  1. I did a defensive carbine class last month and the guy next to me was running one. Its definitely loud, when next to it, but behind isnt so bad. It just throws a nice fireball to either side. Looked like it kept his gun pretty steady, and we were encouraged to do rapid fire strings. Didnt move that much at all. And I've heard good things about the Dragon in general. If it's on your list, and you have the money, grab it.
  2. My build is close to finished. Just need a sight and a flash hider and it's good to go! 300 black pistol build. 7.5 inch barrel, m-lok hand guard, aero upper and lower, sba 3 brace, knock off raptor charging handle. Less than 36 inches fully extended. Second pic is full collapse with it's big brother, and second pic is both ar full extension.
  3. So I took the file to it. I had a nice thin square file that was perfect. It opened it up enough for me to see, so I can actually see the front sight now. And while searching the web for other best things with this rifle, I found peep sights in Ebay. They attach using the same screw that holds rear notch on. Simple screw on, screw off. And they come in different sizes for your target shooting preferences. So I might dabble in that when I have the money. I mean they're only 20 dollars if anyone interested, but I dont even have ammo for this thing yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  4. The notch is so narrow and shallow I have to hunt to pick up the sight picture. I've given thought to buying an extra rear sight and filing it wider. Keep the original to replace if I ever sell it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  5. Not from what I've seen. Best reversible option I've found is a mojo peep sight that replaces the rear leaf. But no one has it in stock. At least that I've found. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  6. Bit of both. I shoot what I buy no doubt. And the rifle isnt exactly in superb collector condition anyway. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  7. So I have a question about this. I cant see the front site through the rear leaf. I found a peep site I like but it required modifying the rifle. Is it worth drilling and tapping the reciever? I dont want to wreck the value, but I'd like to be able to shoot it some what accurately. It's a Willians 5D peep. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  8. When I got my first milsurp from my great grandmother's passing, i started researching it online. There are tons of resources and people on forums like this that just know a ton about what ever rifle you're looking for. Plus books, and forgotten weapons on YouTube are all fantastic sources. My current collection is only a few rifles, and the most common types. A Jap Type 99, Mosin 91/30, Carcano M91, Yugo M24/48 (stand in for german K98k since they're god awful expensive), and now the Lee-Enfield No1.MkIII. Still need a French MAS, swedish mauser, swiss K91, and some kind of US rifle. Most of what I know about those rifles all came from here or similar online sources. Some information is harder to come by tho so you might have to fill in the blanks here or there to get a rough idea about your rifle. And yeah, theres just something about these rifles that you cant explain. I like to think it's the history coming out. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  9. So I look all over the rifle today and got some good shots of the markings and cartouches on the stock. It's actually a No1.MkIII* produced in 43. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  10. Mine was 300. He had a No4 war time production that was 400. Which is an excellent price. Last show I went to were a little more expensive. Some pieces were 400, one table had a US production and asking 900 so it depends. In general prices for this era is going up. Some are more expensive than others. You can find good deals if you look hard enough, but prices are slightly lower than Jersey. Not by much tho. Last rifle I bought up there was a yugo mauser for 350 plus tax so right on par with down here. Modern stuff is hit or miss. Mostly gun stores with huge tables selling off inventory for a little less than retail so nothing spectacular. If you're ever in the Cape Coral/Fort Myers area. Hit me up, we'll hit a gun show if ones in town or hit the range. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  11. So I hit another gun show today, because I have a problem and I'll be damned if I'm going to seek help [emoji38]! This one was more geared towards surplus and historical arms and gear. Usually the gun show circuit down here is a little...rough. No ones really polite, just looking to make some money. Except this one. Met a wonderful gentleman selling off some of his collection (and boy it's a collection!) and talked for quite some time before I took off to see what kind of trouble I could get into. Came back around and got his SMLE No1.Mk3 with bayonet! Excellent condition. Wood is a little bedraggled but the metal is still in excellent condition. Bore is shiny, no pits or imperfections! 12. Been sick since Wednesday and today I had a little more pep in my step. So I hit the town, and the local fun show. Since I'm finishing up a 300 black pistol build, I wanted to add to my historical collection this time around. So I went hunting. And I scored a pretty decent piece. Grabbed a Carcano in 6.5mm. Not sure of the model, but its not the carbine. Was a toss up between that and an ishapore enfield, but 450 was a little out of the budget today. Spent 250 out the door on it. And for the price and condition I'm pretty happy with it. I know it wont be an accurate shooter, but as long as it gets it to the paper, I'm happy. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  13. Fair point. This is only the second time I'm flying with fire arms, so o just want to make sure I have all my bases covered. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  14. So it looks like I'm going to Arizona in October if my time off gets approved. I'm going to fly out with my 1911, but I'll have a layover in texas for an hour or two on the way. Itll be checked in my luggage, in its locked case (is the manufacturer case ok to fly with or do I need a new one?). Are there any concerns with the lay over? Anything I should know or do to make my flight easier? I'll be flying out of Ft Myers Florida, so it's a friendly airport. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  15. I don't like the 3.5 It holds the gun tight, and it fits on my belt tight, but it just doesn't feel right. There's something about it that I don't like. I've using my t-rex arms Nomad. That thing kicks ass, and I can't be happier with it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  16. This is how I'm leaving right now. The SPR build I want to do is going to run me close to if not over 1k, and that's just the base rifle, that's not including glass. I can do a .300 bo build for half that plus stamp. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  17. I'm torn bro. I really like the idea of an 8.5 inch 300 black. And it is a two stamp project, one for the SBR, one for the can. But it would be a lot of fun at 100 yards or less. And I love the idea of 6.5 grendel at range. Maintains velocity better than 5.56 at ranges greater than 500, and if I ever wanted to hunt with it, it has the legs for deer and yotes. As far as bolt guns go, I have my ww2 collection, and I'm looking at another mosin to butcher into a brush gun. 18 inch barrel, either pistol scope on a scout mount or figure out a way to get like a ghost ring sight going. Chop the fore end down, and rework the butt and grip. Maybe thread the muzzle and throw a flash suppressor on it or a good .308 comp. Just absolutely bubba the hell out of it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  18. I'm going to start a new build soon(ish). I'm stuck between an SBR in .300 black or an SPR. SPR would probably be 5.56, but I really want to do an 18 inch 6.5 grendel or 6.8 SPC II if budget allows. Both would be range toys. I already have a 16 inch AR in 5.56 set up for SD/HD. If you were going to build, what would it be? What would your dream SBR be? Same for your SPR? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  19. Update! Got my 9C! And my CCL in the mail the same day! Less than 2 weeks from the time I applied to the time I got it. Feels great with the pinky extension. Palm swell is a little proud, but it comes with an extra backstrap for a flatter grip. Ended up trying a generic IWB holster and it's terrible. It adds like an inch to the gun. Prints like a mofo. Ended up ordering a Nomad from t.rex arms and a cloak tuck 3.5 from alien gear. The Nomad will be here Monday, the cloak tuck should be here in a week or two. Definitely going to try both out and do a small review on both. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  20. I ended up getting a FNS 9C yesterday. I can pick it up Thursday. Finally decided on what I was doing after hours of YouTube and testing my full size guns at home. While i probably could have concealed my XD, it was just to thick for me to be comfortable with. The 9 C is small enough and slim enough, I won't have to many concerns about printing. And it comes with 2 extra mags. On sale for 449, I traded in a gun and ended up paying 85 after tax. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  21. I think I found a solid replacement for the 1911 or xd carry option. Fingered a VP9, and a couple FN's today and fell in love with the vp9. So I'm going to look for a vp9sk. If I can't get the 9sk, the FNS9 or FNS9C is on my radar. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  22. Would crossbreed holsters give me the same issue? Or are they a little better in quality and size? For reference, I'm a big guy. 5'10, 285 (trying to work on it). When I carry around the house it's usually a G-code for the xd, or a 1776 leather holster for the 1911. The weight doesn't bother me. But the bulk of the holster does. Edit to add: I love the G-code for its retention, and thumb release hood. I don't like how far it comes off my waist. I like the 1776 for its weight, and snug it fits to my body, but I don't like how far it brings the beaver tail up and into my side when I sit down. That's what fascinates me with the adjustable IWB hook depth. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  23. Just applied for my CCL (Florida is pretty cool guys, trust me) a couple days ago. I'm looking at the alien gear shape shifter 4.0, but they don't have a clear answer on if it can take a full size range officer. Has anyone tried it? Does anyone have any time with a shape shifter 4.0? Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Also, I'm not married to the idea of carrying my 1911, I also thought about my xd-9. I'm still 50/50 on both. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
  24. So I'm going to be coming back to Jersey for a few days in Feb. When I leave, I'm bringing four rifles back to Florida. I know I need to check them like luggage, bolt out, no ammo in the gun. But is there a limit of firearms I can check? They'll be in two double gun cases, locked down. Would the TSA give me crap about bringing that many? I'll be flying into and out of Philly if that helps. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk

    Irma?

I'm right in the track to get bent over by Sunday night. Sustained winds of 60 to 70 mph, gusts up to 150, peaking around 160. I've got enough food to last a bit. 2.5 cases of MRE's, 3 cases water, water filter, alcohol stove. Stuff like that. Most people around me were getting supplies today and yesterday. Publix was cleaned out of most canned goods, and water. Hardly any gas in the area. Luckily I'm going into work around 12:30 (Saturday Sept 9.) And I'll be in a solid hospital. I'm just worried about my family. Sure they'll be in a shelter, but that only does so much good. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
