Bought two guns today, NICS checks up to 17-21 day wait.
njgunrunner replied to Sludog's topic in NICS Issues
jack- i almost ran into the same problem. i had my last renewed permit about to expire. i had to call the njsp nics unit and they rushed it. sounds like nics checks are really getting backed up. -
welcome and congrats on getting the permits.

w german p226 is supposed to have tighter tolerances than the newer nh p226. All i can tell you is that after renting both a w german 229 and 226, i found them to be extremely accurate. And i do mean accurate. bullseye after bullseye. i prefer the 3 dot aiming system(2 in rear, 1 in front). some older w german models use the 2 dot aiming system ( 1 in front,1 in rear). but, both will work.

Question for the FFL's about nics & ogam
njgunrunner replied to Clintoon Eastwood's topic in NICS Issues
kev- tj462 is correct when he says that if your ffl submits the nics request before the ogam 30 day time period, there is a chance it will be denied. i used an ffl who submitted his request for the nics check before my 30 days ogam time period had passed. by the time trenton ran the nics check, i was just beyond the 30 day requirement. I understand this is sort of chancy, but i guess some ffl's are doing it. I think most NJ ffl's would probably wait til the 30 days are up to avoid violating the ogam law, and getting a nics denial. -
NJ FID/PP Compliancy Project
njgunrunner replied to Maksim's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
it is ashame that permit requests are different, in terms of paperwork and timeframe. town by town. So far, on this forum, there are 19 pages of posts, detailing each towns unique requirements. It appears that there is some, or a lot, of variation in requirements by each town and most applicants are facing a lengthly turn around time. It also appears that most permits are being issued way beyond the 30 day max. Amazing that we try to obey the law, but the issuance procedures as promulgated by the NJSP are not being closely followed by all towns. Make sure you use good friends as references! -
Lost FID card, am I screwed?
njgunrunner replied to NJSlick's topic in Current New Jersey Gun Laws Discussion
you may want to give the area another look. i thought i lost mine once and finally found it. it will take a long time to replace. -
guys- Im really unhappy about the proposal to add a visible code to the DL. It sounds like we will be getting a code placed next to the glasses code (restr=1). In my opinion, a FID code on your DL tells the reader that the holder is basically a "rambo who owns an uzi." After all, due to public hysteria, there is a misperception that anyone who owns a gun is a wild and dangerous nut. How about those gun owners who are between jobs or who are looking for a job? Those of you who are retired are beyond this, but some gun owners are just entering the work force, or trying to re-enter it. As I read it, this proposed law will prevent any gun owner from applying for a teacher, lifeguard, school guidance counselor, walmart, target, kmart, sears, mcdonalds, wendys, walgreens, riteaid, boscovs, crackerbarrel, etc., or any job where the employer doesn't want to hear (or see) a gun endorsement on a new hire's DL. Another option: would the NJ dmv allow existing drivers (with FID cards) to apply for "a non-driver photo identification" (with the FID endorsement). "The non-driver ID is issued solely for the purpose of providing identification and is not a license to drive." This would avoid the problem of being barred from non-gun friendly employment.

please add 3676 as a topic. home inspection required: (A3676),
-
Just read this: "A3676 also requires a privacy invading in-home inspection as a condition for issuance of an FID card" Read more at Ammoland.com: http://www.ammoland..../#ixzz2QJkelcYR New Jersey law provides that an FID card is void if the holder becomes subject to a “disability.” Accordingly, if these bills take effect, ALL persons already holding an FID card who have not had the home inspection, psychological evaluation, or provided the list of household members (and thereby overcome the “disabilities” imposed by the legislation) MUST TURN IN their Firearms ID card to the Police. The turn in must be done within 5 days by law or face prosecution for 4th Degree Crime (Felony -18 months prison time.) Read more at Ammoland.com: http://www.ammoland..../#ixzz2QJli2zIK this is of concern: "New Jersey law states that it is unlawful to purchase or possess a firearm without having first obtained a New Jersey Firearms Identification card." so, does this bill really mean everyone will need a home inspection (A3676), or they must surrender the FID card and w/o the FID card they must surrender all firearms?

Well, i found cheyenne to be a bit overpriced on buys and underpriced on sells. For south jersey people, there is cheyenne in robbinsville, bobs little gun shop in deptford, one in merchantville, one in pennsauken, and Paul over in waterford. I may use paul for my next transfer. I think the current climate is clallenging for buyers and dealers. the whole thing is an expensive wrestling match using a stop watch. You are overpaying for merchandise with permits that are expiring. take a look on gunbroker as they are an alternative when you can't locate anything.

wooley- i think the fid renewal is really terrible news. Do you realize that depending on the town, if the FID renewal notice is lost in the mail, you will be at risk of being arrested (lawyer cost or police record) and having your guns seized. renewal paperwork will be a nightmare with each town having different requirements. A few towns now require notarized forms from references for permits. these proposed laws are too invasive and are further trampling our 2nd amendment rights.
