  1. I am looking to build an all around shotgun, but I think I am attempting to kill too many birds with one stone. I LOVE the look of short barrel shotguns, similar to this: Thing is... I don't know much about shotguns. I want to use this for killing clay birds, and home defense. I haven't been skeet shooting in years, but I know that most people prefer 26-30'' barrels, and I am looking for a 20'' or so. I imagine that a 20'' with a full choke might be okay for skeet, but nothing great. I also don't know much about 870's in general. Express or whatnot. I want a 12 gauge, but I dont know what. Educate me please, and excuse my noobishness.
  2. Just to clairify... Gunsock=in the clear? so gunsock+gunrack=perfectly in the clear?
  3. Beating a dead horse here, but... I have a regular cab shortbed F150, without a cap or anything like that. PRNJ doctrine calls for long guns to be transported in a secured case when the vehicle does not have a trunk... with that said, can I gunsock rifles and hang them in a window mount gun rack, legally? I emailed the NJSP on it but did not hear a reply yet. I enjoy not being in jail so I read first.
  4. I am playing the Devils advocate here. My dad had legally inherited a bunch of longarms, pistols, and air rifles/pistols years back. Him and I both of FID's currently, I was probably 17 at the time. A few of the air pistols are of 1950's/1960's vintage. I am kind of annoyed that I legally cant take any of the pistols and shoot in the woods, because one of them is a really nice Crosman .22 air pistol. Anyway, how would he transfer an air pistol to me legally, one that was never made with a serial number? Because of the PRNJ, I really dont want to "own" it anyway. Also, if someone has a good linky on what NJ's home defense laws are, that would be great. 'Cause I am pretty sure if I pick up the .45 (which is my dads) and shoot somebody who is attempting to murder me inside my home, I still go to the Jersey Gulag.
  5. I have a FID, but I am 20. I was wondering if I could transport my dads pistols to and from the range legally, or if that would land me in jail. I dont like jail. Secondly, if I can't transport them now, can I do so when I am 21 or do they need to be registered to me if in my posession?
  6. So let me get this straight... if I add a pistol grip stock that I were to make, I would have an issue with 922r compliance. The combo of bayonet, and pistol grip would be PRNJ acceptable though. To make an SKS 922r happy with my stock, I would need to add a certain number of American parts, correct? Of which, I could look into a bolt, fixed mag, and thats about it? Accually, now that I have done more homework I realize the SKS has 14 parts to it, If I replace the stock, I will have 11 or 12 foreign parts on it depending on who you ask (some say the stock equals two parts, others say three). Would a new firing pin count as one 922r part? Not a Tapco bolt, but there is one site offering the spring loaded firing pins that drop in to prevent slamfires. I would really like to keep the OE bolt, mag, etc.
  7. Killing a few birds with one stone here, so bear with me please. 1. I am a little confused on the "Evil feature" capacity on "Assault Weapons". I always understood there was a three evil feature limit. Is it two features and the third makes you a criminal, or no more than three? 2. Reason I ask is because I might be buying an SKS in the next few months, and I would like to make a wooden pistol grip stock for it. I would keep it stock which would leave me with a 10 round fixed magazine (legal), a bayonet (one evil), semi auto function (evil #2), and a pistol grip (evil #3). Would that be kosher in the Peoples Republic? 3. Finally, is anyone here a member of the Mount Freedom Gun Club? My old man and grandfather used to be members and I would like to talk to somebody from there. I can barely find any info on it over the internet. I know this isnt the right place to ask, but I like killing birds with one stone. Thanks!
  8. Im located in Morris County, and Im looking to see what is out there for ranges. All I know of is Sunset Hill in PA. Im looking for somewhere to shoot .22 and skeet in NJ, and if there are any decent ranges in the Poconos. Also, what is around for gun stores? I know of the Silver Bullet in Rockaway, Ramsey Outdoor (a joke) and one place up 287 that I cant remember the name of...
