  1. There fixed it for you If they actually considered applicants i would agree on the may issue part, but just because it's written "may issue" doesn't mean jack. NJ is a... you bribed a judge issue state. I'm actually surprised they allow retired LEO to carry.
  2. And this is exactly why i will never buy from wal-mart. They low ball companies into sell there products to them far below what there worth. Around here, you can just go to another store, or mom and pop shop. Some places are forced to deal with this crap because they have no other places to sell to for retail. What does this do? it results in cheap products and outsourcing. When Wal-mart retails a product, they pick the price... not much negotiation. You want your product on our shelves? then sell to us at X price or take a hike. If your interested in deals, you can always find something online. Id rather support some shop out in PA selling cheap bulk ammo then walmart selling same ammo at a couple dollars difference.
  3. Most if not all of my run ins with LEO have been warranted and very polite. I have noticed one thing tho, most if not all of the cases which i found the LEO to be a complete D*ck was Newbies on the force and the younger guys. Even when i stop in the station i get this attitude from the younger guys on the force... The older ones are much cooler and respectful, its like night and day between the two. I can barely talk to the younger guys without feeling like there tying to belittle me, but i can and have had long conversations with some of the older guys and there pretty cool and respectful. I remember being pulled over in paramus when i was stopped for tint on my car, which i do not have by the way.... It was an LEO in his mid 20's and he harassed me for 20mins over nothing because he couldn't find something to write me up for, and then pretended like he was doing me a favor by letting me go with no ticket... I had to put him in place, someone had to... he made me late for class over nothing and was kinda laughing at the fact, really obnoxious...
  4. Guh, totally not in the mood to go searching but im pretty sure there are laws against pointed them at people in NJ, and i believe the FDA has federal regulations as well. To be honest the only reports are probably from helicopters, which are pretty damn good at locating things on the ground and can fly low enough to even be effected by a laser. And the source of the beam is a dead give away and sticks out like a soar thumb. The FAA is also a no BS organization and probably has some serious procedure in place when something like this happens.
  5. I would have politely asked for there badge numbers and supervisors name, then asked.. is this a legal reason to stop a vehicle(bumper stickers), is this consider profiling? I would have asked for the stations Phone number, and the procedure for writing a formal complaint of harassment. Of course being polite and respectful. They will get the idea that your not really interested in pressing charges but u just want them to F off.
  6. That's ridiculous, and doesn't even make sense. If you are asked or ordered to step out of your vehicle, takes the keys with you and lock your doors. I'm pro-active during traffic stops.. since i'm aware of most of my rights i keep the cops on there toes, not how they usually do things that's for sure. I also have a tendency to waste their time if the stop is unwarranted. I know where i keep all my papers and ID but i will usually waste a couple mins pretending to look for them. It also serves to break up some of the tension of the initial stop. During this time, i ask why i am being stopped, this gives me a good idea of what intentions the police officer has. When there not up front about why they stopped you, chances are they are looking for something.. which can be a very dangerous situation. Cops are trained to investigate and interrogate, the best way to diffuse this is to answer a question with another question, this serves to create a balance in the interrogation aspect(just don't be sarcastic). I also turn the recorder on my phone on. I have never butt heads with the Police, and being hostile is a very bad idea, but there are ways to make sure your rights are not violated while being calm and respectful, even if they do not show the same. When you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to loose, but i always exercise my rights.
  7. I dont know a whole great deal of details but i had read this. Patrols at night were conducted in areas of complete darkness, and under conditions far too hazardous to conduct residential searches. Night missions were confined to general police patrol to prevent looting and other criminal activity. On occasion, night patrols were supported by members of the Oklahoma Air National Guard who flew helicopters missions with searchlights and forward looking infrared radar (FLIR) in support of the patrols. source: http://www.policechiefmagazine.org/magazine/index.cfm?fuseaction=display_arch&article_id=808&issue_id=22006 It was evident to me that the whole city was going crazy with or with out the police/LE presence. Whether this is true or not i do not know.
  8. lol, i know u were being sarcastic, but there was a lot of truth behind it. young kids looking up to gangsters, and people's greed/envy for things they cannot afford.
  9. This guy is clearly a nut job. I mean seriously why would anyone speak up for what they believe in? I mean this isnt USA or anything.
  10. great episode! In sniper school, They made the trainees make there own guile suits, had to maneuver across large areas, and shoot a marker twice from the same spot all with out being spotted.
  11. He's not referring to socioeconomics. He is talking about social and economics as two different aspects.
  12. And to take it a step further, during the Kartina disaster, police and military presence was very high. Criminals will never think logically, and that is a very good point.
  13. I'm loving the comments on the article, i think every comment tore that editorial apart.
  14. I'm not sure if he is referring to white collar crimes, but this is about violent criminals.
  15. I here this saying all the time in my field of science, and it's probably one of my favorite around. It basically means just because something is related doesn't mean it is necessarily the cause. It's a way of looking at the broader picture of an issue and truly understanding the cause and effect. In this particular instance and what Vlad is saying is basically that just because there are less cops doesn't mean there will be more crime. Many factors contribute to crime.. less cops being only one of those factors. The economy is probably one of the biggest factors, many programs have been cut in these inner cities to keep people and kids out of lives of crime, many after school programs have been cut, and as a result these kids find themselves on the streets with nothing good to do. The fact still remains, when there is less opposition to crime, it will win. Gangs know that when there are less cops on the street, it is more likely they will get away with a crime. It's simple statistics. Does this mean crime will increase...no, it just means it is more likely they will get away with a crime.
  16. I was getting kinda nauseous watching the video... If they kept the camera still i would have liked it better, still pretty cool.
  17. I'm with the rest of the guys here, if you made arrangements and had them approved by management, then this is a temporary change of schedule, a schedule non the less. Your co-worker agreed and was confirmed to work during this time you had to leave early. What do you do? tricky situation. I for one do not help others who screw me over. I would not make a big stink about it with management, as they either care or they don't and not much will change that. The way i see it, personal favor would be calling a co-worker last minute to fill in for you, professional responsibility is being scheduled to fill in for you. Big and noticeable difference between the two. I'm usually the quiet guy at work and people try and take advantage of this all the time. Little do they know i always get the last laugh, on my terms. You need to walk a fine line between being sneaky and professional. When people try and get the best of me, i smile and act like i don't care... revenge is a dish best served cold. Unfortunately your job carries great responsibility, if you walked out this guy would have been in a **** storm of trouble, but at the same time if a medic was needed then some person who needs medical attention suffers. So you covered for someone who sucks at life, to help others, a true catch 22.
  18. I was trying to figure out what this gun had to do with NJ... and then i figured it out... absolute fail just like NJ..
  19. Chuck Norris has been in the pro-gun movement for a while. I've seen a coupe of his ads here and there, he's even got a sense of humor and humility about all those jokes about him.
  20. I dunno if it's the way you worded your question, but it is evident to me that you are in possession of this pistol? I would go apply for a pistol permit asap, also i would start reading up on NJ gun laws. I would not mention this so called pistol ever again until you have proper paperwork which shows a legal transfer of it to you. Don't assume anything..... this is NJ and nothing makes sense. Do you even have a Firearms ID card?
  21. I was visiting a friend at Seton Hall a couple years ago and was approached while sitting at a red light just a few blocks from the school by a couple of hoodlums. Needless to say i ran every red light until i got to campus.. i dont think ive been back there since, i dont think i've ever been so scared in my life either. I've driven through parts of Newark and felt safer.. that kinda sums it all up.
  22. I just bought an Otis kit and called it quits, lol, but i do use hoppes lube as well.
