I took my girlfriend to the range this evening. She had never shot a gun before in her life and was very eager to give it a go. The range we chose was the Bayonne PBA range since it was the closest to both of us. When we got there it was pretty empty so that was a good chance to explain to her the operation of the gun, how to rack the slide, take the safety off, how to load the magazine with bullets and then the magazine into the firearm. She paid attention to everything and asked questions where she wanted to, it was a good experience. We also discussed range safety and what to do if a malfunction or jam happened (guns worked flawlessly tonight so we didn't have any need to practice what we talked about). Now onto the juicy stuff. To get her started I would ask that she put only one bullet at a time in the magazine till she was used to the recoil. On the first pull of the trigger with the M&P 22 she giggled like a little school girl and said "that was cool". After she was confident in the operation and observing all safety rules she loaded the magazine to it's full capacity. Boy was I surprised how well she could handle that gun, we went over respiratory pause and her groupings got even better. I'm actually quite scared because with enough time and practice she may become a better shot than me. After about 200 rounds of .22LR she wanted to try the M&P 9mm. After showing her the operation of the gun (she complained the slide was harder to rack but liked the fact that the gun was heavier) I let her do her thing while observing her, asking her to make adjustments for safety reasons. It was quite cool helping her find her dominant eye, a proper weaver stance and a good grip (support hand wrapping around the strong hand) and watching her group get better and better with each magazine. Afterwards in the jeep on the ride home I asked her if she would come back again and she smiled and said she would go any time and loved it. In regards to which pistol she liked the most, she loves the M&P 9 and says one day she will get one of her own. It was a great night, she's a keeper and I'm glad that I brought a non shooter to the range and converted them into a shooter. (she asked me when she can shoot my AR-15, I can't wait to take her to the range again)

Any improvement in timeframe for obtaining new P2P?

I'm three days in. Wonder if it will take a while this time, Guttenberg usually was fast before the brouhaha that recently happened and was resolved. -
You must have some really wild neighbors who party hard.

Breaking in a leather holster.
fumanchu182 replied to fumanchu182's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
Haha, we are all wishfully thinking for this. I'm going to leave it in the holster till I come home tonight and then I"m going to see if it stretched it out a little bit. If not then I"m going to go get me a ziplock or wax paper and try that. -
Was expecting something else... Pleasantly found something else. Be safe,

Breaking in a leather holster.
fumanchu182 replied to fumanchu182's topic in Firearm Hobby / Sport Discussion
I'm going to leave in the holster for five days like yourself and see what happens. -
I have a Tagua leather holster and I would like to soften it up a little bit. Is just wearing it daily the best course of action to make the leather flexible? Would leaving the weapon in the holster on a daily basis also help stretch out the leather?

Democrat begins with D, D-bags begins with D... Coincidence? I believe it. -
I saw the movie and it was fun. A break from the usual films that have been happening as of late. I also can recommend Fury, movie is amaze balls.

Help me decide between the shield or a 357 revolver
fumanchu182 replied to 7-3-2's topic in Handguns
HBEC what holster did you end up getting, about to pick up the shield in 9mm and value your feedback on what you have picked up. -
I'm sure the wheels are spinning in the pro 2nd amendment camp, but I don't think 2015 will have any 2nd amendment cases brought before SCOTUS. In denying ceratori for the Drake case it makes you wonder why SCOTUS is silent now on the issue, I think they are waiting for the 2016 election year to fuck everything up.

My zombie squish-er also doubles as a meat grinder if they are still living and decided to harm my life. My concern is how many people they got before they were caught. It must be frightening as fuck.

Paulsboro reference form

That's the same excuse Guttenberg used. They copied verbatim Jersey City's form. Haven't gone back since. -
Pretty dogs, was anyone around when the bear came around other than the dogs? I would broke out whatever bear stopping gun was closest (would a 5.56 stop a bear or just piss it off?)
