I'm planning on getting a G17 MOS and buying a red dot for it. I really like the look of the RMRs and I'm sure they are the best quality around but is getting a bit pricey for my budget. I have a 512 and doesn't have any trouble at all. The problem with the temperature fluctuation were at very extreme conditions, extreme enough that you won't be outside shooting anyway. It's really a non issue for me but that doesn't fly with military specs. If you are seeing that big of fluctuations with yours it could be the mount, they tend to come loose with vibration.
