  1. My Gen4, G17 was a jam-o-matic. I lost trust in it and sold it after the springs were changed out. Having said that, I would still carry another Glock in the future.
  2. I checked with local PD first then called my attorney. The LEO was 100% correct in this matter and quite helpful, I might add. I live in a very small beach town. When I called him to ask about bringing my legally purchased guns from FL without having obtained the NJ FID card, he told me the FID card was not necessary as long as my weapons were secured in accordance with NJ law and I was going directly to my residence. I thanked him and told him I would stop by the police station to begin the application process for my FID card, he actually came to my house to drop off the forms! To answer a previous response to my sarcastic comment, I was NOT given bad advice on this forum! To be quite honest, other forums I belong to have significantly more members than this one and many of those members often give their best guess to answer questions. My sarcastic comment would have been more useful on those forums. It's just that I would never want to make a mistake that could cause me to lose my 2A rights.
  3. Perhaps I was a bit too sarcastic. I'm sorry. My post was rather rude and uncalled for especially since I am in the exact situation. I own homes in FL and NJ. Before I brought my weapon here for the summer, I checked with local PD and my attorney (after reviewing internet forums). Some of the internet advice I received was DEAD WRONG.
  4. You should absolutely follow all the random anonymous advice you get on the internet instead of actually contacting a lawyer in your area who is well versed in 2nd amendment law. Just follow the random internet legal advice (that's worth exactly what you paid for it) you'll be fine…
  5. I knew I should have paid more attention in Civics class! Thank you for your well thought out response. I NEED to get involved and help you guys fight for our rights!!!
  6. Look into an HSA type plan if you're healthy and don't go to the doctor regularly. The deductibles are VERY high but they are offset by LOW premium payments. You get a tax savings as well. Not for everyone but it saves me about $8,000 in premium per year. IMO, health insurance, like homeowners or auto insurance should be for catastrophic instances, not for minor illnesses.
  7. I was a life long resident of this "great" state for my first 47 years on this planet. I've always had an interest in firearms but never owned one and never paid attention to our gun laws. Then my wife and I bought a place in Florida last winter and we established residency. I made some friends who like to go to the range and shoot. So I joined them and was instantly hooked. I took a class, applied for my Concealed Weapon and Firearm License and bought a Glock 17. 90 days later I received my CWFL. It was completely legal for me to carry my weapon concealed on my person whenever I went out. The Glock was way too big to comfortably carry so I purchased a Ruger LCP and a nice OWB holster. I felt good. I knew I was in control of my own safety and could defend myself if needed. Now I'm back in NJ and I can't believe the laws here! Can anyone offer an explanation as to how NJ law supersedes The United State Constitution??? This has probably been discussed on this board hundreds of times but I needed to vent. I read the Muller v. Maenza complaint and it seems to have merit. I actually can't wait for it to lose in the courts so it can go on appeal to the Supreme Court where I think it'll have a chance. The thing that really burns me up is the term "justifiable need". Maybe I don't presently have a justifiable need to carry a gun at this very moment, but what if I'm attacked in the parking lot of the mall or my wife is grabbed outside the supermarket? I believe those qualify as justifiable needs. I'm a law abiding, good guy and I want my 2nd and 14th Amendment rights restored. I know you all agree and thanks for reading. I'll do my part to assist each and every one of you in getting these rights returned!
  8. OK, I submitted the forms to Monmouth Beach PD on Monday, May 23, 2011. Prints are scheduled for Friday, June 3, 2011. I'll update and answer the survey once I receive my FID.
  9. I LOVE my LCP. I have carried it everyday for last few months in an Uncle George's Pocket Holster or OWB Hays Holster (haysholsters.com). Conceals great with a tee shirt or un-tucked button down. You won't be sorry.
  10. Thank you! Yes, I have proof that I own a home here. Although I have a FL driver's license and FL plates, I guess I'll keep a copy of my NJ real estate tax bill in my car just in case.
  11. Greetings to all. I live in NJ and FL (where I have my Concealed Weapon Firearm License). I'm in NJ for the summer but didn't bring my Glock 17 or Ruger LCP until I know for sure I can transport them LEGALLY into NJ. It amazes me that the NJ laws are so drastically different than FL! Anyway, I'm waiting for a call from the weapons officer at my local police department for some clarification. If anyone here knows the LAW, please post. Thanks. Best regards, Steve
