  1. Thats good news. It nice to hear that some people still stand behind their stuff. And now we all know that DRT makes 10ring ammo! Ken
  2. I get completely nuts with my 308 brass. Ever heard the saying "theres more than one way to skin a cat"? Just change it to "theres more than one way to load a 308". You will find tons of information that contradict other tons of information. Wait til you get to the part about annealing.... Whats most important is that you use safe reloading practices. Ive found twice the accuracy improvement in bullet choice and precise charge measuring than I have in brass prep. Ken
  3. There is something unsettling about using a grinder to open a can of ammo! Ken
  4. I got mine from GTS on Rt 33. They are just before 33 hits 34. https://www.google.com/maps/place/GTS-Welco,+a+Praxair+Joint+Venture/@40.226,-74.159,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xeb7f6560cefe114d Ken
  5. you need the opener. If that is not available, cut the rim off with a pair of sheet metal sheers! Ken
  6. Im not sure about 302w but I have stripped the plating once or twice. You need to bell the case a little more than you would for FMJ . There is a really, really fine line between too much flare and just rite. Ken
  7. read that tag inside it. It looks like the new style 50lb box to me. The tag should have weight rating info on it. Ken
  8. Now that Bob has to do NICS on the computer the phone is not off the hook as much. You have a much better chance of getting Gene on the phone now! I think he got that phone because rotary phone service was disscontinued Ken
  9. I was at Solomons last wednesday. He got in a decent amount of W231 but not much else. Definitely try to call hm first. Ken
  10. Sorry to jack you thread but is there any chance you got a manual with that rifle? I have a 760 basket case that someone gave me. I am not sure that I have all the parts and I am not having the best of luck getting a good exploded view of it. Back to the topic at hand.. It looks like you have already found the cheapest 30-06 around. I have not seen it anywhere for less. Shoot and enjoy Ken
  11. Starline is my brass of choice for 40 SW 45 Colt and 460 SW Mag. I have never had a problem with their brass. I can say with absolute certainty that nobody makes better longer lasting 460 brass! Ken
  12. I have the RCBS chargemaster, Giraud case trimmer and annealer, and a rock chucker. I have spent a lot of money on reloading equipment and I still use the rock chucker exclusively. I shoot far more rifle rounds (including the 338 lapua) and the rock chucker has proven itslef to excell here. If you shoot more pistol you will most likely want to get a progressive press at some point but the rock chucker will always have a purpose. In my opinion, get it! Ken
  13. Im going to have to make the next one. My busy season is over now. Its good to see that a lot of the people I know are still dong this. I haven't seen you guys in about a year. Time to catch up and shoot some clays. I also have about a year backlog to read here too. Ken
  14. I have some going on 12 times. I get a little crazy with them though. I anneal the case necks every 3rd firing, dont load em too hot, and use a case gauge (I prefer dillon's) to set your dies properly. I think the dillon go/no go gauge saved the brass the most. You would be surprised how much some dies push the neck down. Oversizing kills brass quickly. Ken
  15. All of this is sound advice. The only thing I would add is to try some FMJ bullets of the same diameter and see if the problem persists. It could be as simple as your rifling does not like those bullets. I have an AR that wont shoot a vmax bullet strait at all. I think its because the rifling is too sharp for the vmax thin jacket. It could be that simple with your load as well. Ken
  16. Thats been my experience as well. Plenty of "allegedly" non corosive ammo out there that could put rust on stainless steel. Ken
  17. Did you measure the brass? Trim to length is 1.75" and Maximum length is 1.76". Dont let the trimmer decide if it need trimming, measure it. Ken
  18. Blake is absolutely correct, on both points. There are many members here that shoot there regularly and will guest you in. I shoot there almost every Friday night and every second or third Sunday. This Sunday is not one of them though. Ken
  19. on a nice weekend like this make sure you are there at least 20 minutes before they open. That place gets crazy when its nice out. Enjoy Ken
  20. one could only hope they loose their FFL. They deserve it Ken
  21. Im gonna try to make it. I have to wait til its gets closer...my really freakin busy season is starting up. Ken
  22. Count me in. I have yet to make it to a starbucks meeting. I think its time! Ken
  23. The best way I can think of is to swap it out with a supra. That will be more fun! Ken
  24. Thats a pretty sound start. That is also the equipment I have been using happily for years. If you need to know anything you can add my name to the list of people that will help. Ken
