  1. This is interesting. I think you may still be considered to be in constructive possession of the handgun if you have all the parts. I wonder at what point a handgun is no longer a handgun? Say I removed the barrel from my handgun, left the barrel at home, drove around with the frame and slide only assembled in the trunk? Hard to argue constructive possession when you lack critical parts.
  2. Check out the Beretta forums. Those guys are very knowledgeable and I'm sure someone can answer this for you if no one on NGF can.
  3. Anyone going today? I am thinking about going around 6-7pm. My only concern that because of today being a holiday and many people are off work that it will be packed. Maybe though since people are off they will go earlier in the day and the evening won't be as bad as I expect.
  4. See article here. http://www.nj.com/cumberland/index.ssf/2011/12/millville_veteran_let_me_carry.html
  5. Looks like Rothman is going to challenge Pascrell in a Dem primary battle. Garrett is safe, but I'm not sure who will come on top between Rothman and Pascrell. http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/12/rep_rothman_announces_he_will.html
  6. I was just thinking today... what about transport on foot? I live within walking distance of a shooting range. It's easier to drive there, but on a nice summer day maybe I'd like to get some exercise by walking there. All the NJ laws I see quoted here are about transporting in automobiles. How do I transport a firearm on foot?
  7. This is terrible. I'm not around children much, but would a 3 year old even have the strength to pull some triggers?
  8. This is the class I was thinking about taking. http://www.gunforhire.com/gun-classes_first_steps_pistol.html#.TutYPNQV2eQ
  9. I plan on picking up my first handgun soon and I want to make sure that I have a solid grip on the basics of handling and caring for my weapon. I have gone shooting a few times before with friends who own handguns and they have given me some tips and advice. One of them has the exact same pistol I plan on buying and he's shown me how it works, how to take it apart and clean it etc. My gun owning friends are all casual shooters, none are LE or military etc. I am also considering taking the First Steps Pistol course at Gun for Hire. Does anyone with experience with the course have an opinion on whether it will be worth my time? I've read great reviews about GFH and the instructors there, I have no doubt they're competent and capable. I just don't want to spend $175 on the course if it's only going to cover the very basics which I feel I have a good grasp on already. If I'm only going to be learning things I already know that $175 could go towards ammo, range rental fees, future gun purchases, etc. Please advise.

  11. What store was this if you don't mind posting? Sounds like great customer service.
  12. Beretta 92 series is 9mm and 15 round magazines can be had.
  13. Very nice. How much did it cost?
  14. In my research I've noticed that the FFL's who operate from home have much lower prices than the FFL's with full storefront's to support. Obviously the overhead for the home businesses is lower hence the lower markup. Must be hard for the people with storefront's to compete.
  15. Thanks. I'm anticipating my first firearm purchase so I'm trying to learn the etiquette. Also, I'm curious.. typically what's the markup on new firearms? What the FFL is paying for it is certainly the number 1 factor in how much they'll wiggle. What percentage is a typical markup?
  16. This place was exactly what I had in mind. I'll have to give them a call, thanks. How are their prices generally?
