  1. Watching a documentary on this right now. They showed a skilled military sniper, armed with an identical carcano (from the same mail order lot as oswalds... Doesn't get much better than that) recreate the shot. Oswald shot 3 times, the furthest being 88 yards. He hit twice, missed once, in a minimum of 5.6 seconds. The military sniper fired 3 times and hit all 3 times, in 5.5 seconds. Granted, he was not under pressure like Oswald was. I visited dealey plaza last June, it didn't appear to be an overly difficult shot for a marine sharpshooter. Attached is my view. The trees were much smaller in 1963... JFK was hit before where the white SUV is.
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone, you confirmed what I thought- it's a great old no frills gun. Trout, I have found a bunch on gun broker, but long distance buying is always a crapshoot. Any details on the one you might be interested in selling?
  3. We can't tell you the right answer, but check "yes" and you will be automatically denied.
  4. I understand the feelings that an article like this can give us as a pro-gun community... But before you swear off voting for Christie, just wait and see what miserable POS opposes him. Chances are they'll be anti gun.... And anti everything else, except giving your tax dollars to anyone with a hand out. Politics is NEVER anything more than picking the less of two evils. No politician has YOUR best interest in mind, end of rant
  5. I like it. I think it would be a good idea, if you know about a product, to post about it. Then people can make up their own minds. For instance, x amount of this is made in the USA, except for this piece, but it is assembled here by craftsmen... Etc something along those lines.
  6. Last I checked, those were sold out. I could use one as well.
  7. I think the biggest irony of this whole dumb law is that you could just pin the stock to the shortest setting (or buy a tiny stock) and be legal. I'm assuming this law is meant to make the rifle less "portable" well... If a short stock is legal, the collapsible stock in this case would adjust only to make the rifle longer, which is illegal. Makes a ton of sense...
  8. Yes sir, they gave it to me laminated. Nicely done too, not the amateur stick-together type of lamination. Interesting that they said that... I don't see how a clear protective cover could void something. And thanks for the welcome everyone, see y'all at the range.
  9. Hey all, New to this site, been shooting for a few years. I Lived in Florida and WV for a few years, learned to shoot there, and now back to NJ. Sold my "illegal in NJ" guns before I came back here 3 years ago. Recently, My buddy Luke suggested I grab a NJ FID and get back into shooting, so here I am. I have to say, the Verona PD was a pleasure to deal with and handed my laminated card to me about 3 weeks after applying. The worst part was getting an appointment for finger prints from morpho. Anyway, I currently have a Rem 870 wingmaster I bought used, and a Tikka T3 lite with a red field scope. Looking for a .22 and eventually want to build up an AR style to replace the bushmaster M4 I sold years ago. Stay safe out there everyone, -Travis
  10. As the title states... Looking for feedback on this cool old .22 I am looking for a .22LR just for a fun (cheap) range toy, and I like older guns with a bit of nostalgia or history. It would also be used to help introduce range shooting to some friends who have never done it before. I really prefer bolt action for rifles. I'm looking at the 27" barrel version, not the youth models. Anyone running one of these?

I'm all for changes assuming they are changes for the better. Though I usually visit on weekdays anyway when it is pretty quiet. I guess time will tell!
