  1. I saw a student's interview in which the phrase "big 50 cals" was used.
  2. I'm confused. Are you saying you don't tolerate the discussion in this thread and that discussing the efficiency (or inefficiency) of things is bad? I'm assuming I'm misreading your post because neither of those things make a lot of sense.
  3. Oh...on an AR. Through 11 posts I still had no idea what you were talking about. It matters, because compensators aren't illegal and threaded barrels in many cases aren't illegal either.
  4. Gluing them on what? Though it might be dumb, ineffective, and not work well, what would make it illegal?
  5. Also, Old Dog, can you please stop starting threads just to promote your blog? One thread would suffice.
  6. “I will provide our intelligence and law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to track and take out the terrorists without undermining our Constitution and our freedom. That means no more illegal wiretapping of American citizens. No more national security letters to spy on citizens who are not suspected of a crime. No more tracking citizens who do nothing more than protest a misguided war. No more ignoring the law when it is inconvenient.” Who said that? Any guesses?
  7. Welcome to the world where hurting someone's feelings can be worse than physically hurting someone. This is the type of thing where emailing him a 'hurt feelings report' or leaving one anonymously on his desk/in his file would be appropriate. If there is anything I have learned from similar situations, is that when people get butthurt over comments like that it usually means that the comment is pretty accurate, and it applies to that person or that persons friend/family/mistress/etc. Oh yeah, and also, if that person happens to be your boss, they usually don't appreciate it!
  8. Irony. The irony being that the FDLE that has been filled with misconduct and corruption allegations in the past are the ones who made the arrest and booking, and had one of their own agents picked to replace the Sheriff they arrested. Nothing to see here...
  9. I only remember a handful of those things, but that is likely because I'm a 90's kid. I'm not sure which era seems more ridiculous now though. The 90's was...unique.
  10. Why? But also, further on the list So I'm good, right?
  11. He didn't kill them so his life must not have really been in danger. He is a criminal and should be in jail for that. Oh wait, wrong thread...or is it?
  12. The good news is that the old 'snobs' who would look down on new shooters and people using inexpensive shotguns seem to be dying out (or they've came around and became more accepting). I've started to shoot a fair amount of trap, and despite the majority of the shooters being older guys, there are a lot of younger people shooting and most are friendly and don't give you that nasty look because you brought an 870 or 600 dollar O/U. I watched a guy with a $40,000 shotgun get out shot someone with a 20 gauge and shorter barrel SxS. There isn't much point in saying that besides good shooters can hit with anything.

    Un-pinning an AR stock

Thanks for the hints. I'm sure if I took the time to find some better tools I'd have the pin out by now. I thought I had a bit wedge in it to pull it out with. Broke the bit. Oops. I'll get the sucker out one of these days.
  14. The Dolph Lundgren collection box DVD set. Non-lubricated condoms. 4'' garden sheers. Big league chew. Sharpie. Front and rear bags. Targets. Staple gun and staples. Magazine loaders. Lubrication/oil. Gloves, eyes, ears.
  15. Well I got good news and bad news. For those concerned about how permanent or how well simply using a roll pin or tension pin is to make your once collapsible stock into a fixed one... it is pretty darn permanent. For those who maybe have left NJ and want to return it to a functioning collapsible stock again...good luck. I know I can get that pin out. Positive. What I'm not so sure about is if I can get it out without drilling all the way through both the buffer and stock. Magpul MOE stock. Fixed using nothing more then a single tension pin. Clean hole, pin not too far in. Seems like there may be a little bit of play. Thing doesn't budge. I feel like I can get it to turn, or maybe even get it to pull out...no such love. I'll get it out eventually, but the stock isn't going to look very pretty any more. Just figured I'd share my useless tail of futility. The point being, I am pretty confident that a simple roll pin will suffice for those wishing to pin a stock themselves.
  16. The amount of misinformation in this thread is astounding. Even worse, the people making wrong claims didn't even bother to look up the actual statutes, and just went off of assumptions. NJ sucks, I know. That is why I left. But it helps to know what sucks about it and why. Here is some help.
  17. Is it okay if I complain about the people complaining about people complaining?
  18. It is true prices go up and have been going up at a pretty consistent rate. However, after Dec 2012 we saw prices double or more in a matter of weeks, and haven't decrease a whole lot since. That is not the normal increase that would be expected. All the prices I listed were from actual purchases within the past 365-545 days.
  19. I think we mostly agree. After reading more about what happened, it seems much more boneheaded then I thought before. As I said, I'm not sure why he did that, or what going through his head. I still don't think he is a criminal.
  20. I agree. Not sure, and waiting till a criminal gets into my house sounds like a much worse idea than firing a warning shot, as bad as an idea that is too. Apples and oranges. Driving drunk is stupid and selfish. Protecting yourself/family/property is a legitimate purpose even if you may have gone about it in a less than ideal method. As I said, I don't advocate warning shots. I don't know why he did it. I don't know what he was thinking. I don't know his life experience. I wasn't there. But he certainly doesn't sound like a criminal to me. I'm not sure anybody is but this is reality. Sure, I don't disagree. I said I don't think he should be criminalized for his actions, as I believe you suggested. A fine for a local ordinance discharge violation is far different from being arrested and your firearm taken. 1. I said I wasn't advocating warning shots. 2. You seriously think the only use for a firearm is to kill? It is impossible to stop a crime by drawing a firearm unless you shoot them? Despite that ridiculous notion, and regardless of whether or not you think it is a good idea, I can assure you, guns have been used effectively in situations where nobody got shot. So you must wait until someone is an immediate threat, losing any upper hand you may have had, putting yourself at much greater risk first? Are you suggesting he had criminal intentions? Yes, you can exercise poor judgment with well meaning intentions. I'm not sure what reality you live in. People do dumb things with good intentions all the time. Sometimes it gets people hurt or killed. Sometimes it doesn't. It should be addressed. It doesn't necessarily mean they are criminals.
  21. I can't tell if you were going for irony or not but the ad hominem's worked well.
  22. So wait, he thinks the US should be 50 separate countries, the government and all federal laws and regulations should be abolished and not replaced, with no real plan to accomplish this nevertheless the consequences or results of it would be. That is a big turn from government accountability and preventing overreach, or holding them to act within their lawful authority. (< <) slowly walking away........
  23. Unless I missed the article about a guy randomly getting shot mowing his lawn by a stray round, I'd say he didn't hit anybody. Since we can't go back in time and change events that already took place, what good does it do saying "what if he hit an innocent person." If you want to play that game, then I have an equally likely one. What if the robber felon didn't think he was going to do anything and pulled out a gun of his own? What if the felon did attack him? What if simultaneous to the warning shot, Barney Fife while shooting at a range a half a mile away overshot the berm and the round hit his neighbor mowing his law? He stopped a crime. Nobody got hurt. Sounds like a win-win to me. It never fails to amaze me how many of you so called gun advocates actually argue against using guns in real scenarios, and the only option is do nothing or kill someone. As if stopping a crime without hurting anyone is now a bad thing. The only way to stop criminals is straight vigilante justice? Pass. For the record, I'm not a big fan of 'warning shots'. I'm also not a big fan of criminalizing someone with well meaning intentions when they don't hurt anybody just because they might have in your made up hypothetical.
  24. Unless state law specifically criminalizes carrying in establishments the prohibit it, in which case there are usually specific requirements like posted signs at all entrances and what type of sign it must be, it is not illegal to carry there. It would only be illegal to refuse to leave AFTER being asked. Then it has nothing to do (legally) with the firearm, and it becomes a criminal trespassing issue. Carrying a firearm on amusement park rides is pretty dumb when you don't have a proper holster that will retain it in that situation. Carrying a firearm on an amusement park ride with proper retention, SA, and basic non-idiot tenancies is just fine. Leaving a firearm so it can be found by a child (or anyone really, there are a lot of morons out there) may in fact be a criminal act. I don't know Florida law. I wouldn't be surprised if the firearm was confiscated. Anyone know if that constitutes criminal negligence or something similar in FL?
