  1. I agree! After B, shooting on the move becomes more important. Also stage breakdowns, timing of movers, knowing splits on transitions and second shots, CALLING Shots. (everyone thinks they can call them but they do not demonstrate it). To get out of B is where most shooters demonstrate a good foundation of fundamentals. I really like the enthusiasm that a lot of forum members have for competition shooting. It actually makes me look forward to getting back out there this year. Brian
  2. When I can shoot 95% or better than JJ, Max, Travis etc.
  3. The mental side is just as important as everything else! If you think that certain people are better than you, they are! If you know that you can beat them, you can! Having a strong desire to improve along with a honest practice regiment is all that is needed along with a strong belief that you can do it. B is the class where I think most people end up that do not really practice properly, if at all. A and M take more dedication and time but are not impossible by any means. GM introduces special challenges that are Unique to GM alone. It is exciting when you do rank up! It validates the work put in and the improvement shown. Congrats to all that get bumped up!!! Brian
  4. Mike was shooting very conservatively and safe, probably just getting some solid classifiers in as a base for a new Division. I know he can do high 4 second el pres's regularly.
  5. Depends on what it is for. Carry? Competition and what type or division is it meant for? Home defense? Pretty safe queen? Training? Single stack, you can not beat Caspian. doublestack I would go with a custom SV or STI.
  6. Unless they changed the rules recently, you can not shoot center fire rifle in any pit except the old 100 yard range which is now the 50 yard GP range. As long as it is not already being used you can do whatever you want there. Just make sure the rounds go in the berm!
  7. That was probably the only really bad stage I had. I had 12 loaded in the mags, figured that was enough, figured wrong and ran dry. I know what my mistake was though. My G35 shoots about 4 inches high at 25 yards, guess who changed the sights on my 1911 to shoot the same for a similar sight picture to make it easier to switch back and forth? I was aiming right at the middle of the plates wondering why all the rounds where high! After misses on the left side I started aiming lower and hit both, went right and aimed at the middle again and ran dry. Yay what fun! Maksim, how many shooters where there total? We were moving pretty well for the most part. Brian
  8. Vlad, Some of the issue with the popper might have been with the activator cord. If it was still a little taught and the slack was on the swinger side it seamed a little heavier, if the slack was on the steel side it seamed a little lighter. I hope I conveyed it properly but I tried to keep an eye on it after I was told of the issue. It still was a great match and I had a lot of fun! BTW, who's idea was it to have those small plates at 25 yards?????? That person is now off the Christmas Card list! Brian
  9. I had a blast today and met a lot of forum members, all great people (as I already knew). Raz-o, Maksim, Vlad: all outdid themselves again! Now I can't wait for the results! Nik's stage was pure evil! Brian
  10. In the world of optics you get what you pay for!!!!! The cheap sights have poor electronics and will die sooner rather than later. Go with a cmore sts, leupold (sp?) or a doctor if you really want a slide ride dot sight.
  11. For a holster just order a blade tech doh (drop and offset) to be done with it and get some cheap kydex double mag pouches. Later on you can order a competition belt but it certainly isn't necessary unless you know you will shoot in more competitions in the future. Get the holster for the 226 and I believe you should also be able to use the 229 in the same holster.
  12. Old Bridge is always a great time and a great match. Stage 5 was awesome with the timing although maybe a little complicated for a local match that now gets almost 100 people. Stage 1 was also cool with the timing for the dissappearer. Brian
  13. 100 yd range could be closed and have cars park there. There must be room for at least 60 cars there alone along both side burms.
  14. Vlad I challenge you to try and create a fast hoser stage where timing is critical for an activated swinger or dissappearing target! Brian
  15. For anyone that is interested, I took a class with Mike D years ago. I went from C class to Master within a year of that class. I soaked up everything he said and did and I dryfired almost everyday. I am sure anyone could benefit from a class with Mike. Brian
  16. I am off on fridays, that is the only day I am available but I can do morn or afternoon. I have 5 pieces of steel w/stands and 5 target stands already along with a timer. Brian
  17. You can do everything but recoil management with dryfire alone if you are honest with yourself and what you are actually seeing at the time you break each shot. At the range you can be as simple as 3 targets and you can practice a lot of drills on those alone. When you do practice at a range know what you are going there for and only practice that. Have a specific set of goals for each session and do not let it be more than 4 techniques total. Outside of a few warm up shots, practicing draws and reloads as well is almost a waste of your time. Either of those 2 are easier to practice at home. Some people like specific drills and some like to set up stages for practice. I prefer drills and feel that I get more out of them. When I practice I usually start with shooting a group to check zeros and then just work on timing drills, target to target, and then movement drills. If I feel any other skills are slipping or need work I will work on them, ie: strong hand/weak hand, retrievals w/empty or w/loaded, off balance or awkward shooting positions, transitions to prone and/or kneeling, barricades, aproaching or leaving ports, distance (40+yards)etc. Unwanted advise...if you find you are not really into the practice and are just throwing rounds downrange, just pack up and save your ammo. If you can not focus to improve or reinforce then you will not get anything out of it and may actually develop a bad habit(s) for the next match. Brian
  18. I would be up for doing some practices on Fridays if any one is interested. I can help instill lots of bad habits but I may be able to help as well. Brian
  19. What specific division for USPSA? For production or IDPA I would get a Bladetech with the DOH attachment (DOH off for IDPA). Get a good belt like a double alpha or CR speed and some mag holders, again CR speed. You can get everything at shooters connection shooters connection You can get by with just ordering FOBUS holster and mag pouches and be playing for less than 60 bucks and still be competitive. Brian
  20. I would drive around with them and wave them at everyone. Just kidding. Just keep everything in a trunk and if you are pulled over, if asked if you have any weapons, let the police officer know that you have "Toy airsoft pistols" and where they are.
  21. The reason you do not use the barrel is that you can slightly unlock the gun and the gun will not fire. It can also cause a serious death jam if the slide alone drags on the door, window or port and you will get a nice double feed.

    Hello

    Hi Ron. How is everything?
  23. MECH TECH I have seen and shot one of these. It consistantly hit skeet at 100yds with an old tasco pro point on it.

    Hello

I have been known to shoot a match here and there. No CJ next week. I work on Sundays and it is hard to get days off when I am out of Vac time. Thank You again for the welcomes from everyone. Brian
