3-Gun @ Old BridgeDecember 28th

Can you use a pistol caliber carbine rifle? -
Vlad - I just emailed you a stage that you can just print out as it's in the USPSA format. Just fit it to the dimensions of the pit. -Mike
-
Vlad, Do you have rough dimensions of the pits? I'll try to mock something up tonight if you still need stages. -Mike

Seems like the right thing to do as it's the most realistic (especially seeing the video) or just leave it as is. Zeroing out the stage seems a bit harsh when he didn't enter the score. After doing some math, his division and class standings wouldn't change. Going from 11.46 sec to 21.46 secs would change his HF from 8.8133 to 4.7064. Divide that by the 1st place HF (Mike W.) of 6.4347 = 73.14%, which would mean 80.455 stage points out of 110. This is a loss of about 30 stage points. In Limited, he had 706 pts and 2nd place was 640. In Unclassified class, he had 656 pts and 2nd place was 597. So, it really wouldn't change anything for him...maybe a spot in the overall standings. Personally, I'd gain about 29 stage points by doing so with my 6.3985 HF, but doens't matter to me as it wouldn't affect my standings even if it were left alone.

Any good places to fish in/near Bergen county?
msg73 replied to msg73's topic in Hunting, Fishing & More
Is this from the river/stream, bottom lake or top lake? I've been there with the kids hiking but never seen anyone catch anything. -
Anyone have powder for an open gun? Can trade 22lr or pay cash.

Anyone going to Ontelaunee tomorrow?
msg73 replied to msg73's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
Yes, they did/do a lot of IDPA and some run & gun. Tomorrow is USPSA with 4 classifier and 6 field stages. Regular matches usually have only one classifier and special classifier matches usually have very little (if any) field stages. This is the best of both. Enough field stages to have some fun and enough classifier stages to get your initial classification. Round count is ~214. -
Wondering if any of you are going to the Ontelaunee match tomorrow (4 classifier and 6 field stages). Should be fun. - Mike G (I'm in squad 5)

Attending first USPSA at OBRPC ... any tips?
msg73 replied to locochinoloco's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
Vlad - I registered but won't be able to make it as I'm going to the Ontelaunee classifier match. You can give Louu my spot. Would suck to drive all that way and not shoot. -Michael Gee (A78561) -

I noticed that he had more than 10 in a mag too. He was new and they didn't make a big deal out of it. We're all there to have fun and be safe. It's Pro-Am style without the Pro and par times are fairly generous. I've been meaning to try knockdown at OB...looks like a lot of fun with tons of plates. Also, Chris and Ramon runs the USPSA practice night. Dennis runs the Pro-Am. Not bad for indoor. -

Hey Chris. Good seeing you yesterday. Glad you and your friend had a good time. -Mike -
Given that it's superbowl Sunday, any shooting events/matches going on this weekend?
-
Thanks everyone.

Thanks for the replies Yes, I'll make sure to have sights on it. I'll try out some foster slugs to see how they group with different brands. Is the IC choke generally the best for slugs?
-
I have a smoothed bore Benelli M2 (26") shotgun. Would that be ok to hunt deer with using Foster slugs? Or should I get a inexpensive rifled barrel shotgun?
-
No major loads on steel for safety reasons. You can use major loads for USPSA/IDPA and post cutting. Also, we tried team post cutting using 4x4 and 2x4, but decided to do individual post cutting using 1x2 (used in target stands)...now you can't blame your partner if you don't cut it

talk about non-gasoline generators.. Propane, nat gas..
msg73 replied to Barms's topic in General Discussion
For those that want a decent generator setup that won't break the bank, you can try the following: Harbor Freight: Predator Generator (I got the 7k watt for $529 with coupon) USCarburation: Type C kit ($187), 3/4" Quick Disconnect couplers ($69), 6' length of 1/2" gas hose ($52) Home Depot: Black iron pipe and accessories (elbows, unions, shutoff valves, etc.) ($75) Everything was less than $1k and works great. I got plenty of power with 7k continuous/8750 peak watts. You would also need the generator cable and have a way to hook it up into your house (transfer switch or directly into the panel with an interlock) -
CJUSPSA 08-11-2013 special classifier.
msg73 replied to raz-0's topic in Competitive & Fun Shoot Discussion
I've known him since he was a new shooter not too long ago and he has improved a ton. He didn't try to go blazing fast on the stages and had a very clean match with very little (if any) penalties. That's definitley something I need to work on. -

It should be a fairly safe way to introduce a new shooter for all the reasons you mentioned. I'm assuming you're talking about your son. I wish I had a dad that enjoyed shooting like you when I was growing up.
