  1. My original hexmags are 'patent pending' ones, not sure if gen1 ever had a patent number on em. Most are kept "fully" (10) loaded with zero issues as of yet. When 10 rd bill came about, I got something like 5 or 6 OD gen2 hexmags for under $50 off gunbroker. No issues with those either. While PMags feel more robust, i have no issue with hexmags. Factory 10/30 options are "nice" if we are forced to have 10s...
  2. I would suggest against: Dear so-called "chief," You work for me, so you had better extend my permits pronto or I will write another strongly worded letter! Signed, your boss
  3. Do the neighborhood kids that don't play outside talk amongst themselves in hushed tones to not to let the baseball get onto Old Man PK90's yard, or else he'll come out to the porch and yell about 'getting off his lawn, you damned kids!' before rambling on about walking to school uphill both ways in the snow in bare feet?
  4. At first I thought it was gonna be a video of her riding in circles on a bike. I was ok with this. She does have some impressive skills. And what is this "playing outside" thing you old farts keep talking about? What self respecting kid would give up Xbox, netflix, and phone use to be outside in the dirt and sun? Actually i blame the playground equipment. Remember metal slides higher than 4 feet? Remember *metal* playground equipment? Now its all 3' tall plastic crap, no wonder kids don't wanna play outside. Lawyers and Karens ruined the outdoors. Watching the brighly colored primary color paint dry on the playground would be more entertaining than using the playground.
  5. I have a old (patent pending) Wave that I would hate to lose. I do not want bits, i don't trust the redesigned scissors, and I am pretty sure there are a few other changes I didn't like about the updated Wave. I always carry knives, so blades on my Wave are rarely used. However, Leatherman's serrated blade is on the "correct" side of the blade for right handed users, unlike most serrated edges. Makes a better flush cut easier. Unfortunately, Leatherman loves their 420HC blade steel in most of their blades, and I dislike that steel. I want to refurbish my old Wave, saw and file could use replacing. The diamond material is pretty much gone, and saw needs a serious sharpening. I have considered a Charge TTi but have yet to upgrade.
  6. Because there are people on this forum who know better than everyone else (not to mention smarter, more insightful, better looking, and with poop that doesn't stink), will remind everyone of that "fact," and will argue out their superiority with the other greatest minds on Earth who also don't know when to quit - long after anyone who actually cared about the original topic has left the "conversation." Also, have not shopped at CTD for years - post Newtown. They can price gouge if they want, but they seem to forget that I can also stop buying from them permanently, and that the community has a good memory.
  7. Scope you linked has mildots but uses MOA adjustments, that alone would annoy me. At that price point, the Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 is very popular, as is the Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 6-24x50 or even 8-34x56 (the latter I hear isn't great at 34x, but ~30x is better). Only thing I dunno about is how big a factor weight is. My precision rifles will never be used for hunting, only bench shooting, and weight is not a concern. I have an older Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 on my .17, and I would like some more zoom, and I would move to FFP MRAD as I upgrade all my optics. I've currently got three SWFA 16x42 fixed MRAD scopes, which I've been happy with, but I do still want more magnification. I've been researching scopes for my Anschutz and some other rifles, I'll add my list (everything listed is the MIL/MRAD version however.) Pricing below is typical street prices I've found, you can probably find em a bit cheaper if you look. Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 30mm EBR7C MRAD FFP PST5259 $999.99 Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 34mm EBR7C MRAD FFP SE-52504 $699.99 Athlon Ares BTR Gen2 4.5-27x50 30mm APRS5 MIL FFP 212010 $849.99 Athlon Midas TAC 5-25x56 34mm APRS3 MIL FFP 213081 $849.99 Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 30mm APRS3 MIL FFP 213077 $669.99 Sig Sauer Tango4 6-24x50 30mm MRAD FFP SOT46112 $699.99 Athlon Midas TAC 6-24x50 30mm APRS2 MIL FFP 213075 $629.99 Athlon Helos BTR 8-34×56 APMR FFP IR MIL SKU#:214112 $600 Athlon Helos BTR 6-24×50 APMR FFP IR MIL SKU#:214107 $549 Vortex Diamondback 6-24x50 MRAD SKU DBK-10029 $400 Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 8-34×56 APMR FFP IR MIL SKU#:214068 $429 Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 6-24×50 APMR FFP IR MIL SKU#:214063 $400 SWFA 16x Stock# SS16X42MQ or 20x SS20X42MQ MIL-QUAD $300
  8. 4 IS an arsenal, after all... That said, I gotta say, I'm sure it is just incompetence. Be surprised they gave you that many. In this state, I'd have expected 2 slots maximum. Be it from incompetence or as a fuck you to Pizza Bob gun owners.
  9. Based on the years I've been following him, his predictions have been pretty consistently the most accurate of all the weather guys. There have been a few times he has been way off, but some meteorologists seem to be wrong as often in the average month as time WeatherNJ guy has been since I started paying attention. That said, where I live is fairly high elevation and ends up being worst case for whatever is predicted compared to places even a mile or two away.
  10. A hunting license expires December 31st, no matter if you buy it on January 1st or December 1st. Unless you plan on going a couple times this year, or would spend more than $27.50 to go to a different range, I would hold off until next year. When you say "apply" do you mean take the one time hunter safety class? If you haven't already done so, you need to pass the course (I believe it is currently online only for the course, with specific schedules for the in-person safety portion (and I assume written test still? I went years ago and did the free route instead of paying for the online one.)) I don't know what the availability of slots for the live fire bit is - they tend to fill up quick, so I doubt you will get a slot this year anyway, but get the ball rolling on the process now and get an earlier slot so you can get more trigger time at Clinton. For the safety portion with live fire, they will loan you a shotgun if you do not have a shotgun. You'll have to shoot a couple shells, don't worry as much about hitting the targets as showing safe operation and handling. Legally, you aren't really able to "borrow" a shotgun, unless your friend is there with you the entire time (and that may be restricted now due to the rona) One last thing, Clinton WMA rifle range is for rifles .30 cal and below (and shotguns) ONLY. No pistols. Not sure about non NFA firearms technically, though I may or may not have seen some there.
  11. Re: shitty eyesight, do you have astigmatism? I do, light colored things against dark background are most noticable for me (think movie credits or car taillights at night). This can make a red dot sight appear blurry, smeared, or as 2 dots. I personally went with a Nikon 2-7x32 scope because I wanted magnification for my AR, but that is more because I prefer scoped rifles. I wouldnt mind a red dot designed for people with astigmatism for another AR.
  12. While it may sometimes seem this is how some police departments act, this was most certainly a joke. A very, very, very plausible, accurate joke. I think it was ruled that "the investigation" is more important than "following" the "law," so if it takes 31 days, 310 days, or whatever number the PD pulls out its ass, you* will take it and you will like it, you little bitch. Now get down on the ground and beg! (Police DO carry things to hit you with, handcuffs, and can be very demanding...worst dominatrixes ever.) My favorite thing is they all use the same excuses (our K9 ate your application, the state police have your application, etc) yet some towns can complete it in 2 weeks, and others can't even get ball rolling in 2 months. *generic you
  13. Wasn't it the 300A Celery that could OC to 450+? And who the hell had a 2MB card by that point? I'd been at a 32MB TNT2 Ultra since the Pentium II was top of the consumer market, before the Celery even came out. My understanding for MS Flight Simulator 20 is it is extremely demanding, as has been mentioned. While minimum specs sound like you might be covered IF your system had a discrete video card, it also sounds like the quality settings would be very low at low resolution, and you'd still get terrible, stuttering performance. Short of maybe the top end hardware released in the last month or two, it would appear very few systems can really handle MSFS20 well at this point. https://www.tomshardware.com/features/microsoft-flight-simulator-benchmarks-performance-system-requirements What resolution? Raytracing in Quake II RTX at 4k is not exactly smooth on a 2070 super. Though I didn't get the card for ray tracing performance.
  14. I would suggest waiting until a the newest nvidia xx60 and xx50 cards are released. I dunno if there would be a gtx 1760 or whatever name will be to be the replacement of the 16xx series cards. And unless you are doing serious gaming on the newest AAA games, a 1060 will likely be sufficient for many things, especially at 1080p and below. I went from a 970 to a 2070 super early this year, and it allows me to play 4k60 games I wanna play at 60fps, while the 970 was playable but not ideal at 4k. 970 was similar performance to 1060. If you absolutely have to upgrade now, a 1650/1660 or used 2060 might be options if you are ok with last generation cards. I almost went rtx 2060 super, but justified the cost increase for the 2070 super to myself.
  15. Limited quantity teaser releases snapped up by bots/scalpers/enthusiasts do suck. That said, I've stopped buying latest and greatest as soon as it comes out, and have saved serious money. As long as you are still buying high end stuff, it doesnt immediately become worthless the second the new stuff is available. I'm still running an i7-4790K and do not feel undergunned for most things I do.
  16. Of mags I own: Hexmag factory 10rd (10/30) mags Hexmag factory 15rd (15/30) mags modified to 10rd Magpul factory 10rd (short) mag Magpul factory 20rd (medium length) mag modified to 10/20 All will load fine on a closed bolt with 10 rounds in the mag
  17. Definitely would post about it online, followed by calling up my local police and telling them I'm going to bring my illegal high capacity mags to the station later. Bonus points if you have boxes of Wish "fuel filters" to bring too I'd have to make sure to give them enough time to get the local ATF guys in place, and call in the photographers for the perp walk. No wait, I'd throw them off a bridge or take out my boat and have an accident. Or you know, bring them back to the place that didn't do the work I paid them for. Would never ever ever EVER consider keeping those highly dangerous items, or giving them to a friend in a free state to hold for me.
  18. Take the hunter education course and get a hunting license, which will allow you to use any of the state WMAs. A cheap thrower and license will be cheaper than almost any range membership near you. License will also allow you to bring friends to WMAs, which is good cause then you have someone to load/throw birds for you. As @Ms. 12 Gauge said above, there are usually monthly-ish forum shotgun shoots in Clinton where you can get instruction and help hitting clays, and try a bunch of guns, plus meet some of the members of the forum, who are honestly some of the nicest and friendliest people you will meet.
  19. long press on the notification(s) and go to APP INFO or NOTIFICATIONS, if you decide to keep the app at least disable notifications and change any permissions, or I would be uninstalling whatever is doing it. May also wanna download AVG free antivirus and at least do a scan. If you don't lock AVG down, it will send more notifications than I like, but you can uninstall it after you're done if so inclined.
  20. I have a Hanks 21oz steel core belt as my everyday belt. Only had it a few months but seems very nice, and pretty sure it could last through their 100 year warranty. Made in US and has had zero problems carrying IWB/OWB plus spare mags and all the stuff (phone, leatherman wave, kimber pepperblaster) I always have on me with zero sag. Only complaint is, it is THICK. It is over 1/4" thick, so some cheap mag holders I've had don't fit on it. Stuff with better clips have not been an issue. Hanks has belts from $50-60 to a bit over $100 for carry, so i'd look there and see if thats what you are looking for. Prior to the Hanks I have now, I've used 5.11 belts with permastiff insert with good luck, typically getting 5-7+ years of daily use out of em before considering retiring em from everyday use.
  21. As long as the holes are drilled right, in the right places, I have never cared much about who made the lowers. My 2 Anderson lowers I have built have worked fine for years. They are the definition of poverty ponies, they were made as cheaply as possible while still using decent parts, and neither has given me a single reason to doubt that they will go bang every time. I would absolutely buy more Anderson lowers without hesitation if I needed more - especially the solid trigger guard ones. Might not be as nice as others, but will do the job for people who can't or won't spend more.
  22. I had my old license expire a year ago, and kept holding off on doing it through internet because I wanted a real-id and there was no info really being released. I was getting closer and closer to expiration date and finally said i have to do it and renewed my normal DL. 24 hours later I get the email "we are now doing real ID"... assholes. Since NJ sure won't give me one for "free" (normal DL renewal cost when I should have been able to in Sept) despite it being their fault for delaying and being years behind schedule issuing them, I think I am going to eventually get a passport id card. Cost is fairly similar since i have had a passport (now expired) and it is a few more dollars i din't gotta give to NJ, which makes me slightly happier.
  23. Any normal light that ruins your night sight a little will likely cancel out the glow of the ultra green after 2+ hours, but it is easily noticed 8+ hours after it was charged if your eyes are fully adjusted to the dark. It will be much dimmer than my 2022 pictured at that point, but this ultra green is impressive stuff. It isnt consumer grade glow in the dark crap that fades to nothing in a minute, like most of that stuff does. The night sight kit must be new, (well last like 12 years), didnt have it when i ordered my stuff. So something I have found that works really well to charge this stuff up are the 405nm blue laser pointers, which are near UV. Works as well or better than an 850 lumen LED flashlight, though i no longer have a UV flashlight to compare both to.
  24. Benelli Nova or Supernova - fewer options for upgrades, but the important parts I cared about are (were?) out there. Most people who have handled my Supernova have been impressed with how smooth the action is. I love mine, one of my favorite guns. A Remington 870 or Mossberg 500/590 are always good choices, too. I owned a Stevens 320 but it had an issue where it would sometimes like to spit a 2nd shell out as you were racking it, which caused jams or a live shell to drop out of the gun. I don't think it likes being racked fast. Mine mighta been one of 10000 that was bad, but I wasn't particularly happy about it nonetheless and I haven't looked at another Stevens. As for stock options, I would avoid a pistol grip only (like a handgun) for a first shotgun. I'd go either traditional rifle stock style or pistol grip with a stock, whichever works better for you. I personally prefer the pistol grip with a stock for a tactical shotgun.
  25. Sorry for quality, I did this real quick with a cell camera
