  1. It is very important to breathe! Not breating leads to all sorts of issues. If the stage is 3 minutes long, you may actually pass out if you fail to breathe. Seriously, keeping your respiration rate under control is critical to top level performance. It is one of the things that canreally keep your performance below the level you should be attaining. You run to a position and instead of settling in and shooting, you get there and all you can doo is breathe as your chest heaves trying to get enough air. Two things, you are buring time and you aren't going to get of well aimed shots if you are bouncing all over due to a greatly increaded heart and respiration rate.
  2. Lou, I am sorry that one of your scores was not recorded. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it. I will look at the particular Stage Nook to see if it was somehow marked incomplete, but since ALL data entry is done on the stage at the time the shooter makes his run, I have nothing to backup to. WAY BACK when we started out using Palms for scoring we handed out paper sheets for back up, no one seemed to want to fill them out and turn them in so we stopped using them. I can print up individual sheets for our matches and anyone that wants to is welcome to copy down their score from the nook. That way should something like this occur, I would have the paper as a backup. The paper would have to have been truned in at the match and prior to the posting of the scores. As an interesting bit of history, back when we scored everything on paper this problem still existed. We would get scoresheets that were signs with no time, no hits recoded for steel and so on, only one hit recorded on a target, but no misses. Nothing has really changed. It is the responsibility of the shooter to LOOK at the NOOK, note that they have a score and hit the save button, Then look to make sure the score was actually saved and no error message such as INCOMPLETE SCORE pops up. If this were to e done by everyone, thi sissue would be essentially dead. I know as one of the guys taht runs the nook a lot that most shooters walk off without even looking, Heck I do it! but then they are dependent upon the Nooker person to have accurately entered their score and saved it. Next match I will print up a limited number of papers and anyone that wants one is welcome to it with the proviso that it MUST be turned in to me at the end of the match, no back ups will be accepted after the scores have been posted and if there is a score in the Nook, it stands, the only time the paper will be used is if there is NO SCORE. Please, anyone with scoring questions, bring them to me and I will address them. Lou, this is not all directed at you, I am using this, I hope, as a learning/teaching momment for all so that in the future this issue does not arise. Thank you all to everyone that works to make our matches what they are, some of the best club matches you will ever shoot! Jim
  3. New shooters are welcome, we all started somewhere. Usually if you have an extra 20 or so SG rounds you will be OK, to start out a pouch will work. Most of the regulars have various types of shell holders, I'd suggest not spending money on gear until you see it in use. Do show up early as we always appreciate build help and also you will need to go through a safety check.
  4. What is the name of and where is this club located?
  5. 2 weeks to go until hammer down on the September 3Gun at Old Bridge. We are sitting about half full. If you have questions regarding the match ask me, Dave or Vlad. Due to short range (100 yards) we generally don't run a Heavy Metal division as it is too likely to damage our steel. There will be paper, steel and clay targets for you to enjoy. Most stages are 3 guns. We do not have a round count yet, but with 6 stages figure if you have 200 each for rifle, pistol and birdshot and maybe 10 slugs you should be good. Check back next week as we may have a more definite answer regarding the number of HITS in the match, Round count is always up to the shooter!
  6. Ammo Requirements Are you walking to the match? 200 Rifle, 200 Pistol, 200 SG, 20 Slugs Are you driving to the match? Double or triple the above. We cannot give you a round count, we will attempt to give you a HIT count. How many rounds it takes to get the hits is not something we are comfortable guessing at. Some people will use no more rounds than the absolute minimum. Others shall require an ammo carrier! No target is impossible. Some people do get a lot more funtime than others and have a higher round count. Just sayin. Seriously I am sure we'll post a hit count in a week or so.
  7. In August Old Bridge will have 2 Steel challenge, 1 knock-down, 1 Rimfire Action, 1 IDPA, 1 USPSA and an Action Carbine/Rifle only Match. You can register online for most at Steelscoring.com. Registration is open for the Carbine Match now!
  8. Registration is now open. Click Here This month look for 7 stages of USPSA Pistol. Set up starts at 0730. All shooters are invited to help build. Got and idea for a stage? Send it in!
  9. To everyone reading the scores and wondering... The times are entered when you shoot. i do not re-enter any data. If you have a missing score or an incorrect time or number of penalties, there is really nothing I can do to change it unless the error is obvious, say 1000 seconds instead of 100, or some absolutely ridiculous number of penalties. There it may be an extra zero added and if that seems to make sense, we can correct it. Same for a unbelievable short time, 6.95 seconds might be really 69.50 seconds. It is very importanant that you look at the score before you leave the stage, ideally immediately after your run, before the timer is reset for the next shooter. If you simply assume the other guy got the entry right, that is your score. Same if they don't enter a score. You shoot, the RO calls out to teh guy that is SUPPOSED to be running the NST, but he is off doinng what ever and your score doesn't get entered. I cannot make up a score. So here is the mantra; LOOK at the NOOK! Thank you. I do hope everyone enjoyed themselves and we all look forward to our next match, July and August will be regular USPSA Matches, September will likely be another 3-Gun. Do keeep in mind that the last Sunday in August is the PCC Guys, Carmine only match. 5-7 stages of action carbine. Thank you and good night.
  10. Scores will be posted shortly, however everyone that has asked why they aren't up yet will not be able to see them until I decide to remove this post-hypnotic suggestion.
  11. Match set up starts between 7 and 7:30, all help is always appreciated. Sign up opens usually by 8:30. Builders are encouraged to sign up as soon as sign-up opens. New shooters need to be on site no later than 0900 for the Safety Check. This is mandatory. If you have not shot USPSA, IDPA or Multi-Gun please let us know when you arrive. You will get a quick briefing of he general safety rules. At each stage you will also be coached as needed for safety.
  12. The Ultra shot shells are OK, 7-1/2 is fine. Golfbattery, Show up, no prob. We are near to what we figure is full, but we know that there will be no-shows so just get there early.
  13. Match is 2/3 full. We know that there area people that have PC Carbines, but there are few places to use them in competition, so now there is a place.
  14. We are looking at adding a division. Pistol Caliber Carbines. If you don't have a .223 carbine, but you do have a 9MM, .40 or other centerfire pistol caliber carbine, you can use it in this match. You'll be scored in your own division. Come out and play.
  15. There are still slots open for this match. 3-gun in NJ is for real. New to 3-Gun? You can get your feet wet so to speak for about 10% of the cost of a Major Match. Come out and give it a try!
  16. The PRELIMINARY Scores are posted at OBCATS.com This is the ONLY place we post the scores.
  17. Thank you Adam for making the corrections. Thank you all the rest for your interest. Vlad has pretty well spelled out the way the divisions are set up. Red Dots, NON-magnified are in Iron Divisions. Scoring is time Plus Penalties and converted over to points, usually 100 per stage although sometimes we'll do 100pts. for one gun, 125 for 2 and 150 for 3. Prizes are paid out according to our modified Lewis System. We are as always looking for stage ideas and stage builders. If anyone would like to work and not shoot the match let me know. we could use a couple dedicated staff to monitor stages and make sure they keep moving.
  18. Registration for the June 28th 4-Gun Match at Old Bridge is now open. Log in to SteelScoring.com to register. The match is listed under OBCATS USPSA. Select from the proper divisions: Tac-Optic, Tac-Iron, Pump-Optic, Pump-Iron and Open. Scoring is time plus. We are planning on six stages.
  19. Just a reminder. We will be shooting on Memorial Day Sunday. 7 stages. We have slots open. The Boy Scouts will be set up serving food and cold drinks.
  20. We are shooting on Memorial Day Weekend. Match registration link is up, buy only members of Old Bridgecan register until later this week. We are trying something new this month, if you have shot Steel recently at Old Bridge you are familiar with the Steel Scoring Registration forms. This month we are giving online squadding a whirl. Look for our regular 7 stage match. As awlays we appreciate those that show up early and stay late. Also why not try yor hand at stage design? It isn't that difficult. You can sketch it up with crayon on a napkin and sent a photo to Dave or I and we'll put it on paper for you.
  21. Had a good time shooting this match yesterday. Interesting stages. Good people. Half a day well spent. Cost in ammo is not bad. Make sure that your .22's will run the ammo you have. And check your accuracy across brands, much difference one brand to another in different guns. I used to have to run two different brands for two different guns. Neither brand would work in the other. Found one that now seems to work both guns. It makes a difference.
  22. Thanks to all of the folks that put this match together. Had a blast shooitng it. Now if Adam would only get the scores posted! I'vebeen home already for almost three hours and the scores aren't up yet! Just kidding! I can wait at least another half hour.
  23. Oh, and like Vlad said, bring plenty bullet, you miss, you need! you no miss, you bring home shoot next time, I see you shoot, you miss much, bring plenty!
