  1. cowboy-hi. I had no choice as I ran out of days on my permit. I called 609-882-2000 extension two eight seven nine. I was told that they usually prefer if your ffl calls, but you can call too.
  2. hi- managed to pull off a nail biter: I had 1 permit left, expiring on 3/29. the permit was already renewed once. My ffl initiated the nics with 5 days remaining (OGAM), but the odds were against me as I was only giving nics 5 work days or 6 days to process. I realized that I had a major problem as 3/29 was good friday and nics offices would be closed. So, I called the NJSP nics office in trenton and a nice lady told me she would make a note of my permit expiration. they called my ffl back with an approval on my last eligible day, thursday the 28th. so, now I know that if i do any more, i can't wait til the last minute...

    NJ NICS

hi guys- managed to pull off a nail biter: I had 1 permit left, expiring on 3/29. the permit was already renewed once. My ffl initiated the nics on 3/23 but the odds were against me as I was only giving nics 5 work days or 6 days to process. I realized that I had a major problem as 3/29 is good friday and nics offices are closed. So, I called the nics office and they agreed to rush it. they called in with an approval on my last eligible day, thursday the 28th. so, if i do any more, i can't wait til the last minute.
  4. only things ava are from gunbroker or gunsamerica.
  5. Posted: 12/20/2012 11:01:25 AM [Last Edit: Yesterday 3:46:26 PM by Brownells] Hey Guys, I wanted to take a minute to shed some insight on the magazine situation if i can. First of all I wanted to offer an apology for the situation that Pacs and anyone else encountered with magazines being "In-Stock" and Backordered moments later. Cedjunior had it correct, the demand for magazines actually exceeded the ability for the system to keep up with the volume that was being ordered. They way that our website works is that inventory is fed from our ERP system directly into the website in "real-time". Unfortunately, "real-time" is the amount of time that it takes for the transactions to work both ways. During normal circumstances, it is nearly instant. However, we've been receiving orders at such a pace that these transactions have gotten slower. We absolutely apologize again, we definitely don't want that ever to be your experience. To shed some more light on the magazine situation at present, it really has been unprecedented in the last 5 days. (Edit - Sorry guys, meant 72 hour period) we sold the "average demand" equivalent of about 3 1/2 years worth of PMAGS, and and an even greater amount of our Brownells magazines. We're working like crazy to get these orders to you as quickly as possible. We're working directly with Magpul daily to forecast out the next couple of months deliveries. Magpul is focusing their efforts on the BLACK magazines, so we're limiting backorders to only Black for now. On the Brownells 30 and 20 round magazines, we're still flowing those into the system daily, and are producing those at 100% capacity as well. We ordered more material yesterday that will allow us to up production again in the coming weeks. Our apologies for the delays! We'll keep working as hard as possible to get these going and will keep you updated always. Let us know if we can do anything at all. - Pete Brownell Brownells Selection. Service. 6. congrats on the 226. im looking to get a refurbished or used w german version in 9mm. i hear they have slightly better specs. problem is that very little is ava in local stores...
  7. i may have to run and buy something. can't believe it is this tough for legitimate purchases!
  8. cheyenne in robbinsville (past bordentown). cheyenne has High prices. they are a rip-off for trade-ins too. saying all that, they do have a high-priced but decent selection. If any of you are in NJ, take 73 to philly, and turn right on frankford ave. I found a lot of (mostly revolvers) at locke's in phila. he has some pistols, but mostly the common stuff. 215-332-6225. butches in vineland has some stuff like sigs and other plastic. pistols too. he is very honest with trade-in value too.856-692-1010. rayco in merchantville does ffl's. he is a small shop. nice guy. 856-663-1300. There just aren't very many shops to choose from in south jersey. ive had to call around for items and then order things as my darn permits always (almost) expire on me. good thing i have enough now. id say its a case of limited supply. crazy that i have to have an sr9 shipped to nj (minus the clip).
  9. for that poster from cherry hill, "The Firing Line in Philly" older place, primitive lane mechanisms, but very cheap. they can't afford business cards. 215-336-1710, 1532 front st, between tasker and dickinson, industrial complex. cheaper than phila archery and gun club (ellsworth st, south philly, 215-551-4544)
  10. 1. Application type : 3 P2Ps 2. Police Department where you applied: cherry hill 3. Name of the person you dealt with at the PD: det vitarelli 4. Time taken to issue FID and/or permit: approx 30 DAYS FROM DROPPING OFF APPLICATION; 5. Documents required by the PD: this township sends a custom written cherry hill township police firearm form to your 2 listed references. under the previous poice chief it had to be signed; new chief has decided it must be notarized. they also send a form to your closest living relative and your employer. both of these must be signed and notarized too. 6. Notes - the notarized form caused me a lot of problems with my references, like one who could not get to a notary. also- what do you do if your type of employment (i.e. teacher or museum or nurse) would indirectly label you as a rambo for wanting a firearm? det vitarelli was good with returning calls.
  11. Im a southern nj resident and i travel to south philly to shoot. phila archery & gun club, right past the italian/korean market. located at 831 ellsworth st. free parking lot 1 block from them.
  12. maksim- i see you are located in east windsor. are some towns more difficult in regard to asking for 1 vesus 3 (or more) permits? thanks.
  13. maksim, axeman and hd2000fxdl - i appreciate your replies to my post. im not actually laughing, poor choice of words. i'm just trying to get a handle on how many permits i can request. i think this is an important topic and i'm glad to have this exchange of information. sounds like i can ask for 3-4 if i'd like.
  14. axeman- You are asking about the turn around time for 6 permits? I don't think I can count that high. One of my Ch friends doesn't go above 1-2 each time. He told me to keep it at 3 or less. let me ask you: do you think there is an issue with your asking for 6 permits? I'm not trying to be negative, but do you think the quantity of 6 might result in an issuance delay? I haven't read about very many requests for 6 permits, especially since they revamped the reference letters. Unless one is in law enforcement or the military, does a larger number of permits bring into question ones competency or "reasonable use"? Translation: Even though there is no set limit on # of permits which can be requested, in reality isn't there a maximum based on the town's interpretation of "reasonable usage"? Maybe we should all be asking for 4-6 permits each time!
  15. that is so funny. of course, while waterford township may let you get 6 each time, other townships may not be as cheerful about a request for 6 permits. I know...we can request as many as we'd like. bullcrap. i think the real definition is "as many as a reasonable person would request." in my town, i think even asking for 4 is pushing it.
  16. mack- i suggest you give them another call. just ask them for a status report. This will remind them that you are still waiting...
  17. cherry hill update... received permits. total time: 10 weeks. clean record. 2-3 week delay due to new notarized reference requirement. suggest that those of you who are waiting check in every so often to ensure your paperwork has been received.
  18. Some news for those who are cherry hill residents. I was told that CHPD are backed up with permit applications dating back to nov-dec 2010. It sounds like very few permits will be issued until Det Vitarelli comes back in april from sick leave. The current person to call is Det. Buehler. Apparently their dept is backed up with criminal work. I understand that it is a good idea to call them every once in a while to remind them that you are patiently waiting for your permits. This is my 3rd month.
  19. Regarding opening a gun store in Cherry Hill: In my opinion, Bobs (glassboro,NJ) is not really a lot of competition, unless you are planning on opening a store near him in glassboro. I have a friend who uses them w/o any issues. I wouldn't go there due to a negative experience. I felt that NJ permits were so valuable that I refused to let them give me a hard time. they do have a firing range. You have Cheyenne mountain outfitters up in bordentown (robbinsville). Take 295 North to Bordentown exit, Merge onto US-130 N via EXIT 57 toward US-206 N/BORDENTOWN,procede to 691 Rt 130, Robbinsville,NJ. They bought out Harrys. They were nice when they were Harrys, but now they have new owners. Service depends on whom you get. Sometimes nice, sometimes not. They seem to get foot traffic. small/medium size selection. Butches is nice but they are quite a distance down Rt41. He is in Vineland at 1025 W landis Ave. Merge onto I-295 S.,Merge onto RT-42 S via the exit on the LEFT toward ATLANTIC CITY,Merge onto RT-55 S via EXIT 13 toward GLASSBORO/VINELAND,Merge onto RT-56 E/CR-622/LANDIS AVE via EXIT 32A toward VINELAND. store on right in converted small bank. small selection. Very friendly. I've visited Lock's in Phila. If you take the tacony into PA, you turn right at Frankfurt Ave, go down 3-5 blocks, they are on the left far corner at 6700 Rowland ave. They appear to have a very large gun selection. Many more guns than Butches and Cheyenne put together. Everywhere you look you will see guns. 3 large display racks. I haven't had that much experience with them, but they seem to be ok in regard to customer service. There is a newly opened small gunshop in merchantville that I have to go and see. It is off of cuthbert blvd & church rd. Rayco Armory, 177 South Center Street. There is probably a cost/benefit analysis regarding opening a new gun store. I'd look into the cost of location versus car traffic and parking. How about down in collingswood or on rt 130? Rents/leases could be less due to low occupancy rates. Keep the overhead costs as low as possible.
  20. jack, It appears that cherry hill is trying to discourage firearm permits. As you know, the process is not an easy one. If you have any items on your record, like a domestic or minor misdimeanor offense, you can be denied. I understand that if you have a domestic complaint (psycho girlfriend or upset wife), you can be denied a permit, or face an uphill battle for one. Then there is the challenge of getting 2 friends who will not think you are a rambo for even wanting a handgun. Now that Cherry Hill is demanding 2 notarized reference letters, how many friends can you willingly subject to this degree of inconvenience? Only those of us who are suffering under such harsh paperwork requirements can understand the plight of fellow NJ gun applicants. In my case, Cherry hill's new notarized requirement is a hardship for my references. I may need to befriend someone on this forum for my next permit! mike
  21. Comment: It would appear that within NJ, towns have the legal authority to enact changes in departmental regulations regarding the procedures for applying for a firearms permit. Or, they are enacting procedures that haven't yet been challenged for their legality. If you google NJ and other key terms (notarized), it appears that within NJ, there are different rules and regulations in each town. How realistic would it be to challenge the new rule on notarized reference letters?
  22. axeman, i have also run into the same thing. do a search for "cherry hill" and you will see my post. Who is responsible for the guantanamo treatment? the new chief or the new detective handling things? Do you realize how much an imposition this is on references? I should ask for 5-6 permits!!
  23. Hello, I usually lurk on these pages, but I just ran into a crazy paperwork issue. I'm also in the Cherry Hill township. Is it my imagination, or are the rules changed everytime a new person is assigned to process firearm applications! They were previously handled by Agent DiChurchio. He was let go in a staff reduction. Q: Who do you think is behind the new rule requiring that the 2 references have to have the reference letters notarized? The new police chief, or by the detective assigned to handle the paperwork? This is a major inconvenience to place on your references. Also, do any of you fellow cherry hill people know how they feel if you request 2 vs. 3 permits? I would be curious to hear if any of you have a sizable collection. thanks!
