  1. alex35- the choice of available ffl's in southern NJ is shrinking!
  2. glad to hear you finally received them. I'm waiting for mine too.
  3. Stopped by Lawman's supply in Pennsauken,NJ and was told they are no longer doing ffl transfers and are no longer selling to the public. Ashame...
  4. update: as of now, lawmans supply in pennsauken,nj has stopped doing ffl transfers and has stopped selling to the public.
  5. welcome to the forum. ive been down to your area. there is a diner located there. enjoy the sig. you made an excellent choice.
  6. jack- i almost ran into the same problem. i had my last renewed permit about to expire. i had to call the njsp nics unit and they rushed it. sounds like nics checks are really getting backed up.
  7. welcome and congrats on getting the permits.
  8. mikeyboy- this forum is here for users to post questions and exchange info, not to insult each other. I would appreciate if you would stay on topic. some of us are trying to understand what laws will be passed and how they will affect us.
  9. w german p226 is supposed to have tighter tolerances than the newer nh p226. All i can tell you is that after renting both a w german 229 and 226, i found them to be extremely accurate. And i do mean accurate. bullseye after bullseye. i prefer the 3 dot aiming system(2 in rear, 1 in front). some older w german models use the 2 dot aiming system ( 1 in front,1 in rear). but, both will work.
  10. pk90- i appreciate reading your answers to ogam questions. it can get confusing...
  11. kev- tj462 is correct when he says that if your ffl submits the nics request before the ogam 30 day time period, there is a chance it will be denied. i used an ffl who submitted his request for the nics check before my 30 days ogam time period had passed. by the time trenton ran the nics check, i was just beyond the 30 day requirement. I understand this is sort of chancy, but i guess some ffl's are doing it. I think most NJ ffl's would probably wait til the 30 days are up to avoid violating the ogam law, and getting a nics denial.
  12. it is ashame that permit requests are different, in terms of paperwork and timeframe. town by town. So far, on this forum, there are 19 pages of posts, detailing each towns unique requirements. It appears that there is some, or a lot, of variation in requirements by each town and most applicants are facing a lengthly turn around time. It also appears that most permits are being issued way beyond the 30 day max. Amazing that we try to obey the law, but the issuance procedures as promulgated by the NJSP are not being closely followed by all towns. Make sure you use good friends as references!
  13. mcbeth- as you know, the notary requirement is a major inconvenience for your references.
  14. you are correct. I didn't know this. I called nj DMV and they verified that you cannot have a non-driver photo id issued if you already have a photo dl.
  15. a visible firearms endorsement on DL IDs would be an invasion of our privacy and would cause an employment problem as typically one needs to show a dl to human resources for a new job. it would be better if we had the option of getting a non-DL card which could have the fid endorsement.
  16. you may want to give the area another look. i thought i lost mine once and finally found it. it will take a long time to replace.
  17. question: do NJ DL holders have the option of having the fid endorsement placed on a "non-driver photo id". if this would be possible, it would avoid being barred from many jobs due to them seeing that you are a gun owner.
  18. guys- Im really unhappy about the proposal to add a visible code to the DL. It sounds like we will be getting a code placed next to the glasses code (restr=1). In my opinion, a FID code on your DL tells the reader that the holder is basically a "rambo who owns an uzi." After all, due to public hysteria, there is a misperception that anyone who owns a gun is a wild and dangerous nut. How about those gun owners who are between jobs or who are looking for a job? Those of you who are retired are beyond this, but some gun owners are just entering the work force, or trying to re-enter it. As I read it, this proposed law will prevent any gun owner from applying for a teacher, lifeguard, school guidance counselor, walmart, target, kmart, sears, mcdonalds, wendys, walgreens, riteaid, boscovs, crackerbarrel, etc., or any job where the employer doesn't want to hear (or see) a gun endorsement on a new hire's DL. Another option: would the NJ dmv allow existing drivers (with FID cards) to apply for "a non-driver photo identification" (with the FID endorsement). "The non-driver ID is issued solely for the purpose of providing identification and is not a license to drive." This would avoid the problem of being barred from non-gun friendly employment.
  19. please add 3676 as a topic. home inspection required: (A3676),
  20. megla- I like your suggestion of requesting at least 3 (or 4) permits. I almost ran out of time on a renewed permit. It makes buying anything a real challenge. You have limited product availability, and dated permits.
  21. Just read this: "A3676 also requires a privacy invading in-home inspection as a condition for issuance of an FID card" Read more at Ammoland.com: http://www.ammoland..../#ixzz2QJkelcYR New Jersey law provides that an FID card is void if the holder becomes subject to a “disability.” Accordingly, if these bills take effect, ALL persons already holding an FID card who have not had the home inspection, psychological evaluation, or provided the list of household members (and thereby overcome the “disabilities” imposed by the legislation) MUST TURN IN their Firearms ID card to the Police. The turn in must be done within 5 days by law or face prosecution for 4th Degree Crime (Felony -18 months prison time.) Read more at Ammoland.com: http://www.ammoland..../#ixzz2QJli2zIK this is of concern: "New Jersey law states that it is unlawful to purchase or possess a firearm without having first obtained a New Jersey Firearms Identification card." so, does this bill really mean everyone will need a home inspection (A3676), or they must surrender the FID card and w/o the FID card they must surrender all firearms?
  22. Well, i found cheyenne to be a bit overpriced on buys and underpriced on sells. For south jersey people, there is cheyenne in robbinsville, bobs little gun shop in deptford, one in merchantville, one in pennsauken, and Paul over in waterford. I may use paul for my next transfer. I think the current climate is clallenging for buyers and dealers. the whole thing is an expensive wrestling match using a stop watch. You are overpaying for merchandise with permits that are expiring. take a look on gunbroker as they are an alternative when you can't locate anything.
  23. Your local Pd will now have to re-investigate you on each renewal prior to renewing the fid card. For some towns, that will result in a delay of 2-3 months on fid card renewals. plus, look out if the pd renewal letter gets lost in the mail. you get arrested and your guns are seized.
  24. wooley- i think the fid renewal is really terrible news. Do you realize that depending on the town, if the FID renewal notice is lost in the mail, you will be at risk of being arrested (lawyer cost or police record) and having your guns seized. renewal paperwork will be a nightmare with each town having different requirements. A few towns now require notarized forms from references for permits. these proposed laws are too invasive and are further trampling our 2nd amendment rights.
  25. ashame this meeting didn't get better PR. We need a calendar of events. i could have made the rider event if it was publicized a bit. I see several posts for NJ rallys in the political action section, but these events need more PR.
