  1. If you need good accurate factory rounds. This is the deal to beat... I like them because if you get at this price you can keep using the brass. Good stuff! To load 200 rounds with same brass, bullets, powder and primers is about not much savings( if you can get proper powder). I get 1/2 or less at 100 with my kimber 8400 http://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal-gold-medal-match-308-winchester-ammo-168-gr-smkhp-gm308m-p-1163.aspx or try the 175s might be better for the 600.. when in stock http://www.targetsportsusa.com/federal-gold-medal-308-win-175-gr-ammo-smkhp-gm308m2-p-1744.aspx Good Luck!
  2. Or just pick up some federal GMM 168 or 178 grain ammo its good stuff and if you cant get component's to reload its good stuff that wont kill your wallet too bad.and the brass is great to reload.
  3. For me most of my 308 i start with 42gr imr 4064 and 168gr smk or 168gr amax.might go up or down very little. Its a pretty accurate load with both bullets but you will get more velocity from the amax in. My experience. That's after you fireform brass and only neck size. Also getting the proper seat depth for each rifle is key. Other than that try to get each brass uniform. Never exceed mam load vor any powder with bullet weight not worth it. If the bullet ant working at close go max change the bullet. Just my 2 cents.
  4. Anyone know of local NJ spots open this weekend with Varget ,reloader 15 or imr 4064 in stock? or have some to sell looking for 2lbs. Thanks
  5. the NJDEP still says kid are free when the pass the course... http://www.nj.gov/dep/fgw/hntlicfe.htm#youth
  6. I have shot over 2000 rounds of Freedom munitions 40sw in my 22 with no issues. I can also say that at work they buy like 40.000 rounds of factory at a time and at the range last year I found a few rounds were the bullets were loaded into the brass upside down. We would get failers sometimes as well. Thats why you should practice how to get back into the fight weather factory or reman ammo. Could have been a bad lot but what ya going to do right. I think that the issue with reloads is that if you just get them from some guy who cooked them up in his home lab you have no way of knowing his QC process with brass powder load head space ect... With major companies like freedom munitions the would be using standards like factory new just with reprocessed brass. Just my 2 cents! Good Luck!
  7. a review of the rifle. http://www.snipercentral.com/kimber-8400-tactical/
  8. buy the time your done getting a 700 a scope base, trigger and stock you could just buy a tuned Kimber 8400 they are worked, bedded, the bolt has work, trigger is sweet mine is 3lbs and worked at the factory and tested to .5 moa before shipping in a Pelican case. Then get a SWFA scope with TPS rings and be done with it and have a rifle capable of .5 MOA out the box! I just went threw the same research process as you are doing and if you have the money up front this is the way to go. Just an other way to look at it. its still way cheaper then a custom gun. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=471689864 http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-10x42-Tactical-Riflescope-P53712.aspx http://swfa.com/TPS-Tactical-Scope-30mm-Rings-P41991.aspx Good luck!
  9. You can just do the neck with this die?
  10. http://www.midwayusa.com/product/935667/redding-premium-series-deluxe-3-die-set-308-winchester?cm_vc=ProductFinding is this a good set?
  11. Bob, Unfortunately I got a new caliber it's 308. At least I can use some of the same bullets as my garand and o3. In the garand I FL size the brass and try to match them up for consistent mesure. And the 03 I fire formed the brass trim, neck size and match the brass. Any idea on the "match chamber"
  12. so I am a semi noob to reloading and reload for 38 special and 3006 for my grand and 1903a3. I have just picked up a kimber 8400 advanced tactical and want to get more precise loads development for it. It is advertised as a match chamber. First what does that mean just tighter to spec? Next I know neck sizeing is the way to go for fire formed brass but with a match chamber would full size work as well since it should not expand much at all in a match chamber? I am trying to get well below moa with this rifle at 100 to 300 yards since it's kind of built for that with a good scope . I get 1.5 -2" group with my old battle rifles and would expect more from this. Any help or in site would be appreciated .

  14. true! http://www.selfdefensepsa.com/secrets.html if it is that kind of shooting not a match or range fun! all and all its a loss of fine motor skills and you don't even see the sights you see people shooting back! and you point and shoot to hit your target muscle memory and the basics is all you need up close to fight for your life.
  15. That all good! My opinion.. If you want to learn to be a good marksman then you need to learn how( Again my Opinion right).. I can see how it can give confidence to a new shooter but like when I teach someone how to shoot a bow or guns we go without all the cams and optics lasers and such. all they are is a crutch for your own skill and compensate for short comings of marksmanship. but they do build confidence in a new shooter because it a ton easier to hit the bull. Teach them the difference if they show an interest in the sport they will love the challenge and benefits in the long run. .. Again not a bad thing most optics can turn an poor shooter into an good one. but a marksman they are not. . http://www.thenewrifleman.com/marksmanship-basics-the-new-shooters-guide/
  16. I love my Irons!! but am trying my hand at the long range game so a scope is needed! Everything has its place but Irons will always work and be there when you need them. To learn shooting you must use irons "Sight alignment" then "Sight picture" and "trigger control" new shooters need to know how this works and a 4x red dot wont teach you that!
  17. Wow! Thanks Bob good to know
  18. nice to know! I would probably do it for my own neurotic self...
  19. go to a shop and hold them both. I have both and love them for different reasons. If I were to have only one I would look into an older smith used, or an Old Colt Trooper Mark III
