  1. Full Metal Jacket Gun Range https://www.fmjgunrange.com/
  2. A pair of Surefire Earpro's (pick the size model that best suits you) with the Leight electronic muffs over the top have worked exceptionally well for me.
  3. I was told at the counter Freedom Munitions was allowed but have not actually tried shooting it there.
  4. Great, ty, just got 5k CCI, mix of SPP and LPP
  5. I have found it locally when needed, so yes, so far so good.
  6. Very nice. I've got the Ruger in 22lr for my kids and the 93R17 Savage in the TR model (your's looks like a BTV?) which has the McMillan-ish stock for Dad. Had all kinds of feed problems initially with the Savage. The magazines fit too loose and they dropped down just a little bit and did not allow the rounds to chamber. I had to pinch the back of the mags a little bit (the wings that ride up the guide) so they fit tighter and has been perfect since. 3-4 light taps with a rubber tipped hammer did the trick on each wing. The issue is described here - If your mags are loose, fix it before you even go to the range to avoid frustration.
  7. $18 was for background check and is now done online at a cost of $20 (+$2 online fee). If going through NJSP you will only need check for $2/permit made out to Divsion of State Police. More info here in this recent post - http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/68599-fpid-p2p-application-process/
  8. Very happy with my Vortex Crossfire 1-4 with v-brite reticle. Actually had a 1-4 PST and decided I liked this better. It's in your price range.
  9. A vortex 2.5-10 FFP is on my SPRish build...
  10. Yes, thanks about RR, first place I went. No updates on RR since 2013 (added a prosecutor talkgroup). Put a post up on their forums a couple days ago and haven't gotten any response that helps. Thanks for posting about Burlington, I listen to the SE Burl Co stuff and that has been silently recently, as well, will check RR for those updates and see if I can get that going again.
  11. Many digital systems can be scanned just fine. Encrypted digital (which many LE agencies have gone to) is another story. Most fire and EMS remain unencrypted. Good idea about Scanner Radio. Just installed that on my Android. Hearing dispatches on the UHF channel but not hearing the in service responses on the trunked system on either my scanner nor on Scanner Radio for Ocean County.
  12. Having some problems recently with my Radio Shack Pro-197 picking up Ocean County Trunking system. Worked fine for a long time but stopped working for me sometime in the past 6-8 weeks, not sure of exact date. I am located in Northern Atlantic County, but never had a problem receiving the trunking system for Ocean. Anyone that can lend a hand with a file or can have me run my settings by them we can take this to PM. Thanks!
  13. Have found a set of bases that will work, but I am choosing not to use them. They are the Weaver T-22 mounts. They mount to the rimfire rail as opposed to using the tapped receiver for mounting bases. They allow flexibility in mounting adjustment width of the rings. There are downsides, however. One, they are an extra 1/2" in height. If you use the high comb stock with some type of pad in combination with low rings, this would work. However, I am using the low comb stock with a pad so I can still use the irons. Which brings up the 2nd point of you can't use the irons with these bases installed as they are too high. Finally, I found it difficult to true up the bases to the centerline of the receiver as there is an adjustment screw on each side to attach the base to the receiver. I do expect someone (Weaver?) will have a base that mounts to the receiver that will provide Picatinny spacing sometime in the future. Until then, I picked up a Vortex Crossfire to use as a dedicated scope.
  14. So I've tried a couple different options for mounting a picatinny rail atop the rimfire rails and none have worked so far. Not much choice here other than to have a scope dedicated for this rifle or have the receiver re-drilled and tapped. Gotta give a thumbs down to Ruger on the design in this aspect.
  15. I know I can mount a Picatinny rail using the rimfire rails. I am dumbfounded that Ruger did not tap the receiver at a distance that was a standard Picatinny distance. It's only about 3/32" off.
  16. Ruger says to use Weaver #12 bases, so I ordered a set and moved the rings around on one of my scopes to fit. I was surprised to find that after doing so, the spacing of the rings no longer allowed me to mount the scope on my flat top AR. I find it hard to believe that Ruger would drill the receiver in a way that the spacing of mounted bases would not be compatible with picatinny/flat top spacing. Any thoughts?
  17. Where was the fire? It's hard to get past the sunglasses rack by the front door in an hour...
  18. Awesome assortment of optics to look through, as well. With the optics/firearms on the 2nd floor, you can look out the windows and really get a handle on the glass. Lots of quality glass, Zeiss, NF, Leupy.
  19. I have a preference for the beavertail models with the standard sig grips. I can get a plenty high grip. I have found with the E2 grips that the beavertail isn't needed for me to get the same high grip. I like the E2 grips on the p229, I don't like them on the p226 and p220. So I have a p226 and p220 with beavertails and standard sig grips and a p229 with E2 grips and no beavertail. I like the 1/2 beavertail on the p220 scorpion. Best of both worlds, imho. If you like shooting the sigs, you should try one with the all stainless frame, especially if you don't plan on carrying. 8 ozs heavier and soaks up even more recoil.
  20. Anyone have info about using electronic NICS checks in NJ now? Talked to one dealer who is using it...says it takes a bit longer then the phone. Talked to another who says they have tried it, but will continue using the phone until forced to do it electronically. Discussion?
  21. "However, federal law enforcement sources told CNN Tuesday that authorities have recovered three weapons from the scene of the mass shooting, including one -- a shotgun -- that investigators believe Alexis brought in to the compound. The other two weapons, which sources say were handguns, may have been taken from guards at the Navy complex." http://www.cnn.com/2013/09/17/us/ar-15-gun-debate/?hpt=hp_t1
  22. Had my hands on the new Ruger Rimfire last week. They make an 18" and a 22" barrel. Both come with iron sights, standard 22LR "rail" for mounting rimfire bases, and the receiver is also tapped for other bases. I also like the feature of 4 interchangeable stocks. The 18" barrel model comes with 2 stocks, both short length of pull models (under 13"), one with a higher comb for using scopes. The 22" comes with the longer length of pull stocks (again, both the low profile and the high comb). If you buy one rifle or the other then want the other stocks, they are $20/ea. Thinking about getting the 22" barrel model, then picking up the short low profile stock to let the kids shoot it with the iron sights.
  23. They aren't top of the line, but if you are looking for an entry level safe, Dick's has a pretty good sale going on this week. Have outgrown my cabinet (about to post in Marketplace) so I picked up a 16 gun Field and Stream convertible. Regularly $600, on sale for $450. Apply for their credit card and get another 10% off, plus double points on their Score card good for another $20 in Dick's credit. No sales tax so $385 out the door. I noticed that their website wasn't updated, was still showing lesser discounts from sale last week.
  24. I think you have to define the theme of the collection. You posted a fine "Modern Semi-Auto Firearms" collection, but a connoisseur of revolvers or lever action rifles wouldn't agree with your selections.
