. If a formal investigation is already in place and you look like a suspect that is a totally different story, but this is way far from that scenario.
  2. I archived my NJDE file a week and half ago and it was cleared on the 11th..... that took 3 days for them to do a background check... New Jersey Department of education lets you archive your file for background checks automatically, theres no reason the state police cannot do this for the local PD's, you submit an archive online on there website, pay the fee, and off it goes...when it clears they send a letter to your PD... why the PD has to ask for it is beyond me. Also you check the status of the BG check... so you know if and when it clears. We have a great system is place that the Education department uses for state and fbi checks, why oh why they don't use it for firearms is absolutely beyond me... So far the only issue with bg checks...like u said, is the fact that some PD's wait and wait to submit the archive. They cannot offer up the excuse that BG check did not come in on time when there not sending them out in a timely manner. If i had to guess, if your waiting 3+ months, they probably do them ever 3 months.
  3. Someone just opened a can of worms... Sorry buddy, but i do not have to obey a police officers demands when i am doing nothing illegal. Police officers cannot detain a person who is legally doing nothing wrong. Typical do what i say mentality... not good..not good. Is this really what there teaching u guys at the academy?
  4. 5.56 FTW!!! i picked up the same rifle in december, LOVE IT! 5.56 chambered rifles can shoot .223, since the 5.56 is ever so slight bigger, more tight fit in the chamber... The other way around is not so true, .223 barrels will be slightly smaller then a 5.56 chamber barrel. Like bob said error with caution. If your looking for ammo, check out federal xm193 5.56. You can even sell the salt lake city brass cartridges when there spent, i hear its some of the best brass out there unlike federals normal line of ammo. When you see rifles advertised in 5.56 and .223 its a 5.56 barrel, not sure where u bought this from but there website advertises the barrel as 5.56 nato & .223, not specifically one or the other.
  5. Exactly, kinda shows there true colors... add to the fact this case will be eating up time and money, especially in a city with high crime rates, it really shows just where there intentions are.
  6. Honestly, there is a big difference between intending to start trouble with the police, and being prepared for trouble by the police. Do i think he went out that day with the thought in the back of his mind that he was going to start a revolution...absolutely not. Do i think he had in the back of his mind...maybe i should carry a recorded if something happens, yes i do. If he wanted to start trouble he would have just been standing on a corner all day waiting for someone to approach him... he actually was just trying to go about his normal business when this happened.
  7. I agree, i dont know why Philly is giving themselves such a big head ache on this one. They were clearly wrong but just couldn't leave it at that. The funny part is... there's not much they can prove in court... Reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct? Both seem to be nothing but smoke and mirror charges... and now the gun community will be even more pissed off.
  8. When i spoke to the NJSP they basically said the same thing, a couple days, maybe a week if there backed up.. The delays come from somewhere else, its just easy for the PD to blame it on the BG check since there is no way to tell if it's done yet.
  9. Yup, much like the whole astrology thing, your zodiac sign has nothing to do with the date you were born. I dunno where they came up with this between this day and this day you zodiac sign is X, but it had to do with the constellation alignments....people just got lazy trying to figure it out and decided it was easier just to set dates. people go there whole lives following the wrong zodiac, if it even makes a difference.
  10. Yeah, i think we all just got an excuse to buy more ammo, lol.
  11. The eotechs are supposed to be granular because of the laser, although it should be on a low enough setting u dont notice it.
  12. honestly, just buy one lol. I know i know, but your going to like shooting them...alot, and end up wanting one anyway.
  13. lol, I wasn't that serious, i've actually been to a fualt line up in Sussex at sterling hill mine. Either way i still think were better off then many other places.
  14. When was the last time NJ had a real earthquake? I think cali might want to start packing there bagss...
  15. The problem here is.. 90% of calls are for domestice violence.
  16. This is basically how i read it... If your sitting at home minding your business, not being loud, not fighting with anyone, for the sake of argument lets say u live alone and were sleeping on the couch. Knock Knock(at the door), its the police.... Hi, we have no reason to be here but were going to enter your house either way.... you cannot say no?? are u freaking kidding me.... Another big issue... we had/have a problem with people impersonating police... I'm not big on letting anyone into my house that i don't personally know, this just screams all sorts of F'ed up Sh8t. Im surprised no one has started to copy and paste the 4thA. I mean its pretty clear about search and entry into/onto someones property.
  17. I actually do understand the issue with the eotechs and the battery connectors, that seemed to be an issue on older models. While i also see your point about the battery life, the eotechs use laser which none else do.
  18. I find this comment to be a bit of a stretch from the truth. I don't want to start a eotech vs aimpoint feud, so i'll leave it at that unless you have specif proof of your claims.
  19. Yeah, when people move there permits are still associated with the address they were assigned to. But the SBI number is always the same, its kinda like a SS# in its sense of use.. in the firearm database. The seller doesnt need a Valid FID so it doesnt really matter, they must reside in NJ tho. He can still use his SBI# though, not sure if its required if you have one.
  20. I totally agree, or at least a woman who will make it past the first couple eliminations... I highly doubt they will get rid of or change the elimination style challenges, a lot of shows are based on this and stupid people love it... I am in agreement with the rest, put the worst shooters on the chopping block and have the show actually test what the name says "TOP SHOT"... this will never happen, for every 1,000 people they have complian about it, 10,000 dont give a rats a** and watch the show for the excitement of the eliminations. This Is TV, not an actual contest.
  21. You would be surprised the things that get brushed under the carpet at private schools.... take it from someone who went to catholic school until college. When i was a junior one of my classmates put a senior in the hospital... real bad beat down half the school witnessed. Police got involved law suites were flying, It happened that 2 weeks of school before summer... my class mate missed finals from being suspended was waived into senior year and was sitting in my homeroom first day senior year... I was shocked the school let him stay, but he was on the football team.
  22. If you guys watched the wrap up episode, the whole Jay situation was a mess. He stepped up to help his team when no one else would, and then everyone found him annoying and didnt say anything. The opposing team approached him to tell him that his team thought he was a tool and they were falling apart.
