  1. Yeah I remember seeing them at SS for the 228/229 but not 220/226, will give them a call.
  2. I have a Sig P226 E2 (factory made, not retrofitted) and I'm quite happy with it. Anyone looking to handle one/shoot one to see if the service might be worth it can drop me a PM, maybe we can work something out.
  3. Yeah tomorrow I'm going to call around for one, if I can't find one locally I grab it online and just take the hit for fast shipping. Unless for some reason I can't find one, I'll be there.
  4. As Krdshrk mentioned, Sunday was my first time shooting competitively, drawing from a holster, reloading with any sort of expediency in mind, shooting from behind cover, as well as shooting faster than 1 shot a second. I think I'm about as much of a novice as you're likely to find. I'll try and write something up, give me a few days.
  5. Will check my schedule, but I'm definitely interested.
  6. Oh christ I look like that guy who dropped mags and took forrrreeeeeeever, had a great time though.
  7. Oh boy oh boy. Maybe someday I won't have to travel to PA to feel like I can defend myself!
  8. I had just about all of the same questions and found this neat little rulebook that answered all of them. IDPA Rulebook
  9. WHOA. Play a round on Nuketown and check the sky. What does it mean?!
  10. OH MY JESUS ITS AN AK47 ASSAULT WEAPON AREN'T THOSE ILLEGAL???11!!!!!!oneoneone
  11. Ahh balls, I need to drive exactly there to get to class. Sorry for the unfortunate sight.
  12. Yeah I would very much like to participate but I don't own a holster for my 226. Does anyone know of a place I could pick one up in the Somerset County area? If not I'll try and order online and hope for fast shipping. I checked the rulebook and pocketing the mags seems legal, so I'm only out a holster.
  13. Yeah Glenn conned me into going. Also, Gleeeeeeeennnnnn take me shooting again, SCFGPA hasn't called waaaaaaaah.
  14. When I applied for my FPID and Pistol Permits, I did check the box for "Have you ever been treated for any psychiatric conditions etc". Back in high school, for about a month I was treated for mild clinical depression which it turns out was more affected by the coming winter and a death in the family. This did bring my app process to a grinding halt, as they said they required a letter from the doctor who treated me stating I was fit to own a firearm/not impaired in any way. After stalling for about two weeks when they insisted they contacted him, I tracked down his number and called him myself. He told me they never called/wrote/faxed anything which is what I had expected. After making a big enough fuss they DID write him a letter (a week later) and he responded that yes of course I'm fit to own/operate a firearm. After a bit more stalling on the PD's part, (and more calls from me) my FPID/PP's came through and that was that. Sorry if this is too much info, but it seemed like an experience others might want to hear if they were in a similar situation, debating whether or not to apply. Long story short, it slowed the process down but didn't end it. YMMV.

    Sig SRT for 226

I own a p226 E2 in 9mm and have only excellent things to say about it. The factory SRT is really nice, there is very minimal take-up before it breaks. The Short Trigger compliments it well; I get excellent purchase on the trigger even with my average/small hands. I haven't fired a p226 that had an SRT installed after the fact, so I can't compare it to much. It should be noted though that when field stripping an SRT equipped Sig, one must use the Decocker to lower the hammer as the slide comes off. B)
  16. When I first inspected her at the FFL dealer I swear I heard "Isn't she lovely" by Stevie Wonder in the background. I wish I was joking about this, maybe they were messing with me.

Ahh, I'm an RV student as well. Off to Homeland Security/Emergency Management in a few hours actually. Tomorrow would be great, I'd really appreciate it. What would I need to bring (DL/FPID etc) if anything?
  19. Thanks for all the welcome's, I'm from Basking Ridge.
  20. Hi guys, I recently posted in the "introductions" forum and I'll try not to repeat myself too much. My name is Mark and I'm a college student in Somerset County. My girlfriend's father was a former member of the SCFGPA and has only great things to say about it's members and facilities. I mailed my request to be placed on the waiting list about a week ago, and was wondering if any of the regulars there would be willing to "guest" me in so I could take a look around/shoot if possible. I'd be happy just to see the facilities, and even happier to get some range time. I wasn't sure if this should go in the Range/Shop or in Events/Meetups, I apologize if this isn't the right place. Thanks in advance, safe shooting! Mark P
