  1. Reached out to the trooper in charge of my application. He mailed everything out to the courts and as soon as a judge signs it and sends it back he will print up my NJ License to Retail Firearms (or some such). I'm hoping to hear that it's in the mail by the end of next week (Fri July 10th or so). As soon as it's on the way I will call ATF and get the ball rolling. The agent there that I have spoken with has been incredibly helpful on this little journey. I'm looking forward to meeting him and virtually shaking his hand or at least fist bumping. It looks like this will actually happen. I will be making a website as well with a splash page with basic information/contact information. Nothing fancy right now. Just something to get the word out.
  2. Currently I reload and am trying out the 130gn RN from Ibeji. Seems to work ok. My buddy that doesn't reload uses Freedom Munitions and loves it. I think he's running 124 and has no issue. He's a lot faster than me (which isn't saying much). It's inexpensive and functions well in his pistol, a CZ Shadow. Good luck.

    Building a Glock?

I've built several. It's a lot of fun. Kinda AR-ish. Not incredibly difficult.

    50BMG ?

    Enough for whitetail?
  5. Glock Fanboy here... The 17 is a really good gun. The Gen3's have more aftermarket support than you can shake a stick at. If you like the pistol, and are committed to learning the manual of arms surrounding it, you will be fine. The G17 is the most widely used firearm by the police in this country. Their reliability is somewhat legendary (and mildly overstated) but in all, it's a really solid gun for HD, plinking, and if you get in to it, gaming. I'm struggling to understand some of the above comments regarding reliability, it being finicky, and such. If it was finicky and unreliable police departments wouldn't use it. Do you need to learn how to shoot...? Yup. However I have put Glocks in the hands of people that have never shot a firearm and they have hit a "Q" target at 10 yards pretty regularly. If you like it and want it, buy it. If you want to shoot a 19 send me a PM and we'll see if we can set something up. You can shoot one of mine. It's not a 17, but close enough. If you buy the 17 and it needs some tweaking to fit your hand, shoot me a PM and we'll see if I can help. The polymer guns are able to be modified to fit a person. It's actually quite easy. The drawback is that they can't be modified back easily. But, they can be worked. My suggestions would be (if you buy it) to change the sights and practice a lot. First drill (dryfire): balance a penny on the front sight and practice pressing the trigger until you can do so without upsetting the penny. No ammo, no shooting, no wasted funds. You can do it in the basement/garage/apartment without upsetting anyone. If you start dryfiring a lot, I would recommend that you get some snap caps. If it's an occasional thing you'll be fine without them. Good luck.
  6. Thank you. I don’t typically need enough powder to be able to justify the shipping/hazmat. A pound here or there is usually good for me.
  7. This is why folks are "premiere". So you can post as many pics as you would like. I have PM'd Maks about that and another topic and never heard back. So, I'm done paying to post here.
  8. Nick at Northeast Reloading is a solid NJ guy and a seriously solid guy all around. I would look on his site for brass/bullets. Powder and primers are always in a constant state of flux. Pistol stuff is usually not too difficult to get a hold of. Rifle powder can be difficult especially some of the "newer" powders like H4350 which is usually about as easy to get as a gallon of unicorn tears. Older technology powders are usually a bit easier to find. And I must say, don't be weirded out about using them. They work. Find something that is in the range that you want to use and grab it. You won't be sorry. PM if you think I can help and want my advice.
  9. Brother... you're telling me.
  10. NJSP was at my office on time this morning. The trooper was incredibly pleasant and professional. He took a look around, made some suggestions, and said that as soon as my 'prints come back from Identogo (I did them 3 weeks ago) he will send my letter for approval to the Superior Court for approval. In all, it was a relatively easy and simple process. Mostly a formality. I will be taking his suggestions to heart and reaching out to my landlord to see if I can change a few things. I reached out to ATF and as soon as I have my Retail License in hand I will start my application with them. I have also started reaching out to a couple of companies to start my dealer status. No firearms (obviously) but companies that make accessories ie: stocks and such. So, we are moving and grooving.
  11. I'm looking for a stock for a Remington 700/SA/Right/Sporter either ADL or BDL. No plastic, I have one I'm already looking to get rid of. Wood, laminate, or composite. If you have something you don't want shoot me a PM. I have trade fodder and cash.
  12. Hey Kevin. Thank you. Much appreciated.
  13. I reached out to the trooper in charge of my case. He's still waiting for fingerprints to come back. However we have a tentative date for initial inspection on Friday, 6/6 at 9am!!! Things are moving again. Thank God.
  14. Thank you! I'll take what I can get! Good luck with your move.
  15. Mental health paperwork filled out and mailed in last week. Fingerprints are done and submitted. I have email confirmation that the trooper has received them. So now, I wait... again. I will be running to the office to finish some painting this week, turning the brown doors white. So, that's at least some forward movement. The trooper that I have been dealing with has been pretty responsive, which is good. I know getting an inspection will be a bit of a hassle, but hopefully by mid June something can start actually moving.
  16. Mental health form mailed back to NJSP. I think I scheduled my fingerprints, but will call IdentoGO later today to be sure. Major delay on getting my mental health form submitted... I couldn't find ink for my printer. Anywhere. Had to wait about a week for Amazon to get it to me. But, it's here and all is well.
  17. NJSP called me today. Seems like the ball is slowly starting to roll again. The trooper asked me a couple of questions and said that I needed to check over some forms via email which I've done and replied to. So, this may still actually happen. Fingers crossed!
  18. I have 5 blades out to heat treat right now and will be sending another 5 or 6 out in a week or so. All are for myself or friends so far. It's a good way to kill some CovidTime.
  19. Just need to find a spot that is cheap, and will allow lots of fire and noise.
  20. Real Gear tig welder by WELCO. This is an import machine that WELCO brought in to their specs to sell and be able to repair. It's a great machine but is just waaaaayyy more than I will need. 200amp AC/DC Comes with bottle, regulator, torch, ground, pedal. Pretty much what you will need to get started welding. Bottle is pretty empty. I can demonstrate to work/start. I'm a crappy welder and there's not much gas left but it will power up. I do have a manual that I printed off the net I will include as well. Asking 750. Picked up in Bergen County, NJ. Open to offers.
  21. Pretty much covers it. Guy on another forum put 145,000 rounds thru a Gen5 in a year. He replaced the slide stop with a Vickers Tangodown unit and it performed flawlessly after the OEM one broke after somewhere around 35,000 rounds. Other than that, they don't need much.
