  1. I have the 112 Valve King. I think it is pretty versatile and I could get a very good to great sound for whatever style I was going for. The texture nob is not as noticeable at bedroom levels but is there a little when cranked. I always meant to change the speaker but have not really seen a reason to yet. I have had mine since 2006 or 2007.
  2. Tried setting up an old Lyman 55 measure ( it was free along with an old T-Mag ) for 46 grains of 4064. I kept getting readings between 45.9 and as high as 46.7 ( one throw ). The highest few were 46.5. The average swing was 45.9 to 46.3. 4064 does seem to be a very long stick powder to what I am use to and could be the reason for the variation and the difficulty with the swing arm on the measure. I hit the tap at both the top and bottom for those that are familiar with the 55. I have been reloading pistol almost 20 years and I am not use to seeing swings like this! Will a .5 grain swing make that much difference with 150-155s in a 30-06? Is this variation acceptable for general range loads or should I go lower and trickle it up separately? I am under the starting load from IMRs website and do not want to damage the op rod. I hope to stay in the 2500-2600 fps area and have no intention of trying to go 2800 plus. Most of my shooting will be casual 1-200 yard with the occasional 300 thrown in. Brian
  3. I thought I could make it there but my wife made other plans. See you next year. Brian
  4. Only if you like to send the RO to the dentist, and ear doctor!
  5. Shit like crap but had fun. It is always nice to get out and shoot!
  6. Happy belated USAF! I had the time of my life in the Air Force!
  7. I am a fan of the 30-06 and already have ammo for it, and if I get a 308 I would have an excuse for an M1A or possible AR10 addition. I am not really interested in a .223 at this time but I agree it does easily satisfy my current want. I am use to a Garand and a Mauser. I like to feel what I am shooting. I like the packages because I would only have to tune them up by tightening up the mounts with a little locktite. I know I may have to upgrade eventually and it would make sense to do them separately but for only playing the precision rifle game a few times a year I think either scope would be OK. I do think the Nikon would be the better scope, quality wise, but the bushnell reviews do not seem that bad either. Brian
  8. I am thinking of getting a scoped rifle for 100-300 yard shooting at CJ. It will be more for just messing around with for a change of pace from the pistols. I prefer 30-06 or .308. I have no intention of ever trying to build a 1000 yard rifle or anything like that. The scopes included are a 4-12x40 bushnell or a 3-9 Nikon BDC, depending on the model. I may eventually upgrade but will most likely keep the scope for a while. Both feature the Savage Accutrigger. I would have no intention of upgrading the stocks unless I become obsessed with the build and I doubt that it would happen. How are these package rifles? How are the scopes that are included? I have always heard good things about Savages with accuracy. I have shot some 700s that I liked but I also did not like the package 700s that friends have bought. I appreciate any input, good or bad. Brian
  9. No. I am signed up for open. I haven't shot it in years! My revolver is a magna ported 686. I would automatically be in open.
  10. My momma said life is like a box of brass. You never know what you are gonna get!
  11. Signed up, I might actually start dry firing to get ready.
  12. Dry fire can take you very far! It can teach you everything except for recoil management and true shot calling if you are honest with yourself Get yourself a timer or timer app. Do some draws and reloads and work up the speed a little by pushing it. Record yourself or watch in a mirror and see how smooth you are. You can also work on target transitions with dry fire. Make some small targets and plates and tape them to a wall.
  13. Everything is happening right on front of you. You just have to learn to see it!
  14. I forgot mags, competition belt and ammo. I even forgot to bring the gun and turned around and drove from 5 minutes from the range all the way home and then back. Each of these were on days that followed long nights at work.
  15. Saw Maksim on Enos and hit the link
  16. I will take first loser with 95% to an Open Master! Maybe I should dust off the old dot and bust it out since people seem to be shooting them again. The classifier worked out to be 85%. I will have to work out what my new percentage could be.
  17. That was fast! Thanks again Vlad, it was a fun match. It was nice to get out and have fun again! I paid the price with a headache from too much sun the rest of the day and yesterday though. Maybe it was dehydration? Brian
