  1. Maybe an AR Accu Wedge buffer if not the solution vladtepes provided?
  2. $699.95 Spike's Tactical 14.5" CHF Middy, NiB BCG, Dynacomp, MOE Handguard http://www.aimsurplu...x?item=XSTU9540 I figured I'd post the deal since most people are looking for quality upper. Only issue would be to get that bayonet lug off, otherwise you've got a pretty solid start with their light weight Spike's Tactical "Optimum Profile" Barrel, MOE hand guards, and sweet CHF 1:7 twist with a comp. Oh, that and the NiB bolt carriers are supposed to be wicked easy to clean with their natural lubricity properties.
  3. Now available: $699.95 Spike's Tactical 14.5" Middy Spike's Optimum Barrel Profile (lighter than gov't profile, stronger than lightweight/pencil profile) Dynacomp w/ NiB BCG + MOE handguard http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XSTU9540
  4. Well I'll be there tomorrow, for sure. Might bring my girl so she can watch as well. What time is the steel competitions? The OD is closer to me but depending on weather I'd check out either.
  5. I was just curious, as a non-member can I just go and watch at either of the OBRPC ID or OD ranges? I'm assuming if I am allowed, bring my ears and eye pro?
  6. Oh, I didn't realize you had the MOE hand guard. In that respect it depends on if you prefer the TLR-1S mounted at the 10 or 2-o'clock position. At the 10, it's more in line with your body if you're a righty shooter, liable to snag/rub on your body or gear if you have your rifle on a sling and let it down (then the left side of the rifle will rest against you). At the 2, it's on your strong side but may be difficult to activate without a remote switch, avoids snagging on gear if you let the rifle down but you may hit door frames going through them if you're not used to it since it's not in your direct line of sight.
  7. Finally getting around to posting more on the NJGF so here's my AR and GSG 1911 .22LR. Just tweaked my RSA and VTAC rail a bit so my irons will need slight tweaking once I join OBRPC. Specs if anyone's interested is: Upper Receiver 14.5" Riflegear Mid-length CHF 1:7 5.56 with VTAC TRX 11" Rail BattleComp 1.5 pinned and welded by Riflegear Magpul RSA Magpul MBUS Gen2 + Surefire Scout M600C with remote line zip-tied. Lower Receiver Spike's Tactical Lower G&R Tactical LPK + H buffer Noveske receiver QD endplate (I was not a fan of the Magpul ASAP rattle) Magpul trigger guard Magpul ACS Stock non-adjustable at the #2 position Magpul MOE+ Grip (awesome upgrade over stock MOE imo... rubberized grip = positive engagement and +comfort) + Magpul MS3 Sling + Midwest PX curved 15-rds with ranger plate + GSG 1911 .22LR, flat MSH & magwell by Fusion
  8. Hello There! I've been forum-lurking for awhile now but finally decided to post an intro, even though I've got a few posts here and there. Looking to join OBRPC this next orientation (and consequently also have submit for NRA membership if I recall correctly) so I can get some time in the range with my GSG-1911 .22LR and my evil black rifle. So overall... howdy! Any tips or info on OBRPC or NRA membership (probably will start with a 2-5 year and then move to lifetime depending on my circumstances) would be great. Thanks!
  9. Hey Shawn, do you have a rail on the top of your forearm or do you have the standard clamshell style plastic handguards? From my research when I was building my AR and when I was buying a weapon light, most people with the TLR recommend placing it on the front-most part of the rail (if you have a Free Float tube or rail) at the TOP, and the rail mounted front sight post right behind it. Pro: Light as far forward as possible without being on your barrel, reduces barrel shadow, easy activation with straight weak-side support arm Con: Reduces sight radius (distance b/t front and rear sight) That's just what I remember though.
  10. Between the RDS and your eye. You want a bigger image, not a smaller image with things in it that are bigger. More field of vision = safer shooter. Tunnel vision (essentially what you will get if the magnifier is in front of the RDS) is never good.
  11. I have a Surefire Scout M600c on my mid-length. Bought it used with an additional incan head, so it was a great deal for me. Haven't gotten a chance to take out my middy, but I plan to more once I join OBRPC in June.
  12. I'm not sure who you're referring to... but I know from research that people say NOT to change the stock GSG-1911 Main Spring. People who replace it with a .45 auto main spring have experienced firing pin failure or some other failure due to excessive pressure from changing the stock .22LR spring. I changed my mainspring *housing*, because I found the stock one (arched; makes the grip have a bulbous booty) negatively effected my grip, ability to activate the grip safety, and natural POI.
  13. I've got one myself and I just replaced the arched MSH with a fusion Flat MSH with magwell. Definitely need a new MSH Cap Retaining PIN (that tiny one up top) If you don't want to replace the MSH and just want the magazine safety out, pop out the pin that holds the MSH in place... slide it down and remove the spring and a piece of metal that's looks bent connected to that, reinstall the MSH and you're all set to go.
  14. I did me lots of research for my first build. Best places I have seen with great upper builds that can also do the work for pinning are: Riflegear.com RainierArms.com Smartgunner.com (build your own upper option, with pinned brake, etc) Personally, I ended up with a midlength, 11" VTAC TRX railed 14.5" Riflegear CHF upper with a pinned & welded BattleComp 1.5. Love it. * Also of note, Riflegear's upper set that I purchased came complete with a mil-spec charging handle and BCG. I think I've also got an H1 buffer running in mine.
  15. Hey, Ira's my guy too... haha. Nice AR build, very nice. How's the NiB bolt?
