  1. I used deodorant in college as spackle. I even filled what appeared to be a sheetrock joint that wasn't taped, just spackled which led to a yuge crack.
  2. I googled him.. No obituaries
  3. I assume someone PMed him?
  4. Older Smiths are typically nicer made. Forged vs powder metal parts, finer blue, locks, etc. 686s are the popular 357 these days. A tad smaller than a 27.
  5. You should try open carry. So far, no comments.
  6. I have never been towed knock on wood, but I called my dad to drop off some U joints on the side of 80 once!
  7. There are no experts here. Nope, none at all. I'll give you $500. I'll meet at a FFL of your choice. What do you have? Garands can be all over the place. (On a serious note, I call dibs if it's really crusty. I want a back from the dead project)
  8. Correct. Unfortunately. Rausch Creek is certainly not where I'd want to take a $40,000+ regular SUV. They have beginner trails-so maybe your Cherokee has a place there. A lot of the problem is you can probably make it through somewhere, but you have to drive this thing through midtown on Monday and don't want to drive through a mudpit. Stuff breaks. I am not familiar with new Jeeps, but low range is always a nice option to have. Again, driving on trails you probably don't need four wheel drive. High range would probably be more than enough. I've read Wharton State has a lot of fire roads to drive around in. I don't see why you couldn't go there. I have not been there myself but it doesn't seem rough. My dream is to do some Top Gear style overlanding, camping and driving over rolling hills for a few days. Not here unfortunately.
  9. Although the Maine FFL can sell an AR15 to you, they may not. Many out of state FFLs are leery of dealing with Occupied states and don't want to get caught up. Plenty of FFLs interpret laws incorrectly and refuse to sell people firearms. I'd buy the lower only through an FFL and deal with the upper seperately.
  10. Wranglers are very cushy these days, I'd give one a chance. What offroading are you looking to do? I've only owned pickup trucks and SUVs. I've looked for chances to off-road, and I've been limited to off road parks, the occasional access roads to reservoirs, powerline access roads, and my friends field when we went skeet shooting. The off road parks are serious, the trails illegal, and the last I used my girlfriends Escape. A beetle would have worked. I never went to the park because I didn't feel like beating up my daily driver. I've looked for overlanding opportunities, and I can't find one. However, if you find a 100 mile stretch of open land to trek across call me. I'll bring my campstove. What I'm saying is, I don't think you'll take the thing offroad unless you want to get stuck in Rausch Creek or cruise Wharton State Forest. I have two doors, a low range transfer case, and new all terrain tires. I throw it in 4x4 high getting out of my driveway then back into 2wd when it snows. The other days of the year I dont touch it.
  11. Grind off the bayonet lug yourself, buy a proper brake, and have the brake attached by a competent person. Mail the upper to NJ, do the work, then take the lower via a FFL
  12. Welcome to the neighborhood
  13. Sears, Kmart, and I believe JC Penny all sold their own rebranded guns. Mostly 22s, shotguns, and some rifles. What other stores did this? Newberry? Wal-Mart? I always wanted one for the fun of it. I think JCP used their current typeface as a roll mark too.
  14. According to Gunboards izhevsk. Allegedly prototype removable foldable bayonets on stock 91/30s.

    Sangria

Doesn't matter LOL. Easy drinking, I suppose

    Sangria

I need to make Sangria for a camping trip. Shoot me over your recipes
  17. I am a Boones Farm or Charles Shaw man myself.
  18. Mavis manager called me. Very apologetic, straightforward, offered to repair my stripped wheel stud, etc. I told him I'd do it myself since I probably have to do the parking brakes and rear pads anyway. Offered free labor if I supplied parts. I forgot to mention i have a stripped stud. I have no idea if they stripped it but I assumed they did. Any shop would have offered to get me to pay for it if it came in like that. I have a lot of respect for the guy for the way he handled it. Local shop is $30 to balance four wheels. I'm tempted to bring it there.
  19. Nice! What did you pay for it? I don't want two Toks, but I think the M70 might be a great CCW gun. I'd be tempted to cut the frame for regular mags.
  20. I had good results with General before. Is this no bueno? I never used plastic wheel weights. Wheels previously were lead or zinc clip one
  21. I think I'll keep bringing it back. Maybe I'll get lucky
  22. Purchased new 30x10.5 R16 all terrain tires from Wal-Mart online and had them mounted/balanced with an alignment by mavis sunday. Drive home was smooth at 40mph. Drive to work was horrible. 55mph, shaking bad. Had mavis by work rebalance it and they told me the first balance was definitely off. Drive home, intermittent shaking. Would be okay for old tires but I consider it bad for new balanced tires. 65-70mph. Drive in, pretty good. Occasional shudder at highway speed. Drive home in rain, constant light shaking at speed. Suggestions? I don't want to bring it to mavis daily as eventually they will start blaming my car. I kind of want to try dynabeads but I feel like there's a problem I'm missing. Lower balljoints are new, shocks are new. Torsion bar Ford front end.
