There is no dress code at Cherry Ridge range other than eye and ear protection.

Frank is correct ....... as written in CR rules:Firearms that are not being handled or that are unattended must either be cased or have a safety flag installed in the open breech (NOT in the gun's muzzle) The fundamental NRA rules for safe gun handling are: 1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances. 2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger. 3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. IMHO, it removes all doubt whether or not a firearm has a round in the chamber if the action is open and a flag( empty chamber indicator ) is properly installed

about 2 years ago steel ban was in effect on the 100 yard rifle line then it was lifted ,then we got steel targets we restricted use of steel in those areas only,now no restriction of steel core on the steel targets this applies only to the 100 yard rifle line. all other ammo restrictions apply

(Disregard the magnet test.... it was to test for steel core.) (a lot of AP will not stick to a magnet AP can contain non-ferous metals that do not stick to a magnet yet will peirce through steel plate) hope that helps,if not next time you are a the range have and RO check your ammo.

Update :steel core is no longer restricted on the 100 yard line steel targets the following still applies no armor piercing no cartridge "hotter than" 7.62NATO ballistically no cross firing on the steel please speak with a RO if you need any clarification. Thank You.

I went and measured the range from the center bench to the last target holder by the berm 164feet.

Frank, When ANJRPC had Volunteers running the training program it was maybe 1or 2 times a year and the only thing that was "free" was the volunteers time. there was a charge for training. if i recall when I took a course with them at that time basic pistol was about $150 the volunteers did it to maintain there instructor certs as required by N-ra

The "steel target" that is installed Is at port 26 on the pistol line it is currently at 50 yards and should only be fired apon from port 26,Please no steel core ammo and Nothing "hotter"than 44mag. so far responce has been positive and more are being considered. if you are pleased with the steel targets please send an email in.

not a problem,use the call box located at the front gate to gain access, go to the club house and someone can give you information about membership and give you a map of the property , Ear plugs are a good idea if you will be visiting the ranges.

Tom, I feel your pain.... Your 45-70 is fine, The plate rule is nothing "hotter" than .308 ballisticly (in fact slugs are fine on the plate.12ga being aprox .54 cal.) its a speed, possible riccoshay thing.... Steel on the high power range ? I do not think we will ever see it, but how knows, I never thought steel would be on the ranges at all.

Tom,.50 cal restrictions apply,no steel core in any caliber on the high power line (200-300 line)

The range currently has a plate that is on the 100 yard line, it can be fired apon from the specific section as indicated by signage above the 4 ports with rifles up to .308,please varify you are not shooting any steel core or steel jacketed bullets. more plates are planed and are in production as read this, you should see more within 6-9 months. there is currently a plate on the pistol line at 50 yards,to be fired apon from port 26. again varify no steel bullets. sorry,No run and gun in the ranges current config. and only paper targets allowed,unless placed by the range.

For the record,I was only stating the fact that every range that we shoot at has rules that we shoot under,It is not my intention to infringe on anyone's 1st amendment rights,nor was I directing my comments to any one person. I was stating facts. if you feel you were personally attacked this was not my intent.

as a mater of fact that would also be in violation of the range rules that state that all your shoots must impact the berms/traps . as a responsible firearms owner that follows the most basic firearms rules "always know your target and what is beyond" you would not have a problem using the stated frame. The only constant IMHO is the folks here that have a bitch here are those that feel that range rules (that you agreed to when you joined) do not apply to you and you get your feelings hurt if someone calls you on it.
