  1. am i correct in reading this part " the initial issuance of firearms purchaser identification cards and any permits to purchase a handgun to residents seeking to purchase a rifle, shotgun, or handgun, as the case may be, but who at the time of their application for a firearms purchaser identification card or permit to purchase a handgun are the holder of a valid driver’s license or identification card that is not embedded with information affirming that they are qualified and eligible to purchase a rifle, shotgun, or handgun. Such paper cards and permits shall be issued and shall be valid only until the holder’s driver’s license or identification card is first subject to renewal; or" means that if you have a paper card it is good for 73 months after this is established. Then after that they will no longer be accepted and you will have to get the new kind.
  2. welcome to the forums and the gun world! and yes there actually is lol http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php?/topic/12239-acronyms-and-abbreviations/?&hl=abbreviations&fromsearch=1 trust me i studied it for the first month i was on here/a firearms owner. You will learn real fast.
  3. thanks for the shoutout mike! it looks fricken awesome!
  4. Glad to see you got a response i know for me it was at least a good feeling that there is someone out there listening. As per what they said thought i agree they are lying. Like i said in a matter of a 1 week span with a simple email me and a friend got 2 done. Hopefully this at least pushes you to the top of the pile and makes you a priority i know that's what it did for us.
  5. Contact the mayor as soon as you can! if he is at all pro 2A or even wants to get reelected he will help you. I waited 45 days in jackson emailed the mayor 4 days later got it, my friend waited 110 i told him what i did, he emailed the mayor and had it 2 days later. Hopefully your mayor is on top of things and is willing to help, but definitely don't be shy it cant hurt to try.
  6. This is a gas problem evidenced by the failure to lock back on the last round, the ejector would have nothing to do with that. i agree thats why i added that, i also have checked all parts of the ejector. What make is the rifle/BCG? its a mutt Can you post pics of the BCG especially the carrier key screws? yes i can when i get home How many rounds through the gun? <500 Have you done any preventative maintenance since you got the rifle? yes Any gas leakage/discoloration around the gas block? no but there is a lot of "blow back" around where the gas tube enters the upper receiver Any holes in the gas tube? havent checked yet Have you tried a different BCG in the rifle? no but thats a good idea
  7. Simple way to check gas rings on the bolt. Take BCG out of rifle. Pull the bolt all the way out in the carrier. Stand BCG on tabletop with the bolt facing down. Does the bolt retract into the carrier under weight of the carrier alone? No, rings OK, Yes, replace rings. thats what was suggested Get brake cleaner. Hold upper with muzzle to ground. Spray brake clean down gas tube. Does it come out the muzzle? good idea Check carrier key. Loose? Missing or broken screws? Key clean? No Stuck primers or junk in key? Key mating properly with gas tube? Barrel nut tight? Alignment? Carrier key is good, and checked barrel nut and alignment Check bolt for proper function of ejector and extractor parts. Especially springs. checked Carrier clean? Lubed? checked You stated it cycled OK with snap caps. Otherwise are buffer tube extension parts in place and functioning properly? checked Weak Ammo? tried different ammo Change any parts lately? no Ejection should be at 3 to 4 o'clock on the brass (Twelve is at muzzle, six is end of stock). Sooner or later suggests a possible problem. direction is correct there only going 4-6 inches though
  8. i sense this discussion approaching very close to Godwins law.
  9. suggested checking for obstructions, gas key and a way to check that the rings are good on the bolt.
  10. yes it is i checked that yes gun fires and ejects just the ejection is weak
  11. oldskool sent me some things to try im going to give it a shot tonight see how i make out, thank you much ill let you know
  12. My AR was working perfectly fine. i noticed last weekend at the range that it seemed to be ejecting weak. And now this weekend its not feeding the next round. My assumption is that its gas related considering the weak ejection and my guess that the bolt is not coming back far enough. Has anyone else ever had this type of issue or know of where to look first? I have tested a bunch of different mags in it to rule that out, including ones that worked a week a ago. It will cycle snap caps no problem if you pull the charging handle manually. i have intent to take off the front gas block and clean it and check for obstructions, but of course i cant check it until i get back to the range. PS it wont lock open on the last round either which is why i mainly think the bolt is not coming back far enough.
  13. Honestly im not sure i never got a straight answer on that. when i asked if hypothetically done outside and brought back i was told that its just a terrible idea due to NJ legislature. i honestly don't know "legally" why /where it says you couldn't do that.
  14. now if we could just intercept a ICBM we would be a world power again lol
  15. i argued that point too apparently its moot. There are a lot of guys who know a lot more then me and they all said its not a good idea to do that.

  18. got my original FID and p2p in toms river in 28 days, unfortunately mastronardy is up for sheriff but that would have been nice lol
  19. im assuming the rope for it has pulled off at this point?
  20. how are you going to let the dog suffer after you shoot him!? and how bad is your aim that 4 shots you cant kill a dog, it would be nice to know that officers are qualified to use a tool for their job.
  21. From what i have read on here in the past absolutely. Think about it why not, its like you sold it to her and then she sells it back. disclaimer: im just another citizen of the PRNJ trying to get by not a lawyer
  22. well here is the answer from the mayor 5 mins after i hit send !! i think this is a good sign! I have sent a request to the Police Captain in charge of permits. Let's hope it moves through faster now. I too am a second amendment advocate. Keep me posted, thank you.
  23. this is my letter: Dear Mayor Reina, I am writing this to you with concern about my FID and many others. I apologize for bothering you with an issue that most do not consider essential, but to me and a lot of others it is very frustrating. I have been waiting approximately two months now for my change of address for my firearms ID. My friend who applied before me is now about three and half months into the process with no sign of getting it any time soon. As my concern grew i started to ask around on the local forums if anyone else has experienced this problem, and it seems that the average time is about 6 months to get your ID back. The employees in the record department told me that it wouldn't take very long because it was just a change of address, but they did make me do the whole process over again even thought i brought the change of address form with me. When i asked them why, i was given the reason, "this is how we do it". Though not thrilled with the idea of having to repeat the full process i decided that it was easier to follow their directions rather than buck the system. Then when i called this morning (6/28/13) to check on my status I was hung up on the first time when I asked about my paperwork. When i called back i was placed on hold for about 5 minutes and when the employee returned she informed me that my paperwork is "upstairs" and "its going to be some more weeks". I do understand that our police force is busy and i do understand that right now there are a lot more people applying than in the past but i still think that of all the departments the police should have to follow the same laws that they enforce. I also think that a more definitive time then "some weeks" could be pervade to the people who are patiently waiting. Shooting is my only hobby and is becoming hard enough to enjoy with all the new laws and current tough regulations of NJ, not having a FID is only making it harder for me. Thank you for your time. If i get no response i will surely call
