  7. Let me get this straight. yer powder tray is gets an extra load and yer dumpin a load in the bathroom? They sorta balance each other out don't they? I mean if ya get a foul load on the range it stinks right? And if ya get a foul load in the bathroom that can really stink! I sure do hope you keep yer foul loads to a minimum! Wwwaaaayyy to much personal information goin on in dis thread.

  9. its only needed if you have no other means to measure your powder drop/load/volume
  10. This plus a beam scale ( Lee) to verify and as a back up
  11. I use the WFT for 223, It replaced the lee 3 Jaw chuck you put in your drill chuck. I like it and its fully adjustable to whichever length you choose. I use H335 spherical powder for both 223 and 7.62 I also use Hodgdon Benchmark,an Extreme Extruded propellant for 223 Rem. and it performs superbly with light match bullets in 308 Winchester. With small, easy metering granules. My steps for rifle prepping 1. decap with Lee universal decapper 2. Clean with Lock N load sonic cleaner 3. Inspect all cases under magnification lamp 4. lube with RCBS case slick spray 5. Resize with lee Full length sizer ( use collet neck sizer on "my" brass only) 6. trim with WFT trimmer 7. Clean with Cabela's case tumbler with corn cob media and brass cleaner 8. Prep cases with Lyman case prep xpress Cases are now ready to reload.
  12. Hey sig fan let me know how ya made out. I recently purchased a load master. I haven't set it up yet, time... I use Federal primers mostly since they seem to be available most of the time. I've used a Lee turret press without incident. I've read and researched enough about the Loadmaster and feel the problem may be on the lines of what mikeyjones said, but not limited to his statement as their could be other factors. That being said with all the Federals I have, It'll be full steam ahead with the blast shield on the loadmaster!!!
  13. From What Ive heard the Ruger will eat anything you feed it
  14. Davis Sporting Rte 17 North Sloatsburg NY - Powder, primers, bullets - Hornady supplier Master Class Shooters supply 2 Stair Way off of Rte 17M south in Monroe NY - Dillon Precision Retailer with a couple of presses mounted in front of store. Dillon and Lee dies mostly. Bullets both jacketed and lead. Primers and powder. With an indoor range.
  15. They work flawlessly in my Sig Mosquito, Winchester SuperX on the other hand turn it into a SA one shot!
  16. Socom thanx fer yer info, I haven't had any problems until I started loading these V max bullets. RAz Im trimming to 1.750 using a WFT The 2.238 is no problem for cycling rounds through my rifle. TBill thanx for the info, I figured I'd check here before I scrounged around, Theres just great info here on this board as proven by your response. NJKen I have The RCBS small base die set series A. I used that bullet seater to no avail
  17. using Lee dies Full sizing with the dead length bullet seating die on a 4 hole Lee Turret Press. I set up the bullet seating die according to Lee spec. Used Hornady and Lee 2nd edition reloading books for recipe data. Both books called for a COL of 2.210 Upon seating the bullet I can only get it to seat at COL 2.238. I tried to readjust the Die to no avail. So I pulled out my RCBS Small base die set bullet seating Die. And I got the same results. Has anyone else run into anything like this before? Is the polymer nose of the bullet somehow giving and compressing somehow? Ya have any thougths on my little problem
  18. I had this happen once, same as you described. No powder in the cartridge plain and simple
  19. Do yourself a favor go buy a lee Reloader press "C" frame (single stage press) for $35 it accepts standard 7/8 by 14 dies, If ya don't have a stand alone powder measure get the Lee Perfect powder measure for about $20-$25 and ya can ease yer way into the world of reloading. Yea and what he said about readin in the 2nd post, go get a couple books. The Lee 2nd edition reloading book is a great read although a little embellishing on the lee products, It still has excellent info and volumes of load data from all the powder manufacturers.
  20. Heres Alliants load data link for Speer 200 (lead semi wadcutters) LSWD http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/recipedetail.aspx?gtypeid=1&weight=200&shellid=35&bulletid=62 Heres MD smith's link http://www.reloadammo.com/45loads.htm I hope they can help you out, be careful read everthing twice, go slow and have fun
  21. I own a Lee auto indexing Turret Press, a Challenger Press and a Breech Lock Challenger Press. They all serve me just fine. I can knock out about 200 rounds per hour with the Turret Press. They have Press kits (as do all manufacturers) that you can view and compare. The Modern Relaoding book by Richard Lee is an excellent read for someone getting into reloading, especially if your using Lee products. Just go to the Lee Precision website and scroll down half a page they have a link "What do I need to start" reloading. One more thing, weather your using a $30 single stage reloading Press or a $1500 reloading Press if they both made 40 S&W ammo the end result from both presses will be 40 S&W ammo!
  22. Insted of a kinetic bullet puller ya might wanna try a Bullet pulling Die. Such as the Hornady or RCBS Die's. Theres just sumpthin about putting a live round in a hammer (so to speak) and poundin away. Also if ya ever run into a problem and have 10,20, 30 bullets to pull the dies sure do save time.
  23. I own A Lee Challenger Press, A Lee Breech Lock Challenger Press and a Lee 4 Station Auto Indexing Turret Press. I Guess you could say I like Lee products, I will only say If I spennt $200 or a $1000 on a press and I loaded 40 s&w the end result from both machines will be identical 40 S&W ammo. I can do 200 rounds an hour with my Turret press without breaking a sweat. But im sure those progressives can probably do that in 20 to 30 mins. If your looking for a Lee Single stage you may want to consider the Lee Turret press as it can be used as a single stage press. Speaking about books Richard Lee's Modern Reloading 2nd edition is a good read especially if your using Lee porducts, I find it is a great informational resource, Hornady 8th edition and Lymans 49th edition are both full of good stuff! Its good to have multiple resources to corrborate and compare what you are loading. Powder manufactures online give voluminous info regarding thier products. Good luck and have fun wtih your new hobby.
  24. Lets see if I can give ya some info to chew on. The COL or OAL #'s can be adjusted to best suit your gun. Now Im not talking drastic or dramatic changes. For example if the OAL is 1.90 and you use 1.80 because 1.90 does not fit well in the magazine or doesnt cycle well through the action because it's a little to long, a little shorter is not an extreme change to get it to fit your gun. However you will find recipes with minimums as well as maximum OAL's I would never go under a minimum length! Hornady's 8th edition lists 4 124 grain bullets FMJ-FP - OAL 1.050, FMJ-RN - OAL 1.050, HP-XTP - OAL 1.060 and LRN - OAL 1.090. All of these bullets used the same dozen or so recipes listed in the book. Modern Reloading by Richard Lee 2nd Edition: 125 Grain Metal Jacket... OAL 1.090 Lyman 49th Edition 1.075 After reading all of the above I would feel comfortable using anywhere from 1.050 to 1,090. Since the Maximum COL/OAL is 1.169 It will all depend on your gun, longer or shorter within the listed parameters. may affect the accuaracy of your gun only you can find this out. Good luck and have fun!
  25. Hot soapy water will dissolve any corrosive salts and stop corrosion in its tracks, then just let it dry, clean at yer convenience with yer favorite barrel cleaner. I use Hoppes #9
