  1. Well......... I posted all that information in the thread below 3 days ago " SAF Lauds Puerto Rico Court Victory For Gun Rights - Huge Victory"http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/topic/77198-saf-lauds-puerto-rico-court-victory-for-gun-rights-huge-victory/ Puerto Ricans can now carry firearms without a permit and the firearms registry has been eliminated. And there are no more licensing requirements to purchase. From what the article says, it looks just regular Federal Law takes precedence. This has all the makings of a landmark victory. I posted this here because it is current gun law and perhaps it might have bearing (or influence) on New Jersey in some way in the future. The politicians in NJ can't keep all these outdated and draconian gun laws in place and keep denying the right to carry without it legally coming back and biting them in the ass sometime in the future (in my opinion). Congratulations to our friends in Puerto Rico. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/saf-lauds-puerto-rico-court-victory-for-gun-rights-300102214.html "A surprising victory for gun rights in Puerto Rico has eliminated the firearms registry and licensing requirements to purchase and carry in the Commonwealth, the Second Amendment Foundation has confirmed. As of now, according to Sandra Barreras with Ladies of the Second Amendment (LSA), the group that brought the lawsuit, "there is no regulation to purchase or carry (and) all purchases will be handled in accordance with federal firearms regulations." LSA is affiliated with SAF through the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR)."
  2. Did the Burlington man contact Nappen or hired an attorney? Is any Pro-Gun group involved with helping him?
  3. What is a misdemeanor in in one state is a Felony in another. The threshold for felony shoplifting can be $200, $500 or $1,000 depending which state. Drunk driving laws vary greatly too. A second drunk driving conviction in 5 years can be a felony in one state or a misdemeanor in another. I believe non violent felons should have their rights restored after serving their time and making restitution if applicable. Martha Stewart is a good example of a non violent felon. She should have her rights restored, G Gordon Liddy too. Others might disagree and that is OK too. But once someone has Felony conviction on their record, they are essentially marked for life. Does someone who pushed paperwork the wrong way be treated the same as someone who pushed drugs? Should someone who shoplifted $201 get that scarlet letter (Felon) for life versus someone who shoplifted $199 and got a misdemeanor ? Is the white collar criminal the same threat to society as an murderer? These are all questions that need to be resolved someday. Be it said I am not some liberal who thinks that no one should face jail time for committing crimes. But does that crime justify being branded for life? Should someone who got caught pissing in a park at night be labeled a sex offender? Should someone with a second drunk driving conviction in 5 years get a Felony conviction? Should someone who did a white collar crime 10 years ago and served their sentence and paid their fines and remained out of trouble for those 10 years still carry the stigma of being labeled a Felon? As for the Burlington man and is situation, the easy thing to suggest is to have him contact Evan Nappen. The man should not have his rights violated, I know this is New Jersey and all that. But if he has no record he must not have his rights denied. This story needs to get traction on a National level.

  5. (Tin foil hat on) Of course this is purely wild speculation. But suppose all that donated military equipment like tanks, SUV's, helicopters and machine guns the police received also has a hidden purpose? What better way to transport military equipment across the country, hide it in plain sight and keep it maintained in strategic locations around the U.S. under the cover of donating it to law enforcement? Sure law enforcement can keep it, but if it was needed for civil unrest during some national crisis...the military could take it back at a moments notice...and if they pre-planned this...it wouldn't have to be shipped far from where it is now. (Tin foil hat off)

  7. 'No one helped her': NJ woman murdered by ex while awaiting gun permit http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/06/10/no-one-helped-her-nj-woman-murdered-by-ex-while-waiting-for-gun-permit/ "New Jersey's gun laws are among the nation's strictest, but law-abiding citizens are eligible to purchase and possess handguns after filling out forms available at their local police stations, submitting to a background check on any possible criminal history or mental health issues, giving fingerprints and paying a fee. Once those steps are taken, local police conduct a 14-point investigation and the chief is supposed to approve or deny for cause within 30 days. Check did not return requests for comment, but gun rights advocates say it is not unusual for Garden State police chiefs to take several months to approve handgun permits for qualified applicants. “The gun law’s intention is to be as difficult and cumbersome as possible,” Alexander Roubian, president of the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, told FoxNews.com. “They need to be repealed. “The system is so outdated," Roubian continued. "In most states, you go to the store, get a background check, and purchase a weapon. A police chief should have no part of the process. This woman had a legitimate issue and no one helped her.” Perry Chiaramonte is a reporter for FoxNews.com. Follow him on Twitter at @perrych
  8. That makes the most logical sense.
  9. It is an ancient battery charger. Probably $20 on eBay.
  10. Facebook GOA Updates have a link to the Breitbart story "Governor Christie Pardons Aspiring Black Cop Steffon Josey-Davis" http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/06/08/governor-christie-pardons-aspiring-black-cop-steffon-josey-davis/
  11. The "Express" over in the U.K. says Jade Helm 15 is a cover for the gigantic asteroid that hit us in September and the ensuing chaos that happens after. "US military secretly preparing for asteroid that will wipe out mankind in September" http://www.express.co.uk/news/weird/583002/US-military-secretly-preparing-asteroid-wipe-out-mankind-September-Jade-Helm "One blogger has worryingly suggested US residents retain their firearms after suggesting that the controversial military operation Jade Helm taking place between July and September in several southern states is in preparation for predicted anarchy that could ensue as the asteroid nears the planet." --- Chuck Norris (yes that one) in an article to WND has a different take on all of it Did ISIS give a clue about Jade Helm 15? Exclusive: Chuck Norris explores link between terrorist plot, U.S. military exercises http://www.wnd.com/2015/06/did-isis-give-a-clue-about-jade-helm-15/ “I do believe, in addition to the largest domestic military training, it is also a display of power (near the southern border) intended for deterrence of enemies like ISIS and other terrorists, whom the FBI has already said have tentacles in all 50 states.” --- Here is a recent Huffington Post about Jade Helm 15 and Texas "Meet The Fearsome Texas State Army Taking On Jade Helm 15" http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/08/greg-abbott-state-guard_n_7537230.html "When an extreme fringe of the Internet went into a paranoid frenzy about the U.S. military's Jade Helm 15 exercise, which begins next month in the Southwest, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ® did what any reasonable governor would do: He requested the commander of his forces to monitor the United States Special Operations Command. The rest of the sane world reacted by criticizing Abbott, or being confused as to what kind of troops the governor actually has at his command. "
  12. (Tin foil hat on). I wonder if Bloomberg (and company) could also be behind this. If he can silence pro-gun sites, organizations and magazines. Then how would we know when some anti-gun legislation would take place? How could we effectively counter anti-gun legislation? (Tin foil hat off) Now back to regularly scheduled commentary (subject to ITAR regulations)......
  13. Four Hours for a background check? It takes less than two minutes for a FBI NICS background check here. .
  14. I didn't even see it on Facebook, this is the only place I heard of it.
  15. I saw this on the "GOA Alerts" on Facebook. Which is linked up to http://www.thefederalistpapers.org/second-amendment-2/outrageous-nj-woman-brutally-murdered-while-waiting-for-pistol-permit-to-protect-herself Yes Fox and rt news needs to pick up on this, and NRAILIA and other pro-gun outlets. And someone needs to ask CC about this and what he intends to do as Governor to prevent something like this from this happening again. (I know he can't change the laws, but put him on the spot and ask him any way.) Lemme guess what CC will have to say on this? "New Jersey is Special".............................. I posted the story at another gun forum "NJ Woman Brutally Murdered While Waiting for Pistol Permit to Protect Herself" http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9928427 Edit: Also posted at the open carry forum http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?130138-NJ-Woman-Brutally-Murdered-While-Waiting-for-Pistol-Permit-to-Protect-Herself&p=2146153#post2146153 .
  16. (Friend from NJ posted this on Facebook. This might be of interest to some here. I'm not really familiar with the issues surrounding Common Core as much as she is, but she said this was important.) Gov. Chris Christie calls for end of Common Core in New Jersey http://7online.com/education/gov-chris-christie-calls-for-end-of-common-core-in-new-jersey/746353/ "Gov. Chris Christie is backing away from the use of Common Core school standards, saying the system isn't working for students in New Jersey."
  17. Is anyone going to NY to see "Manhattanhenge" tonight? Or sometimes know as the Manhattan Solstice. http://pix11.com/2015/05/29/where-to-see-manhattanhenge-tonight/ "It’s all because of a twice-a-year phenomenon known as Manhattanhenge, where the sunset aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s grid, sending a cascade of golden-hour sunlight spilling down cross streets. The phenomenon gets its name from a play on the prehistoric monument Stonehenge in England, and was coined by popular astronomer Neil deGrasse Tyson."
  18. They are finishing up some funky looking "Sound Barriers" surrounding the state. Check out these new signs just before you enter the state . The toll plaza is getting a new look
  19. The world media is picking up on the story. It mentions both sides of the issue. Police complaints prompt Texas to reconsider open carry amendment http://rt.com/usa/262789-texas-amendment-open-carry/ "Opposition from police is being attributed with a decision in the Texas legislature this week to stall an amendment, which would let cops ask gun owners to produce firearms permits on the spot. It’s complicating the future of the state’s open carry rules. The Texas legislature has to act before the end of the month on a bill that would let handguns be carried openly in the Lone Star State, but the House on Wednesday stalled efforts by electing to send a controversial amendment to a bipartisan conference committee. "
  20. Open Carry might not pass in Texas after all....... Open carry in Texas might be shot down...pun intended. The sticking point seems to be an amendment that would prevents cops from stopping OC carriers to see if they have a valid concealed permit. The reason for the amendment was so that minorities would not be singled out if they were OC. However Austin's police chief is against the amendment because he claims it would create unlicensed open carry. The police chief is described as having "no respect" for the second amendment and is originally from California, which might answer some questions. If this all falls through, unfortunately it will be another two years before the bill can be introduced again. Or... if the Texas Governor can call a special session to deal with the open carry legislation specifically. As they say..stay tuned. This might go all the way to the wire, as the old saying goes. http://bearingarms.com/police-chief-opposition-activist-idiocy-may-kill-open-carry-texas/ "Five senators and representatives will have to reach a compromise in the language of the bill that both the House and Senate agree upon. If they can’t agree, the legislation is dead. If they agree, the compromise legislation must then be approved in new votes by both the House and Senate. They must do so by Monday. If both Houses fail to pass the legislation, or the session expires, the legislation is dead." Note: If any wishes to see the live proceeding. Check out http://www.house.state.tx.us/video-audio/ If anyone wants to view an ongoing 19 page commentary of the this and the proceedings, then check out a thread at THR. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=778140
  21. Speaking as an outsider, I'm still surprised that the gun transport laws have not been challenged as unconstitutionally vague, subject to interpretation and could not be enforced fairly. Maybe the answer could be is to support legislation that says if a law (any law) is not spelled out clearly, then the law is invalid. What do I know?
  22. So the Dell site has a laptop for $299 reduced from $349. Is the 40% off included in that deal? Or is it 40% off of $299? "Dell Latitude E5420 2GB RAM 250GB HDD Your Price: $349.00 $299.00 [ $50.00 Instant Savings] Limited time offer" By the way, that 3.5% tax rate sounds in Paterson like a great deal just by itself! Our closest MicroCenter is up in Sharonville Ohio about 30 miles from here.
