  1. I'm pretty sure what ever your listing should correspond to the correct sub-forum. If you intend on selling something non-firearms related, it would go in the NJGF-list, and part of that listing would be what you consider an acceptable offer for the item. Same would go the other way around, if you wanted to sell a firearm for something non-firearm related it would go in the marketplace. I'm sure a mod or maks will confirm as i've seen things like this moved before.
  2. Sorry, i wrote it from my BB earlier today, and just to be fair this is a casual environment, i come on here to get away from all the BS, not endure more. I have had a job since i was 16 and go to school all week so i don't need people crawling up my A$$, i get it all week long. I have never felt entitled to anything, and understand that hard work is what gets you there, not some piece of paper. I understand that you don't need an education to succeed in life, but i don't see people hiring your avg high school graduate to work at a finance firm, or an engineering firm.
  3. Axeman I think were more on the same page then u think. I wasn't suggesting that they be carried in any way, but just like maks did its supposed to be an learning experience. you guys open your doors to these kids and they should be grateful to that not feel entitled, and should act in such a mannar. However, you should look at these kids as if they never had a real job. Let's face it most summer jobs don't care what you bring to the table other them u show up and do ur work. So there experience is limited. What I mean by PAve the way is give them insight to what business look for in employees and it is there decosion to mold thermselves based on those qualities. I would bet that half the applicants you discard are actually good workers that offer a lot but have no idea how to present themselves.
  4. My generation doesn't have a sense of entitlement just delusion. It's not what we think were owed, it's what we think we will get if we do x,y and z. The reality is every one does x,y and z and they think they will get what they have, then realize they probably should have done something different. At least this guy is on the right track, math and economics, and not business. To me, school and education actually makes a big difference. If this kid was a communications major i'd probably say he's a lost bet. Seriously tho, math and economics are not easy degrees, and some one pursuing both should have an opportunity to experience the real world to acquire these skills that you want. Your not hiring an employee right? your hiring a student, and should treat him like one. If your going to expect great things from interns you have to push them and lead the way, not necessarily expect them to know it right off the bat. Maybe put together an application for the interns to fill out which asks the questions you would like answered. Pave the way for them, dont be your typical run of the mill business which wants the best of the best to file paperwork and make coffee.
  5. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/03/18/utah.state.firearm/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn Utah's got my vote!
  6. I would go with the RRA over the S&W, main reason being that you can get many nice features from factory that s&w dont have. RRA will also make your AR AWB complaint at factory. When i ordered mine they had no issues swapping out the collapsible stock for the operator fixed which is a really nice stock, its probably 3/4 the length of a regular fixed stock so its shorter + 2 battery compartments, and they pinned/welded the break on for me at no additional cost and threw in 10rd mags. I know with S&W you need to either get there AWB model or do the rest yourself. RRA is really nice and they will custom make your AR, and most come standard with the 2-stage trigger people love, and i concur. and they include a nice carry case. This is my operator 2 elite w/eotech xps-2-0/RRA eotech co-witness rear site and magpul mags from midwestpx. Only thing i want to change on the rifle is the hand guard, which will be swapped out for a DD lite rail, but that costs a 1/4 of what i paid for the rifle. Your best option for what it seems you want would be to do an eotech or aimpoint with a magnifier. You get close range, and flip the magnifier down for 3x. I dont really think QCB is an option for AR's in NJ, my idea of this would be an barrel length of 14" or even 12", a 16" barrel AR even with a fully collapsed stock is still to big IMHO to be considered QCB. You wont be able to shoot past 300 yards in nj anyway and a 16" barrel will do that. It's all about the purpose of the rifle, and you should focus on one purpose. Loading the gun with accessories to make it multi-purpose will actually just turn it into a paperweight. A QCB rifle should be short and light with essential options like small scopes and small lights. A long range rifle will be very heavy, most of the weight from the barrel, figure in a bi-pod and diesel scope. Just munch on the primary purpose of the rifle. FYI- a lot of the FFL's i went to in the area tried to charge me for new gun transfers for my RRA. I asked them if they were a distributor for RRA and they said no but could get them either way. This basically meant they could buy stock, but couldn't order directly from RRA, not only that but they wanted more then what RRA advertised, which meant they were clearly just middle men add tax and you might as well buy from out of state or find a real distributor from off there website, i went through http://www.ar15sales.com/rracomp.htm very nice gentlemen ordered it for me had it within the month, and charged me 50 bucks less then what RRA advertised. While the FFL i went through gave me heat over buying it from some one else, i kinda made it a point to make them realize the gun was custom made and not some over stocked rifle off a production line. Once he asked what was so special about it, he gave up once i said it was being converted to be AWB complaint, he wanted nothing to do with it! said as long as it comes NJ legal he would do the transfer at regular price or else it's getting sent back at my expense.
  7. American beauty is a story about breaking free from societal views and the struggle of right and wrong. The gun in the movie was a symbol of American ignorance, plenty of that to go around. I guess this hippie decided to skip literature class.
  8. BMW started using run flats because they needed them for cars that don't have spare tires. Then they realized how much money they could make off them since they cost 1/2 more then a regular tire, and of course add in the luxury of never having to change a flat tire again.
  9. Solar power has become much more efficient then it used to be, cheaper too. For the price of a 50watt panel 5 years ago u could probably get a 150watt today. One thing i wanted to see improve were those solar strips, they came in laminated rolls. The product never seemed to hit the market but it was a great idea.
  10. It is completely dependent on your houses power consumption. In my house there is no chance in hell that would be enough since some one is always home using power of some sort. However, if your not home during the day then it could power your house if you have enough batteries to support your power needs. During the day when your gone that should be plenty to recharge the batteries. At 12volts that's about 250amps of charging power which can be distributed to your (12v)batteries which can support about 20 batteries. at 130ah per battery you have roughly 2600ah in storage. which will run a 1500watts continuously for about 100 hours.
  11. That is only what the panels support, if you were to have a direct hook up. Since the power actually runs off the batteries and not the panels you can get much more power, but the batteries will deplete based on the difference of power in power out and # of batteries . Hence having them as a buffer. This allows you to run high power usage appliances for periods of the day like a microwave. They still need to be charged which means u need more power going into the system then out, so u would need a system that captures enough energy to charge the batteries while running the houses regular appliances, lights, tv, computer. If your not home for a decent amount of time, with everything off, a small system with a lot of batteries would work. If your home all the time, then a large system with not so many batteries may be better. so its about balancing the power in and power out vs stored energy. I dont think many people take into consideration that the batteries are probably the most important part of the whole system.
  12. that's why i said conservatively, lol and went on to list a 5,000watt system. Just trying to give a relative cost per kw. Hell, a standard microwave will run about 1,000watts. Remember, the purpose of solar energy is not to run completely on solar power, it's just way to expensive to set up a system for that. These systems are designed to take a large enough load off your grid consumption so you save money. When your making more energy then u use you can dump it into the grid and the power company will pay u for it, and when u need more then the system can support it will take it from the grid. Your looking at over 50k for a stand alone system since you would need a significant amount of power management and batteries to run the system during dark hours, and then charge them while in use during light hours. Take into account that everyday is not sunny, then u need even more power in reserve = even more batteries. If you want good batteries, there relative dangerous and very expensive. Add in the cost to replace the batteries every 10 years or sooner.
  13. I agree, unfortunately renewable energy is not worth the hassle and doesn't offer much on the small scale. To take advantage of renewable energy you need to put together a very efficient system, meaning you can support the house during the dark hours, and keep it running during the light hours while also charging the batteries. These systems use the batteries as a buffer and a power source. I would be aiming for at least 100watts per panel. You could buy some trickle chargers for some deep cycles and leave it at that. In the event you have a power outage the power will most likely be back on by the time the batteries would be charged again from a small solar power system. I have been following solar power systems for a while now, and right now, unless you plan on dumping around 10k into a system its basically a waste of money. efficiency is the key to it all and right now efficiency=$$$ For about 10k you can purchase a 3,000watt systems that will easily run your home, conservatively. for 20k you could get a 5,000watt system. Most of them are warranted for 20 years too. plus batteries, its very expensive the point is to make up the difference in free energy. If your paying an electrical bill already then whats 1-2 bucks to keep the batteries charged a month..
  14. You already have all the paper work that needs to be handed in tho, they can start to file your application now. Once your fingerprinted the state police will send them the background check.
  15. You dont have to wait to be finger printed to hand in the application, and i'm wondering how the references are completed with out having handed in the application.
  16. Well, nj has new anti-bullying laws, we'll see how that plays off. It may make it harder for kids to stand up for themselves since they will be expected to report bullying, kinda like NJ gun laws, retreat and report.
  17. It works the same for drugs, if no one claims possession it is guilty by association. They add this BS so there is always someone or someone's to charge, they don't care who is right or who is wrong. One of my friends was a DD one night we went out to party, on her way home she was dropping friends off and got pulled over, she explained she was sober and the DD for the night, they didnt care, pulled her from the car and searched it for no reason, the passengers were intoxicated needless to say. Upon searching the car they found a bag of coke under the back seat, her friend had tried to hide it, no one claimed the coke and she was charge with possesion. They said anything in her car was her responsibility, even though she did not know about it. She took a drug test at the station and came up clean. Charges stood and she went on probation for a year. So i guess NJ expects you to either have stand up friends, or perform a strip search for each person getting into your car. Even more so, if someone brings a firearm into your car with out your knowledge you could be charge with illegal possession and transport of a firearm. NJ law was made so they don't have to do any real police work, i'm sure many police officers out there would agree for better or worse.
  18. haha. I think someone brought the stripper from the bachelors part.
  19. Well, i'll give them credit for finding an informed source, at least they try and do the right thing unlike some.
  20. I would like some one to touch on what someone said previously in this thread. If your married, by law you share ownership of everything within the partnership. Not sure how ownership and possession relates to this situation which is what im eager to find out.
  21. Honestly, for 1000 bucks you can pretty much have your pick of a complete medium-high quality AR. I purchased my RRA for $950 which is the Operator 2 Elite. You wont be getting top quality for that price but u can def. find something good and reliable. The 1000 dollar mark is the middle range i would say, once you go over that your money goes towards specialty items specific to the use of the rifle, higher tolerances, better barrels, better materials, better gas systems or piston systems. The Daniel defense lite rail i want costs 300 bucks alone, so you get the picture. Colt makes some really nice bare bone platforms around that price, and you can build upon a top quality platform as you go and see fit. The great thing about these are you can spend more money on a top notch plat form, and spread the cost out with saving money on things you may have bought and not needed.
  22. Probably. Once your fingerprinted in NJ with the new system, your there forever at the click of a button. I might freak if they told me to go pay another 60 bucks so they can replace my fingerprints with the same ones... your prints do not change over time so that is probably the dumbest thing ever. I could see years ago when there was no central system, the PD's held onto your prints, so they charged you every time you went to a new PD. And apparently you need to be scanned into the system, they wont manually do it for your ink prints. FYI- this system was introduced just a couple years ago, and some PD's just upgraded at the last minute in nov. when they were required by state. So if you never got digital prints taken then next you apply the will probably tell you to get new print taken.
