  1. Sad to have to say, the match is canceled due to range conditions.
  2. OK, When I put the info on OBCATS I GOOFED! It was supposed to be the 18th. Soooooo, as of five minutes ago the link is up. Now that said, I was at the range yesterday and I could NOT plow the road. The heavy snow lying on top of the ice was too much. THe pits are supposedly 18-24" deep in the pits. I do not think that this will melt sufficeiently to have a match. We will update you all Saturday. Trust me on this. I AM SICK OF SNOW!
  3. OB Members have recieved the registration notice. Open registration starts Tuesday. We can hope. Not optimistic, but we can hope.
  4. Where can we get the targets and the exact COF that will be used at Old Bridge? THe videos show roll over prone and all sorts of odd postions. The written COF that is in the NRA booklet does not mention roll over prone or any other odd positions except sitting on a chair for 200 yard shots. Will we use IPSC, IDPS or NRA Tombstone targets? In lieu of the special target will we use the mini USPSA targets? Inquiring minds want to know!
  5. Folks, We really really hate to do this, but we have to consider safety and the range surface is under a foor of snow +/- and the temps between now and Sunday are likley to brush up against 32 for only a couple hours which means we aren't going to see any great amount of melt. Sunday looks to be about 20 degrees. So in light of all this we have made the difficult decision to cancel the January match. Jim and Dave.
  6. To any and all. My computer got hit with a very bad virus two weeks ago. I had essentially to reformat the HD and reload all programs and data. I have the basic information from the matches, but I am currently unable to load EzWinScore to process the info. I have requested an updated disc from HQ and will get the classifiers posted to USPSA as soon as I am fully back up and running. Jim
  7. Signed up for two 8pm Releays slots. This is a fun match to shoot.
  8. OK, there are a few missing scores. I will verify that there are no scores on people that did NOT shoot the match. Important! Make SURE Youre Name is the one scored!. Verify the score, You the Shooter, hit Save, THEN look at the screen, it will have a time and HF OR it will say Incomplete. Just going to the review screen does NOT save your score, MAKE SURE!. I will look though the nooks for misscored persons. I have also re-synced the nooks tonight. There were a couple scores that apparently did not sync properly the frst time. Probably 'Operator Error' so a revised posting will be made. likely NOT until Wednesday. SO in the mean time ignore the scores that are posted. They are wrong. ALSO, just another little item. We ask everyone, Please note any DQs on the Squad Sheets as well as telling the MDs. List the Reason next to the shooters name. Also anyone that leaves early, We need this information. Thank You!
  9. OK, time to resurect and old thread. If everyone that shoots USPSA on a semi regular basis and has done so for say two years would commit to drawing up ONE stage a year we would be hard pressed to use them all. Think about it, we have about 120 semi regular shooters between OB and CJ. If you all draw and submit ONE stage a year, we will have 5x the stages we can use. If everyone that shoots our maches would leave home an hour earlier and work at the match to build it and stay 30 minutes after to tear down we sould have the matches built sooner and be home sooner. Do not worry about being original. It is highly ulikely given the number of allowed hits and the size of the pits that you won't duplicate some portion of a stage, so what. I have been an MD for 15 years and a stage designer for about 16. Some of my best efforts have been showing up and throwing a stage togethere on the fly, I've told Matt, 28 rounds, no disappearing, 4 steel and named it whatever. This worls for me and it could work for you. Sometimes trying to put is all on paper and then translating it to an on the ground stage is the problem, so, don't. Just show up with a number of targets and hits and a name. Build it and then sketch it out. But I can tell you all that unless we start getting a lot more stage designs and more stage builders you are going to see a decline in the quality of the matches you shoot. This is a VOLUNTEER SPORT so get up and start volunteering! The hard work has been done, we have the ranges, the clubs, the props and the crowd. All you need to do is to maintain the momentum.
  10. December is a Special Classifier Match, it is held indoors on the third Friday. You must be a USPSA member to shoot this match due to limited space and time. We also limit the registration. Details will be posted after the November Match.
  11. Simple, September I was away. Had to get the info and massage it. October we had a problem, now corrected. Then there is a little thing called life. September and October will be going in alsong with November. Sorry for the delay, but unless someone can loan me 3 or 4 hours a day in addtion to the 24 I am allotted, well...
  12. As most of you know, I don't visit this site very often. Regarding the October OBCATS match scores. There was an issue with the scoring program that doubled the hits on steel when the scores were exported to EzWinScore. The issue has been corrected and the scores are posted. As to the issue Matt was discussing. We welcome help and I have to say I have trouble believing that someone offered to help and was turned down. There are almost always fault lines and target frames to nail down. The problem is a seriiiiiius one, people walking the stages while they are being built. This will no be tolerated any longer. People not helping to build will be asked to either help or return to the parking lot. It is unfair that a group of people are out airgunning stages while we are building them. You are in the way of the builders, that is a problem. It slows the build and makes us run later. It is also unfair to the builders that are out there putting the match together and then having to shoot after working for 2-3 hours with only a couple minutes to walk a stage while you have spent 20-30 mnutes tearing a particular stage apart. I am asking that you do not test us on this issue. We welcome your help if you want to offer it. We might have you look at target angles ro we might hand you a hammer or a stapler. More help is always welcome.
  13. Just got around to checking in. I am disgusted with all of you wimps! Too cold, Give me a break. We have started matches in cold weathere, not the balmy high 20s low 30s we had at the January match. We've shot in sub-zero temps! Seriously, you all missed some good stages and didn't get to break in the new stage trailers. Watch for the sign up for the February Match.
  14. We have not yet had to turn anyone away. not that it will never happen, but we always have a number of cancelations. To insure that you get a walk-on I strongly suggest arriving early and signing in, then work helping to build the match. Now, that said, show up at 9:31 and ****, well..... Jim
  15. We will have a full match in Sunday. If the weather holds and the majority of the pre-registered people show up along wiht the usal number of walk-ons, we can expect about 100 people. If everyone pulls their own weight, we should be putting it away by 4pm and off the range by 5:30.
  16. OK, here is the deal. If you have your sign-offs and you have your 6 months in, come to the next membership meetiong, see Rich Grubel. If you are tryiong to log in to the website, first which website? Forget the club site, there is nothing to log in for. We are in the process of setting up a new site now. Some of our disciplines have their own websites and some do pre-register for matches, not all do and except for some really special events you can generally justshow up, however if the discipline does offer pre-registration, take advantage of it.
  17. The USPSA Nationals are also split. Early on there was a Factory Gun National. There is a Single Stack National. There are several Revolvers Only matches around the country. Maybe everyone should be happy that there will be a major match close to home andmaybe they could step up to help instead of making derisive comments. Just sayin
  18. No you cannot park in the pits. You are allowed to drive back to unload if you need to, but the you must move your vehicle back onto the 50 yard range.
  19. Alec, Have you shot any type of Action match, one requiring you to draw from a holster, load on the clock and move? We do run at safety brief at the match, however it is not a instructional class. You MUST have the basic skill set down in order to be able to compete. You are certainly welcom to atend the match. We run, and strongly suggest you attend our indoor match where we do an 1-1/2 hour class and a live fire practice match where we will coach you though every step as needed.
  20. This is really very simple. If you are a mamber of OB, you can bring this with you and your can take it home when you are finished for the day. If you are not a member, you need to be escorted in and under the supervision of a member and no, you cannot leave this on the range. If you are a member and would like to contribute to the club, you should look to the varioius shooting discilines and see if they have a need/desire for this prop. Regardless, if it is a prop, it cannot be used except by the disciplines. If it not a prop, then it cannot be left on the range. Look in upcomming issues of the club newsletter for easy to make and transport target stands. Hopefully that may help to reduce the number of incidents, admittedly fairly low, of people using inappropriate target holders on teh range, i.e., the hay bales, fences, barricades and the like. Thank you
  21. Yes it does suck, many of us have already put in a couple hours of work that now amount to little more than an excerise. Part of what a lot of people don't realize goes on before the forst target stand is laid out and definately before the first shot is fired. However as Nik indicated and Brian said, It is not only about the roads, it is about the staff and most importantly it is about safety. WIth the type of snow we have people running, even walking over a path repeatedly will pack the snow into ICE and running on Ice is definately a bad thing. This is a game, it is not training. We all want to go home in one piece.
  22. I would like to thank the majority of you that have posted today for understanding that there are rules and that they are there to protect the club and its members. We do have a guest policy and we are enforcing it. Unfortunately we have been being abused lately, damage to teh range and equipment as well as just palin sloth. With the expected turnout we thought it prudent to have a couple members of the board at the range to make sure the rules are being followed. As others have indicated we have functions at both the indoor and outdoor ranges on a very regular basis. THey provide plenty of time for non-members to come out and see the range, meet us and decide wheter or not to join. The guesting privilege is for members to bring out a firend or two on occasion for a little informal shooting. It is not a way to hold a match or a large gathering without getting board approval. had today been 50 degrees a large turnout of 'guests' brought in by relatively few members would arguably have the effect of keeping regular members from being able to shoot on a range that they pay for. Take a look at our calendar and come out to shoot a match and meet us.
  23. Do not use the lots outside the range. I repeat, if you are a guest you should be arriving with your sponsor. Members, it is your responsibility to protect our range. Remember you are responsible to the club for your actions and those of your guests. Jim Norman President Old Bridge Rifle and Pistol CLub
  24. The parking lot outside the range is PRIVATE PROPERTY. Do Not Use it. If you are a guest of a member you should be arriving with your sponsor otherwise you will find the gate locked. If you are the member you should be aware of the rules and not jeopordize your good standing in the club. As for targets, Fruit, Vegetables, Tiles, Glass and the like are not a good idea. All frangible target debris is to be cleaned up and either placed in the dumpster or removed from the range if the dumpster is full. If you are a guest, you may only shoot under the direct supervision of your sponsoring member.
