  1. day 169 here and still counting.... I would have never thought when I applied back in July the holidays delays would have become a factor.

They sure didn't drag their feet getting the anti carry legislation passed

don't forget that they have to be interviewed by the police now.

That should be fun for out of state references. Plus as you get older friends & colleagues die so that’s another factor. Those people that signed today might not be here 2 years from now.  As of today I’ve only been waiting 163 days, or 23 weeks and 2 days,, or better yet 44.66% of 2022. What a shit show.

Thanks for that info, which was very helpful to me.  I had not put my application in yet for various reasons (mostly a recent move), so I scrambled around this afternoon getting everything together (I had already done the qual, photos, and fingerprinting), and plan to drop it off first thing tomorrow at my local PD.

Sounds like you’re ready to go.  I’d be interested in what kind of reaction you receive there tomorrow after today’s events. It is anyone’s guess how it’s going to play out going forward with the applications to be filed or the apps in progress. Good Luck with the app process and Merry Christmas

I think you need to be logged in to get that information.

That's what I thought but I was able to capture the above screen shot yesterday. Probably just another glitch in their system, I'm only a purchaser

    Stupid question here:

Can an FFL start the NICS application without you showing up in person if they have all your info, thus saving a second trip?

Not a stupid just stupid laws as demonstrated earlier today.  I guess they all have their own approach but I think the consensus is two trips. Several years when I had an FFL that would start the NICS and then let you come in when approved and do the paper work. That’s is when it was pushed out to a few hours wait time instead of the now standard 3 – 7 day wait time. That FFL retired.

I never understood why we have to fill out an application to purchase a handgun and then wait for it to be issued only to then essentially do it all over again at the point of sale, its total bullshit. Let’s see if the new law and new fees speed-up the snail paced NJ NICS system LOL

Anyone know if this goes into effect immediately, or at some date in the near future?

The sensitive places provision takes effect immediately. The rest of the law will be phased in over the next seven months.

    Stonewalling tactic.

    this ^

It couldn’t be any more obvious that some of the counties & towns are slow walking the process. Call me a conspiracy theorist but with Mercer’s court house right in the center of the state capitol complex one could only think this is at the hand of murphy’s office until they could ram though the anti-carry bill. I’m at the 154 day mark with the county alone sitting on it for 90 + days, some here have waited longer. I’m not a betting man but if I were I’d bet my permit is issued just after the anti-carry bill signing...

f you read my post and the one I commented on again, you will find that I never suggested using a check.

    I didn't say you did..

I posted what the instructions & requirements for obtaining a carry permit. I didn’t post to compare payment equivalents, differences or miscellaneous payment tracking techniques. Now if someone wants to buck the system good for them but let’s be clear it’s a Money Order that is requested. Suggesting any other payment method is misleading.

Keep in mind we’re all entering into a process where if your local officials are looking for any reason to delay or boot out your app from consideration why would anyone knowing supply them any reason is beyond me. So let’s not normalize cashier checks for the app payment process. The point is the state is asking for a Money Order for payment and nothing else...
