Is there any scenario in which a police officer could fire their weapon and an investigator would NOT want the expended cartridge to be traced back to a particular service weapon?
(Not that I believe microstamping is legitimate, but this is a great counter argument to the real intent of the legislation, and ties in the progressive "the police are oppressors/enablers of systemic racism" narrative). You can bet your bottom dollar LE will be exempt. As there are no production handguns that employ micro stamping, and there probably won’t be as it doesn’t work, that would be the only way cops could get new guns

If this becomes standard practice, why wouldn't these ass-clowns just keep expanding it? The ammo paperwork burden is pretty damned important, too. Regarding the microstamping, maybe a manufacturer could add the stamp to existing handguns that are shipped back to them. Yeah, that would suck big-time, and is a flagrant 2A violation (not that these assholes give shit one about that) and wouldn't work if the manufacturer was no longer in business, but it could make the difference between being "allowed" to keep your handgun, or not. The "over-50" redefinition of "destructive device" is an outright ban on certain firearms, including one I happen to own.
As I read it, micro stamping would only apply to new handguns sold in the state. So there would be no requirement for existing guns to have it. Yet

Your deluding yourself if you think Sweeney will be our savior or if you thought all of the new NJ gun owners would have changed anything, it won't! These bills will pass in the next 60 days and we are looking at least 3 more waves before Murphy leaves office. He passes a wave of gun bills AT LEAST ANNUALLY.. There are able to pass laws faster than we can file lawsuits, it's really simple they throw 100 jabs while we can only throw 1 uppercut! The anjrpc and nj2as will be unable to stop this continued onslaught of bills aimed squarely at the legal NJ gun owner. There sending us a message COMPLY OR LEAVE THE STATE! The upcoming SCOTUS ruling will not affect any of the proposed bills. I try to ignore the people who say "you will never be able to carry NEVER" but, lately im thinking they may be right. NJ law enforcement have never been our friends and are actually the biggest threat to gun owners as they are the sole enforcers of these draconian laws. Think some LEO will take it easy on you when your FID expires! think again!
And with Sweeney gone, there will be nothing in the senate to keep these bills from coming to the floor

Smith and Wesson would probably refuse as NJ is looking to sue them anyway. Glock, however, would likely not care and sell to whoever wants them

The biggest issue here is micro stamping. It’s basically a defacto handgun ban as there no production handguns that employ micro stamping.

We are told specifically during our RPO qualifications that Critical Defense ammo is ok to carry
-
Having to provide a copy of a FID is the least of our concerns. The ban on internet purchase of ammo is coming, just a matter of time before the legislature delivers a bill for Murphy to sign.

NJSP just clarified their statement, stating in fact, they have no plans of going door to door looking for mags. Just as those of us who are not conspiracy nuts thought.
- 3

Actually they said they don’t comment on what they do, which is quite different from not ruling it out.

They would have to pull the mags and replace them with 10 rounders before they could sell them.

That may stop the 5 round magazine thing in favor of 10 which has not been successfully fought in MA so they have no fear of passing it here where 5 is a gamble.
I have no confidence at all in nj2as or any other group to do anything to stop or even slow this legislatively. If they show tangible results in the coming months, my opinion may change but for now, I doubt this is anything other then an ad to solicit money.
Also, for all the people banging the NRA, (all the “I’ve been a member for 200 years and they haven’t done squat for NJ!” stuff ) You know just being a member does nothing for gun rights political and legal fights right? By law, dues cannot be used for political lobbying since that is not the NRAs mission statement or allowed because of their tax status, that’s why they created the NRA-ILA. It has separate funding for political action and legal defense. If you are concerned about legal and political issues, that is the place to put money not the NRA general donations, that money can only go to education, safety programs and sporting... (and apparently a ton of mailing and ads ) but that is national level stuff though they do back things when they get to federal court from states. For real state specific issues, you need to support the ANJRPC.
That said, I doubt they can do anything legislatively at this time either, the NJ legislature has been chomping at the bit for years, they aren’t going to waste this opportunity to push anything and everything they can with a yes man in the Gov seat.

I agree. NJ will soon take the crown as the state with the most restrictive gun laws in the nation.
Here is my take at what we’ll see
10 round mag limit
complete “assault weapons” ban with no grandfathering or exceptions
internet ammo sales ban
More disqualifications under 2C:58-3
Smart gun mandate
Probably much, just can’t think of anymore right now

With our liberal state Supreme Court? They will rubber stamp every anti gun law Murphy signs. Remember, there is no right to gun ownership in NJ. And you can’t count on the US Supreme Court to bail us out.

Just asking rhetorically, because I realize I'm preaching to the choir here.
Gun laws have nothing to do with safety. They are designed to slowly erode gun ownership until all guns are illegal to own.

Everyone is missing the fact the number of “evil” features in this bill has been lowered to one. Meaning any long gun with a detachable magazine and a pistol grip is banned. The fore grip was added in for good measure. Basically a mirror image of the CA weapons ban.
-
Looks like the gun grabbers are back in full force. Last time this bill didn’t make it out of committee.

Lets hope a competent lawyer would have it thrown out, unless the law abiding answered questions fully and honestly. We will see.
Why would it be thrown out? After seeing the CC permit, the officer probably followed up with “are you carrying a Weapon?” If she said yes, game over, good collar.

In my opinion, there is a gulf of difference between Allan's case and this one. Allan was basically ignorant and got caught in the shitty fly trap NJ is. The CO otoh was almost certainly aware of the laws here and willfully diregarded NJ law because he felt he is "special". Honestly, I feel bad for the guy because as a CO he is under real and constant threat from inmates or their homies. He should be able to carry legally.
I doubt it, he probably thought he was covered under LEOSA.
-
Would you give up total semi automatic rifle ban and 7 rounds max for a CCW ?
That might me the battle line.
This is NJ, you won't get CCW, but it's very likely you'll see a total semi auto rifle ban and magazine restrictions, probably 10 rounds, but it could go lower knowing this state.
-
This was tried last year I think, don't believe it made it out of committee.
-
People complain a lot about Christie, but once he's gone and a likely Democrat is in Trenton, the total assault weapons ban and magazine restrictions will likely become law.
