  1. I'm looking for .224 bullets in the 70-77 grain weight range. If anyone has them, let me know. I have 1k LPP to trade, other bullets/swag, and cash. Bergen County/Paramus area.
  2. I've been a member here for more than a few years. My activity waxes and wanes as time and my current obsessions allow. I've seen the forum grow in to a cool little community that I was able to parlay in to some really good friendships and have in the past few years watched it stumble a bit. Currently the amount of ads and personal marketing/promotion by some on here has completely turned me off to the site. It is a bit disconcerting as if I want to see crappy firearms videos and reviews I can easily find as many as I want all over the internet. Additionally the lack of engagement by some of the "leadership" seems to have really affected the community as well (an example, I dm'd about becoming a site sponsor when I was trying to get my FFL and to this date have not received an answer. It's been at least a year). The current mods do what they can but at the end of the day, the only one that cares about "your" business is you. So, I have not paid for premium membership and have tried to stay off the site for a while as it just bums me out. It's mostly just a rant. But hell, NJ firearms owners are a minority group composed of some amazing folks. I'd love to see it flourish and grow in to something better than I remember. I'd love to see less divisiveness and more of us standing a bit more united and actually making a difference in the firearms culture and laws in this state. Feel free to flame me. I'll be checking in on this thread but not commenting further. It's the internet and really not THAT important to me.
  3. I find it interesting that over penetration is a concern with a 357 revolver but not an AR? The 357 is pushing a bullet with a relatively large frontal area out at 1200ish FPS. The AR is pushing a streamlined little bugger that's quite pointy at close to 3000FPS. To the OP: What is your home's layout and size? Do you share a wall with a neighbor? Do you have a spouse/kids or do you live alone? Do you have any training on firearms? Do you understand the differences between "ball" ammo and defensive ammo? Are you someone that can actually point the muzzle of a firearm at someone and attempt to destroy them? No need to answer these questions in the thread. They are posted just to give you something to think about. For me, I have a striker fired, semi auto pistol with passive safeties next to my bed with a flash light. It is loaded with defensive hollow point ammunition. Why? Because my home is small and my neighbors are close. HP's expand in walls and dump their energy into the plaster better than ball ammo will. When I miss my intended target with HP, I feel some reassurance that the bullet will stop in the wall/ceiling/floor before hitting someone that I did not intend to hit. That's me. If I had a larger house and/or more land to "defend" I would consider an AR for home defense. But for my scenario, my choice makes sense to me. It may not make sense to or for you. I have owned more than a few AR's over the years and have never considered them in a defensive role in my home. They are toys for me. I have a battle rifle, but it's not what sleeps next to me. It is, however, the gun that I would use my pistol to fight to get to if the time came. In the world, it's a very versatile tool. In my home, hard pass. And, by the way, if you're simply looking for an excuse to purchase an AR, by all means have at it. Good luck.
  4. Bump. Will consider partial trades on the remaining firearms. Bolt/AR/Shotty
  5. If I get the dog, can I get a frito spray to mimic my dog's feet? As cool as this stuff is, it scares the be-jeezus out of me.

    I completely agree.

I have one. It's cool. I've only thrown an upper on it and dry fired. It's a build I need to finish. It will be a (I believe) 50 state legal semi auto in 6.5Grendel. I'm hoping to hunt it a bit. I think they're an awesome answer to a problem that states like this have and wish they were more available.
  8. I would try it if I could find it.
  9. That looks pretty neat. Thanks.
  10. We've had this discussion. I don't expect you to remember. I've shot competitively with a .223 out to 600. It's not a problem. There are a lot of ways to skin a cat, I do it with handloaded ammo and the longest bullets my rifle will shoot well. My match rifles typically never see factory ammo. This one will, only because I want to see if I can get .75 or better with factory ammo (69gn FGMM). After I run that little "test" it's gonna be handloads all day.
  11. I’m not stuck on anything. However, I’m building in 223 as it suits my needs well. Inexpensive to load and accurate with minimal recoil out to 600+. It happens to be high on the list of favorite calibers.
  12. Start looking for a stock, barrel and handguard. Switch out everything that makes it "questionable" and throw it all in the back of the safe.
  13. Let me know if you want anything for it.
  14. I'm planning a precision rifle, kinda Gucci, but gonna get used. It will be shot prone/benched and will not be a "battle rifle". I wanna shoot itty-bitty groups from as far as I can. I'm lost, on of all things, the grip. Not sure where I should go with it. Should I do a grip with a palm shelf? Should I do a Penguin grip as it mimics what I like in my precision bolt guns? Go with a normal kinda Magpul? So I'm asking the hive for suggestions. 18" barrel 223 with a Magpul PRS and some better glass is the basic configuration. I will be running it off of a bi-pod. Thanks.
