80% receiver blanks gaining more public scrutiny
mintbore replied to Regular Guy's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
If I'm correct: By completing an 80% receiver, you are considered a manufacturer. And under NFA, manufacturers must register and number operational receivers.....and how about YOU chill and have a civil discussion about it. -
80% receiver blanks gaining more public scrutiny
mintbore replied to Regular Guy's topic in Pending Legislation Discussion
Probably not a popular opinion, but face it...completing an 80% and not registering is a direct violation of the law...period. -
Yup, about 9 lb. Meant mainly for the bench.

Here's my latest build. had it up to CR, and she performed flawlessly...not a glitch: Mega SBU Upper Douglas .936 and matched bolt by CLE Noreen Lower TiN BCG Seekins SP3R rail AR Gold flat trigger Xtreme 6-24x30 Royal Grip Magpul MOE Royal Bronze / Black Oxide Duracoat. ....hope you like.

Agreed. Going with a micro gasblock.
-
Hoping to get some guidance on this one. I have a .936 barrel with a fairly beefy gasblock on a Mega SBU billet upper. I doesn't touch the handguard but there's about enough clearance to slip a business card between. No muzzle device, but I'm still wondering if it's too close during barrel whip. I can simply go with a micro gasblock if necessary, but not sure if I'm worrying for nothing. Thanks

Excellent info. Thank you. Looks like 1:8 is the most logical. I am looking at a Douglas in this twist 20"

Registration question

This was a 10/22 receiver from Kidd -
Hello all, Seeking AR builder's opinions: First time builder here. Looking to build a bench only tack driver based on a Mega Heavy Duty upper. I am considering a 1/12 twist for 40-50 gr rounds. Since I am limiting this gun to paper only, would you go with a light grain/high velocity setup like this, or would you stick wit the faster twists and more versatility. Thanks

I recently heard some untrue rumors that Mastadon Ammo and Camo in Highland Lakes is closed. THIS IS TOTALLY untrue. It seems a "For Sale" sign in front is confusing people. The sign has nothing to do with Mastadon doing regular business, and I strongly suggest you stop by and check it out if you haven't already. Great people down there!

Good morning, I recently purchased a new receiver from the manufacturer. I specifically put my FFL's address to ship it to. They, instead sent it directly to my home. Can I simply bring it to my FFL to book and register? Thanks

Looking for a new rimfire rifle for the spring
mintbore replied to always_an_eagle's topic in Rimfire Pistols & Rifles
I hear so much good about the CZ452/455 over at Rimfire Central that it's getting old. Only negs I hear are the trigger and flimsy mag. But wood metal finish and accuracy is supposed to be exceptional. -
Mine took a 1/16". It was tight but it was the correct size.

If only one....No Go to avoid excessive headspace. But both are a safer bet. Always remove the ejector...extractor can stay in on any style bolt
