  1. Smith and Wesson added that lever to have the user look into the chamber/magazine well to ensure the weapon is unloaded. The don't recommended pulling the trigger to disengage the sear, especially if the weapon has a magazine disconnect safety.
  2. The lug of the striker is engaged with the sear of the receiver. In order to remove the slide, the sear must be disengaged from the striker. This is accomplished by either pushing down the sear deactivation level or pulling the trigger.
  3. We had the similiar problems when we first received our new M&P 45 duty weapons. Over half the weapons we received had failure to feed issues with the Federal ball ammunition. We were later advised by Smith and Wesson to sand down the breech face of the slide with 400 grit sandpaper. They said the firing pin channel is drilled from the rear in the direction towards the muzzle. Where the firing pin protudes from the breech face, some burrs may occur from the drilling process that may cause a failure to feed. After the sanding, the guns ran fine, no feed issues.
  4. They (police) will be investigating where the upper for the rifle is. ATF firearms trace. More legal trouble.
  5. Failing or refusing to surrender all firearms pursuant to the retraining order is a criminal offense.
  6. The recommendation was for caliber and weapon type ( 9mm semi-automatic ). 9mm is softer recoiling in comparision to 40 S&W and 45 ACP and is cheaper to shoot. If possible, "test drive the weapon" and see if you like it. Nothing worse then spending hundreds of dollars on gun you cant shoot worth a crap or have difficulty in operating its controls (decocking lever, manual safety, etc.)
  7. A 9mm semi-automatic like the Glock 19 would be a good choice. You can use it for both target practice and home protection. Taking a gun safety class (NRA handgun, etc.) is recommeded.
