  1. Totally agree, How about this curve ball. I moved from free America to Jersey with the wife, I am not required to register my firearms. NJ has no idea who the owner of said firearm is. Now what happens. http://www.njsp.org/faq.html Q10. I have moved to New Jersey from another state. May I continue to possess my firearm(s)? A10. Firearms which have been legally acquired in another state and are legal to possess in New Jersey may be brought to New Jersey by the owner when residency is established. The owner may VOLUNTARILY register the firearm(s) by completing a Voluntary Form of Firearms Registration, however the owner is not obligated to do so.
  2. Would only work if all brass is same manufacturer and all bullets same weight. I've found on cast lead a couple of gr difference from heaviest to lightest and as much as 5 gr on cases between manufacturers. The difference exceeds the powder charge I use in a 9.
  3. A sporting goods store in PA. http://www.dunkelbergers.com/
  4. Not trying to put any places down, living in this area is expensive. Prices charged in our area would not be competitive in other areas. We are used to paying through the nose for everything, that is why these prices seem reasonable. $30 a box or 50 9mm, $10 for 100 22lr, $45 for 1000 primers, $40 for 2 to share a port for an hour People think I'm joking. I regularly travel and converse with people across the US and I bring up the question as to what other pay and people are always aghast what everything cost in the Jersey / NY area. This includes taxes, car insurance, ammo prices, range prices, tolls, parking.... Would NJ pricing be competitive in the same area as ranges offering services at 1/2 the price without a membership? Many are even cheaper. An example ( one of the first that showed on a google search ) Try your own searches for shooting range prices, NRA class, Utah, Florida.... http://www.floridagun.com/?page_id=22 For those not wanting to click through ADMISSIONS $12 an hour person (for pistols) $20 an hour per person (for rifles) Rental $10 for pistols, $15 pistol carbine rifle, $20 high power rifle No outside ammos allowed for rental guns Here is a closer example for classes http://www.safeinrochester.com/courses.php?id=95 NRA Basic Pistol - For Women Only!! Course Price: $75-85.00 Course Times: 8-9hrs total
  5. Having an IPO to raise capital to start a chain of ranges would make sense for them. Best would be upon completion they buy back all shares at a higher price then the IPO. Shareholders expect profit. Either in a dividend or an ever growing share price. To make a profit for the shareholders they will have to keep their prices high because now shareholders will be getting a piece of the pie. Problem being GFH is pricy, even if it seems worth it in NJ, the pricing model might not work in other areas. I would expect they make their profit from the classes they have and not so much the range. The range is crowded on the weekend, but manageable on the weekdays, all ranges I have been to seem to follow this. I would guess they would have to scale prices to stay competitive. Compare GFH pricing to comparable classes and ranges in other states, you will see what I mean. Municipalities will offer bonds to accomplish their building tasks, these are extremely low failure rate with a pretty much guaranteed return. IPO's are speculation and high risk. Research anything you invest in. Nothing against GFH, but I would not expect an IPO to make it into my portfolio. I am past the high risk stage in my life.
  6. Opposite of the Dicks by me in Paramus, the ammo shelves are bare.
  7. I recall hearing of many a states roads being built by prisoners, but I guess unions and corruption prevent this now. Here they just pick up trash on side of the road. Revenge would be letting the effected party's family "pull the switch".
  8. Qurious to a couple of things. Do they have Saturday hours? I thought their web page used to have hours listed, but no longer see it. What method did they use to contact references? Mail or a phone call? I'm gonna need to go through the process in the future for a couple of P2P. I haven't gone through the process in many years in Paramus, but they were pretty good most times. FID was around 30 days, P2P 2-4 weeks. ( one did drag on for close to 3mo ) This was before the mental record and digital fingerprinting.
  9. Looks like delayed until June. http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/03/no_upcoming_senate_action_on_gun_magazine_bill.html
  10. Just get a CCW, problem solved. Oh, ths is NJ. Never mind. ( In the voice of Emily Litella )
  11. Any chance somehow your electric provider got changed? My dad has managed to have this happen several times. One company name was actualy "Total Gas and Electric Charges" ( or something close ). Energy Plus hounds me regularly via all sources. You even get inserts with your bill. Ran into a few people suckered by them. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/energy-plus-company.html
  12. At worst it was just a drivers license. Lautenberg tried for background check, pretty sure it died with him.
  13. With some weekend hours... Occasionally I find myself in Atlantic Highlands or Red Bank, on a weekend, but never during the week. For me it is an 80 mile hike to CNJ. Taking into account 7 gal of gas and parkway tolls, I'd have to be already in the area to make a personal visit worthwhile. Otherwise hazardous + shipping from online would break even and save me 3 hours.
  14. I've had NJM for countless years ( not the more expensive Re-Insurance version ) Always a 1yr policy ( not a 6mo one that they raise on you in 6mo) , always a rebate check back at the end of the year, even a bonus check from a previous year once. I check rates yearly against others and have never had a cheaper quote from anyone else.
  15.     Find as many references as possible for reloading. Scariest thing I find is when one manuals max charge is another manuals beginning. Don't forget a caliper and scale. Ramsey outdoor, rte 17 Ramsey, carries powders and primers, does not mean that they will have or will be reasonably priced. The other weekend Ramsey had primers, I think Winchester and at 4.60 or so a 100 ( no thanks ), didn't ask what powders were available. They had some 9mm Blazer Brass ammo for $25 ( yikes, but cheaper then Meltzers or GFH Woodland Park non member price for 9's the same weekend. Davis had 2 powders on the shelf couldn't read the bottle at the angle they were to see what type, and didn't see the price, the ammo prices scared me away pretty quick. (845) 753 2198
  16. Yup. Space Invaders, Pacman, Missile Command, the big 3 when I started playing. And I still remember 10 cent pinball with actual chimes / bells and mechanical wheels for points. Enough of the good old days...
  17. Powder, primers and 22lr seem to be winning the game of hide and seek.
  18. http://www.miltsparks.com/ mmmmm, leather... Good things come to those that wait.
  19. I like guessing games. I don't think excessive powder. I would expect the firing pin indent on the primer to have been removed. I would guess that for some reason the round did not fully seat in the barrel. The unsupported portion of the brass ( by the barrel ) blew out. Improperly sized / wrong bullet? Like ws6 Mike said "Looking at where the rupture is compared to the barrel, Im thinking it possibly fired without fully returning to battery"
  20. Never gonna happen. I think you need 25% of registered voters in his district for a recall. 139,216 registered voters as of November 2013, of whom 67,070 (48.2%) were registered as Unaffiliated, 46,207 (33.2%) were registered as Democrats, 25,813 (18.5%) were registered as Republicans and 126 (0.1%) were registered to other parties 34804 required for a recall vote. He received 31045 for his win. Opponent receive 25599 Even if everyone who voted against him signed, it is not enough. 60% of the voters couldn't even be bothered to vote. 18.5% registered republicans I'll say it again. Never gonna happen.
  21. Kinda recall, 10 round mags. Training is NRA basic pistol ( 8 hr class )
  22. It is Bergen County. ( yea I know, I can't type either ) More of a heads up if BYO ammo. G&S ( only range I can think of in Paterson ) is no ammunition with lead projectiles or aluminum / steel cases ( they do check ) You may want to provide your NRA instructor ID for verification of credentials, at least to people who sign up.
  23. Curious if anyone has picked up an order to save on the free shipping. The address shows as a residence.
